Islamorada Bayside Home 4 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths Including Private Pool And Hot Tub

Islamorada is known as the Sports Fishing Capital of the Florida Keys. Bonefish Bay is located on the calm bayside at Mile Marker 76 on the Historic Overseas Highway, half way between mainland Florida and Key West. The highway follows Henry Flagler’s famous railroad to Key West that was destroyed in the deadly Labor Day hurricane of 1935. Miami International Airport is a 90 minute drive without rush hour traffic. Fort Lauderdale International Airport, which usually has less expensive airfares, is a 2 hour drive without rush hour traffic. From Snapper House a visit to historic Key West is an easy 90 minute drive.

Bonefish Bay is a luxury 5 acre, kid friendly, private gated community of 12 single family homes. The Key West styled homes are surrounded by immaculate manicured grounds and old Chicago brick walking paths. Snapper House has its own private pool and hot tub spa. The common areas include 350 feet of shoreline, boat launching ramp, fish cleaning table, fishing and docking pier, tennis court, basketball hoop and a children’s playground. For boaters there is easy Florida Bay and Atlantic Ocean access. The shoreline area includes a crescent white sand beach to enjoy the sun, relax in the hammock, read a book in the shade of the bay side green buttonwoods, play in the warm calm shallow waters for swimming, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling and personal water craft usage. We provide most of the non-motorized “toys” for your fun. You can fish from the pier and walk into the water to snorkel for lobster. We never tire of the stunning sunset views from the beach area and then enjoying an open fire in the beach fire pit. You can make s’mores with your family.

Our two story, 4 bedroom, 4 ½ bath, Bonefish Bay home, Snapper House, is located in the center of the community with a relaxing view towards the beach area. Bonefish Bay is a very secure and safe gated and fenced community.

The Bonefish Bay Homeowners Association R & Rs require rental guests to locate their trailers and/or recreational vehicles offsite. Rental guest's watercraft must be moored over night offsite. We own the property immediately adjacent to Bonefish Bay and share the mouth of the marina. We provide secure gated parking for boat trailers and recreational vehicles and use of our cut in boat slip and/or dock for our guests at Bonefish Bay. Also our Bonefish Bay garage is empty, except for our “toys” that you have requested, and is included in the rental, so you can store your equipment or other items inside the garage for security along with the equipment we provide. Other Bonefish Bay rentals may not offer trailer parking, over night boat mooring opportunities or the same garage storage space. As local owners, we do a “meet and greet” upon your arrival so you will understand how everything works at Snapper House and the Bonefish Bay community. We will then leave you to enjoy your vacation in the Florida Keys but we are available to answer any questions or handle any concerns during your stay. You will not be stranded by distant property management.

About Steven and Kathy

We were born and grew up in Southern California. We were very fortunate to enjoy both mountain, river and oceanside activities. We now live in the Florida Keys. We love sunsets. Our goal was to be able to retire with a mountain home and a oceanside home. 'Snapper House' is our Bonefish Bay home with spectacular sunset views. We also offer our primary residence, Sunset Lodge, in Islamorada, as a vacation rental and we have a vacation rental mountain home, 'Sunset Lodge,' with equally fantastic sunset views. Why Steven and Kathy chose Islamorada

We have lived in the South Florida area since 1977. We raised our two children and spent our careers here. We have always enjoyed fishing, lobstering, sailing, motor boating and water sports activities since our youth in Southern California. We purchased our first Florida Keys property in Islamorada in 1994. There are many activities to see and do in the Keys. The location is perfect for outdoor minded people like us.

What makes this House unique

We fell in love with the Florida Keys when we arrived in the area in 1977. When our children were young we sailed the Keys island chain and the Bahamas in our Morgan Out Island. Now we enjoy motor boating activities from off shore fishing to back country fishing to lobstering. The Bonefish Bay Community is very safe and kid friendly including the play ground area, tennis court, basketball hoop, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, snorkeling off of the beach to catch lobster for dinner and easy access to the Atlantic, Florida Bay and the Everglades for fishing. The Bonefish Bay shoreline and beach allows for all kinds of water sports activities. There is the hammock for relaxing and nice beach shade to sit and read a good book while enjoying the fabulous bay views. The sunset views are incredible and we like the wood burning fire pit in the evenings. We enjoy music and have a nice stereo system with speakers in a number of the rooms in Snapper House, on the patio/pool/spa deck and the upstairs balcony. The pool area has lounges for sunning and sitting areas. There are many ways to relax at Snapper House in Bonefish Bay. If you are interested in leaving Bonefish Bay downtown Islamorada is just 5 - 10 minutes up the Overseas Highway with many fine restaurants, shopping, art galleries and the Bass Pro Shops World Wide Sportsman facility and marina.

                                                                  We have had the pleasure of staying at Bonefish Bay for three years, the last two at the Snapper House. The property is lovely: 12 similar houses, beautifully kept common grounds, private beach, gorgeous jetty for sunsets, terrific neighbors, all situated close to everything the Keys have to offer. Snapper House is wonderfully appointed and thoughtfully stocked for guests. Your private pool and spa are kept clean and warm, the garage is spacious and open for your toys, and the house itself is a delight to spend time in. The walking path just outside the enclave is perfect for walking or bike riding, the tennis and basketball courts ready for activity, and the beach area invites you to relax in the hammock, head out in a kayak, or play in the sand. The owners are extremely gracious. Ready to accommodate their guests and quick to respond to any issues. We love every minute at Bonefish Bay!

                                                                  Mariners Hospital and Medical Center is located at MM 91.5 bayside. You may not want to leave the Bonefish Bay property but there are a number of very good restaurants and other fun activities in the Islamorada area. The full moon party at Morada Bay is very nice. Back country fishing guides will pick you up in the boat basin for fishing in the Everglades and Flamingo area. Great offshore fishing is also available from marinas in Islamorada. We can provide references for all of your fishing and/or scuba diving wishes. We provide a Welcome Packet and an in-house binder with all the information you need to have a fabulous vacation in the Florida Keys. There is a basket of area brochures in Snapper House. Key West is a great day trip. The Marathon Turtle Hospital is an incredibly fun educational experience, we highly recommend it. There is a new Aquarium Encounter in Marathon. In Islamorada or Marathon, you can swim with dolphins or just stand in knee deep water to touch and “kiss,” it is great fun. The bicycle/walking path outside the Bonefish Bay compound easily leads south to Anne’s Beach or north to the Islamorada Tennis Club and to Robbie’s Marina where you MUST feed the tarpon. There you can also rent boats, jet skis, kayaks, SUPs and/or book a charter boat. You can also reserve a kayaking excursion to Indian Key State Park or transportation to Lignumvitae Key State Park. Many of our guests return to the Bonefish Bay community on an annual basis.
