The large side deck overlooks Jesse Creek and the fire pit area. There is outside seating on this deck with a a grill station for outdoor cooking and eating. The property has accesses to walking trail along the creek that has been used for centuries. The cabin is about 3/4 of a mile from downtown Salmon. About Ralph and Debra Swift
We are a retired couple who lived in Salmon for 18 years prior to moving to Wyoming for a job opportunity. We purchased the property in 2006 with plan for a retirement home. Instead we decided to move to the Boise area to be nearer to the kids and grand kids. We still love the Salmon area and have many friends there. We wanted a place, beyond our camp trailer, to stay when we visit the area and friends. We had an opportunity to buy a log shell from a log home builder in Salmon. We bought it and moved it to the property as our home away from home. We use it mainly in the early spring and late fall. I have been guiding steelhead fishermen from the Cabin for the last 3 years. We both grew up in small towns in Eastern Colorado and still enjoy the small town feeling that Salmon offers but yet it has the amenities of most large towns. Salmon has many outdoor recreation activities that we enjoy as well as restaurants. It has a challenging 9 hole golf course, scenic areas, parks, river walks, mtn. bike trails and other. We feel Salmon is an undiscovered area that can use a boost from tourism. We decided to open our cabin for visitors to enjoy this beautiful valley and friendly people.
Ralph and Debra Swift purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Ralph and Debra Swift chose Salmon
Looking for a base for an outdoor vacation without camping? This cabin takes you back to an earlier time but still offers many comforts of home. It provides a place to relax on the deck or sit by a cozy fire. It provides a place to view nature and to dream of how it might have been back in pioneer days. The cabin sleeps 3 comfortably but has areas for young children with a bit of adventure.
What makes this Cabin unique
There is nothing like sitting on the front deck with a cup of coffee or a beer looking out at the Bitteroot Mtns. The large side deck offers a place to gather, grill a burger or steak, and look out over the landscaping and vegetation along the creek. We have used native plants for the most part to landscape in front and off the deck. This is challenging as the deer also like this area and can often be seen along the creek; along with many birds and humming birds feeding on the flowers. It is a great weekend get away or a home base for a week vacation.

Clean, cozy, and quiet
Spent a couple days here in the spring. Located in town but plenty of privacy due to the lot size and location along a small stream. Sits on a rise on the western side of town so the front porch has a nice view of the mountains. Lots of porch sitting space and a large fire pit area. Gas fireplace/stove was really handy and effective. Well stocked. It is a great chill out place, no electronics. Nice rustic feel, very clean and well taken care of. It’s about a mile to downtown area.
Thank you so much for staying. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
Perfect for a quiet getaway. The cabin was comfortable and clean, kitchen had everything I needed to prepare meals. Spent most mornings on the deck with coffee, enjoying the sunrise while listening to Jessie Creek. Spring flowers were in bloom, so touring the landscaping around the property was a small adventure in itself. Close to town amenities, able to walk to the Salmon River and the Farmers Market.

Cabin is located near Salmon River. Scenic River floats or tubing are both available from the Island Park area in Salmon. White water rafting both day and overnight trips can be booked from several local outfitters. Mtn bike trails are near town. Many scenic Mtn drives or day hikes can easily be reached from the cabin.
