About Maureen and Don Robertson
We have owned this cabin for many years having built it in 1973. We are retired and live in Vancouver, BC.
Maureen and Don Robertson purchased this Chalet in 1972
Why Maureen and Don Robertson chose Eastgate
This is a lovely part of BC, just over the Alison Pass and thus in the "rain shadow" meaning that it is drier and often warmer than on the coast. In winter it can be colder than on the coast. An easy 2.5 hour drive mostly on 4 lane roads.
What makes this Chalet unique
It is beside the river which is lovely to sit beside and enjoy the sounds of nature.

A beautiful, quiet, very comfortable home.
We have stayed in this property several times during past summers, and we always think about coming back. The house is clean, well kept, very comfortable, and only a few steps from the river. It is a great place to get away from the city, and to be in the middle of some amazing natural beauty. It is also convenient to be so close to Manning Park, and everything it has to offer.
Thank you for your kind review. It has been a pleasure to have had you as guests.
Idyllic stay at the Bavarian Chalet
This being our first experience to the Manning Park area, we found the chalet and the location next to the Similkameen River the perfect setting to enjoy the three days there.
Everything was thoughtfully provided for including a delicious home-made waffle recipe and strawberry/rhubarb preserves.
This was a little haven in the woods. So relaxing. Hosts were top notch!
This was exactly what the doctor ordered. It was quiet. It was relaxing. It was comfortable. The beds and bedding were AMAZING! It really felt like visiting grandmas house. Everything you needed was there from years of enjoying their home. Everything from spices to bandaids. Nicely equipped kitchen. Easy to find. The river was so refreshing. If you like rustic in the woods this is great place to stay. If only they could get rid of the mosquitos! Bring your favorite repellant. They had spray, candles and coils but in the evening you need all three. I loved it!
You get more than you can expect
The kitchen has a "home" assortment of high end cookware and cutlery. Excellent seating for dinner and games. Two incredible decks. Everything you need for cleaning and seasoning.
Comfortable beds and bedding. A hot tub. Beautiful scenery. Convenient location to all sorts of hiking, picnicking, relaxation. Fireplace for cozy feeling. Excellent t.v. programming. Easy in and out to highway. Quiet surroundings. I could go on and on.
Don and Maureen go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and at ease. You can't go wrong.
Thank you!. We get great pleasure from having our guests enjoy their stay as much as you did. We look forward to hosting you again.
We really enjoyed our stay at this cute cabin. The hosts were amazing and made sure everything was spot on. Upon arrival we noticed a bottle of red wine that was left for us, complimentary waffles (with homemade jam!!), keurig coffee, 5 star linens and the most spectacular scenery from every window. Our two year old son loved feeding the chipmunks every morning and throwing rocks in the river. Hopefully we'll be back soon to enjoy this place!
Thank you for your kind comments. We are happy you enjoyed your stay, especially your young son. We look forward to hosting you again
Cozy cottage with lots of little perks!
This cottage offers a home away from home. It has lots of amenities and the owners are doing a lot of work making you feel welcome! A bottle of (good) wine is waiting, chocolates, waffle making ingredients, home made jam, coffee, robes, and so much more. The cottage is beautiful decorated in a 70sh decor. It is very spacious for 4 people. And...it is on a little river that soothes you to sleep at night.
