About Lesley Painter
We are Oregon residents who love the outdoors, be it the mountains, rivers or coastal areas. We love to travel the world and have fell in love with Bend, which reminds us of time we spent in Taos, New Mexico. The high desert sun, smell of the sage and pine, the Deschutes River, surrounding lakes, and mountains all make Bend a wonderful place to get outdoors. Though we have to admit, the many good restaurants have us staying close to our home-away -from-home for an easy walk to dinner or a drink with friends. Our children love being close to the park, Goodie's (ice cream parlor), Powell's Candy Store and a short walk to home after a float down the river. We hope you will enjoy Bend and the surrounding area as much as we do. Cheers! - Lesley & Daniel, Portland, OR

Charming Spacious Bungalow
We were greatly surprised by the spaciousness of the bungalow. The working fireplace was a plus (we burned many a duraflame log while there). The furniture and both beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking although the stove was outdated it was very functional. The tiny dishwasher was a plus. The location is perfect - although it is on busy Newport, it is set back off the road enough to minimize road noise of which none reaches the bedrooms. The only minuses were: the back yard fencing could use some updating as a dog could easily slip out and with a busy road out front that is scary. The garage opener, although working, gave the impression the door was going to fall off each time it was opened - we stopped using the garage after the first day. The house wasn't fully cleaned before our arrival (there was a log in the fireplace and some fluff on the carpets) but overall the sufficiently clean. Not sure if the customers before us had a dog but if they did they may have left fleas behind as both myself and my partner suffered bites while there. I would definitely stay here again.
Clean, cozy, comfy!
Great location near Drake Park, Newport Market and fun eateries. Walking distance to shops and restaurants and the river.
We enjoyed our stay. The house is very close to old town. We loved Bend it is the best dog town ever. The river is one block away. We would come back for sure.
Comfortable, welcoming, great location
We had an amazing time at the bungalow, loved being able to walk downtown. And home from the end of the river float! So many thoughtful touches--USB charging ports, filled water filter in the fridge, spices on the stove. Thank you!
Having guests like you is what we love about sharing our home with visitors to Bend! We are so glad you enjoyed exploring Bend and using the Bend Bungalow as your home base. We do so hope you visit us again.
happy travels! - Lesley
Very 1940's - but generally clean and comfortable
Had trouble initially with the combo key lock to get in. Had to call owner to get an update, but thankfully she was home and we were able to get in. Very warm weekend, so the ceiling fans in the bedrooms were a big help. Front bedroom bed pretty uncomfortable.
Somewhat complicated to get TV on, but worked fine. The place could use a little updating, but was comfortable enough. Friendly owner - Instructed to start wash with towels before leaving, but could not find detergent and had to improvise.
Old, hot, and smells
The layout was nice and the place was clean although it felt like it had layers of dirt underneath. the sockets in the walls often would not hold a plug, there is no AC which was too bad when it was 90+ degrees. Outside smells like cat and the inside smells old and musky.
The location is great. Our van would not fit in the garage. It was nice to have access to a washer and dryer.
Dealing with Lesley was very nice but we probably would not come again.
I am glad you liked the location of the Bend Bungalow. You certainly did have the hottest weekend of the year!
I appreciate your candid review and will see where we can improve the experience for all guests. Since we have no cats on the property, I appreciate your feedback that you think there are cat smells outside. We will look into power washing the whole area and hopefully as the temperatures return to normal there will be no strange odors emerging.
It is an older home full of vintage charm that embodies what we love about old Bend! I hope you continue to explore and enjoy Bend for many years to come.
All the best- Lesley
