Two story cabin w/wraparound deck, gorgeous mtn views & easy lake access!
The Johnson Creek Cabin is on the side of a beautiful mountain overlooking Hebgen Lake and the majestic mountains reflected in the water. It is very common to see several species of wildlife every day! The cabin is surrounded by National Forest and has access to hiking trails and skiing from the cabin! It also offers easy access to Hebgen Lake with a canoe available and sand beaches within 1/4 mile walk from the cabin, plus a marina 3 miles away. It's only minutes from the entrance to Yellowstone Park and the town of West Yellowstone.
This home is well equipped, and very cozy and comfortable! The cabin has two levels and plenty of space. The flooring on the ground level has radiant heat, which is super cozy and nice on the feet. The cabin has all electric heat and appliances, however there is also an old fashioned wood stove for additional heat and ambiance if desired. The living room has a queen sofa-sleeper couch, and one bathroom with a shower is downstairs. The second full bathroom is shared between the upstairs master bedroom and loft bedroom.
The loft bedroom is at the top of the stairs and has two twin beds. The private master bedroom has a queen bed and a futon/sleeper and shares the full bathroom with the loft bedroom. The cabin can sleep up to 8, but is most comfortable with 4 adults or adults with kids.
You will find all of the comforts of home, including a full kitchen and full-sized washer/dryer, unlimited hot water, high def TV with satellite, wireless internet, a wraparound deck with a propane barbecue grill, as well as a large yard with a small creek running through the property. Plenty of room for parking horse trailers and RV's, plus and un-fenced pasture is available for horses too!
The cabin offers spectacular mountain views with amazingly easy access to Hebgen Lake, fly fishing on the Madison River, and the mountains of Gallatin National Forest are literally only steps away. It is accessible by driving on a paved highway from the town of West Yellowstone and then taking a short 1/4 mile drive up a graded, maintained dirt road. It is only 16.5 miles outside the town of West Yellowstone and the western entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
Cross country and backcountry skiing opportunities are also available right outside the cabin -- Ski right from the front door directly to the top of Hegben or Trapper Mountain for superb powder turns! The spring crust cruising on Hebgen Lake can't be beat. Or come and participate in an official North American Ice Fishing Circuit event, the West Yellowstone/Hebgen Lake Tournament on January 15-17th, 2016. For those three days, West Yellowstone becomes the center of Ice Fishing with tremendous Fishing Education opportunities on Friday & Saturday and World Class Competition on Sunday, January 17, 2016, with all of this excitement within a couple of miles, and within view of the cabin!
In the summer, only a couple of miles away, fishing boats and pontoon boats are available from the Kirkwood Resort and Marina.
It is in a great location for staging any Yellowstone adventure, whether exploring the Park or the surrounding forests and lakes. If your vacation includes guided boat trips, your guide is welcome to leave the boat at the cabin, saving him some trouble, and you will be able to enjoy an some extra relaxation time every morning before heading out to catch blue ribbon trout!
Thanks for looking! We look forward to your stay at the cabin!

What makes this Cabin unique
This is an historical homestead cabin originally built in 1908 by one of the foremen on the Hebgen Lake dam project. The owner of many years has restored it and added all of the modern conveniences and comforts you'd want while still retaining its historic charm and character. It's a one of a kind, and the owners are allowing us to share it with you. Enjoy your stay, it's a wonderful experience! The owner is now retired after a long career working for the National Park Service in Yellowstone National Park. He is the author of a new book about Yellowstone science entitled "Laboratory Yellowstone." The book is available online or at most of the local book stores.

Such a beautiful and natural place.
Perfect in everyway
Exactly as presented. Cozy, great location and had everything required.
Great rustic cabin. Fantastic BBQ, fire pit and star gazing. Thanks To the owner
Great accommodations for Yellowstone vacay
We stayed in this cabin for several days while we toured the park. It always felt like "coming home" when we would return to the cabin each evening. Getting ready in the mornings was so easy having two bathrooms, two showers. The beds were great and the cabin spotless. In terms of locale, it was an easy ride to the park. We took a break from the park one day to take a short ride north to Quake Lake and the visitor center - a not to miss sight and experience. We would not hesitate to stay again!
Perfect, comfortable cabin
The cabin was very clean when we arrived and had everything we needed in the cabin. There was dishes and towels and firewood....just need to bring your own food. All the beds were very comfortable. The view of the lake was amazing, one of the things I miss the most from my trip. The owner Bob lives very close and is more than happy to bring anything you need over or answer any questions. He was very friendly. He has a canoe already on the lake that you can use and provides the life jackets. Such a wonderful, quiet and cozy cabin...we will definitely rent this cabin again if we return to Yellowstone.
Thanks for sharing your awesome cabin with us. It was perfect for our family. We look forward to staying here again next summer!! Thanks!!
