Great quiet time away!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away. The cottage was well stocked and very modernly decorated. Did I mention it is RIGHT ON THE CREEK! It was awesome to be so close to the creek. We enjoyed the fire pit right off the front porch and a well stocked wood pile. WiFi and cell service was spotty but we enjoyed a reason to stay off our phones. Perfectly secluded- no sounds of the city or road- and no light pollution. The stars were beautiful at night. I loved we didn't have to lug anything except food/clothes/ toiletries. The kitchen had all we needed, the wood pile was stocked, nice comfortable camp chairs for around the fire pit, nice towels-blankets-pillows.

Definitely would come back!

Wonderful weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for a weekend, we really enjoyed our stay at The Thristy Bear! Cabin is comfortable and well appointed with all the comforts of home. Everything you need is provided. An Eagle flew over within the 1st hour of our stay! The fire pit is perfectly situated so you can have a little bon fire and enjoy the view of Pine Creek!! We will be back. Thank you

Comfortable, on the creek and easy access to bike trail

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very well equipped, clean, and cozy. I loved the colors and the modern decor. Owner was very easy to work with and responded quickly to emails. We were very pleased with the location of the cabin relative to the Pine Creek rail trail. The creek right outside the front door, fire pit and plenty of wood were great bonuses! Overall would highly recommend this cabin for a couple looking for a nice weekend get away!

Great location for bikers but inaccurate description of house

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is beautifully located directly on the bank of the creek surrounded by other vacation homes. It is very quiet during the week because most of the other homeowners only spend the weekend. The cabin is tastefully decorated and clean. There is enough room for 2 people, 3 would be cramped. We enjoyed the closeness to the rail trail for bike rides. We chose this cabin based on the description on VRBO. Unfortunately, some of the information misrepresented reality. We would not have chosen this cabin had we known the following facts: the advertised "queen size bed" is actually a full size bed, measuring 54"x 74" instead of 60"x 80". Very uncomfortable for 2 people. We were also very disappointed that we were not allowed to use the advertised kayaks that were part of the rental. The owner did not disclose this until we called him from the cabin. We could also not use the broken washer and had to go to a neighboring house to do laundry.

Aside from these misrepresentations we were uncomfortable in the cabin during hot weather, especially at night. There is only a kitchen ceiling fan. We recommend you bring your own fan for the bedroom. Also bring a fly swatter! The bedroom had no dresser for clothes and we had to live out of the suitcases. The tap water from the well tasted fine but constantly varied in color from almost clear to dark brown. You might want to bring a water filter. The owner lives in Florida and is only available by phone. When we reported a natural gas odor in the house it took 3 days before his local care taker showed up. He pointed out a flaw with the stove knobs that we were not aware of. However, he did not fix the reported clogged kitchen faucet. In summary, the location is great, the cabin is nicely decorated, but we did not get what we paid for according to the description on VRBO.
