About Ralph and Debra Swift
We are a retired couple who lived in Salmon for 18 years prior to moving to Wyoming for a job opportunity. We purchased the property in 2006 with plan for a retirement home. Instead we decided to move to the Boise area to be nearer to the kids and grand kids. We still love the Salmon area and have many friends there. We wanted a place, beyond our camp trailer, to stay when we visit the area and friends. We had an opportunity to buy a log shell from a log home builder in Salmon. We bought it and moved it to the property as our home away from home. We use it mainly in the early spring and late fall. I have been guiding steelhead fishermen from the Cabin for the last 3 years. We both grew up in small towns in Eastern Colorado and still enjoy the small town feeling that Salmon offers but yet it has the amenities of most large towns. Salmon has many outdoor recreation activities that we enjoy as well as restaurants. It has a challenging 9 hole golf course, scenic areas, parks, river walks, mtn. bike trails and other. We feel Salmon is an undiscovered area that can use a boost from tourism. We decided to open our cabin for visitors to enjoy this beautiful valley and friendly people.
Ralph and Debra Swift purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Ralph and Debra Swift chose Salmon
Looking for a base for an outdoor vacation without camping? This cabin takes you back to an earlier time but still offers many comforts of home. It provides a place to relax on the deck or sit by a cozy fire. It provides a place to view nature and to dream of how it might have been back in pioneer days. The cabin sleeps 3 comfortably but has areas for young children with a bit of adventure.
What makes this Cabin unique
There is nothing like sitting on the front deck with a cup of coffee or a beer looking out at the Bitteroot Mtns. The large side deck offers a place to gather, grill a burger or steak, and look out over the landscaping and vegetation along the creek. We have used native plants for the most part to landscape in front and off the deck. This is challenging as the deer also like this area and can often be seen along the creek; along with many birds and humming birds feeding on the flowers. It is a great weekend get away or a home base for a week vacation.

My husband and I were instantly at home. We loved everything about our stay, from the décor to the deer that showed up out front. We had all that we needed! The neighborhood was quiet, and we enjoyed going for a couple of runs while we were there.
Thank you so much for traveling so far to visit the Salmon River country and for choosing our cabin for your stay. We hope your next adventure is equally enjoyable.
Great little cabin with all the amenities you need.
Beautifully landscaped property and well stocked cabin. Plenty of space in the driveway for a small camper (hookup available) Ralph is super easy to work with and very helpful if you need advice in what to do in the area.
Thank you for choosing the cabin and for the nice review. We appreciate your staying.
Cozy place with sound of stream and great mountain views
The cabin is lovely and very well-appointed. Everything you could possibly need to cook inside and out, and beautiful outdoor spaces to relax. Owner is so easy to work with, and gave us great advice about places to hike and mountain bike. Two reasons we gave it only four stars: it was hot hot hot in Salmon while we stayed here, which meant it was a little toasty in the cabin; and there is no wifi (maybe I misread the description?).
Thank you for staying at the cabin and thank you for your review. We are sorry it was so hot during your stay in Salmon. The majority of Salmon homes have no air conditioning. The cabin has no wifi; however, there is very good wireless service for those who wish to use their own hot spot. Thanks again for staying and for your feedback.
The cabin is very nice, well equiped with all the right touches.
The cabin appeared to be almost new. It was clean, and everything worked. The front porch glider chairs were a real treat, and the deck out to the side was great. The only down side for my wife and I was the bed. It was a regular double bed, and we are used to a king sized. The photo is somewhat misleading. The cabin appears to be out of town somewhere, but it was on a residential street with other houses. Those are minor points. I would stay there again.
Thank you for the 5 star review. We appreciate you staying. The double standard bed fits nicely in the cabin. We most certainly have never tried to mislead anyone on the location. It clearly states in the description that it is in town. Two of the photos even show the neighbors; who are not close, but still there. The cabin sits on a half acre lot with a half acre empty lot below it and a one acre lot above it; all on the creek.
Great little cabin
The cabin was very cute. The big deck was really nice. The perfect size and space for a relaxing weekend. Owners were well organized. I will definitely stay there again the next time I am in Salmon.
Thank you very much for staying at the cabin! We sure appreciate your kind review and certainly welcome you back!
Rented this property as a gift for a friend. Ralph and Debra took the extra time and effort to work with me on reservations, etc and my friend to coordinate his stay and everything else. They went above and beyond.
Thank you for the kind review. We appreciate your booking the cabin for your friend. Thanks for choosing the cabin!
