We are located near the end of Bark's Point overlooking Lake Superior and the Western Apostle Islands with Barks Bay. A picturesque 3-hour drive from MSP and less than an hour from Bayfield, Madeline Island, Apostle Island National Lakeshore, Sea Caves, Cornucopia, Winery's and more!

==>No Surcharge for Cleaning- All Money Received goes directly to Local Cleaners
==>No Surcharge for Extra Guests, we charge based on max occupancy
==>Groups of 8 or less who only want 1/2 the house can get a cleaning fee of 175$, just ask when you book. It has all of the main living areas, with 3 private bedrooms.
==>No Parties- neighbors have grown to expect peace and quiet, and we will not be jeopardizing that. It doesn't mean you can't be outside, just please be mindful of your surroundings.
==> We recently upgraded our back deck to a concrete patio so summer 2026 may look different than pictures posted until landscaping is done.

Family Vacation

This is the perfect private getaway for a Family Vacation right on Lake Superior. Excellent view of the Lake. The house had every amenity you could need. Great space, plenty of room. Hosts are amazing!

Perfect house for our family vacation

Everything about this house was great, plenty of room for my family of 9, location to local towns and the Apostle Islands, communication with property owner, and beautiful views of the lake! I really appreciate all of the extra towels and bedding because other VRBO’s are sometimes not so generous. We also loved the abundance of seating in the great room, we’ve been to several homes that only seat a few when the home sleeps 10-15, so that was fantastic. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful views, unique design of home.

Our group of 11 all enjoyed the Superior views, plenty of beds, and the unique design of the home. The kitchen lacked nothing and the native wildlife was on display. Excellent property, highly recommend.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful time with our whole family over Thanksgiving. The house was spacious with plenty of room to both spend time together and spread out to get a little space. The host was really responsive and helpful. The house did feel a little bit like a maze to start with but was okay once you got use to it.

Sibling vacation

There was 14 brothers, sisters and in-laws, she ranging from 58-77. We had a blast, the place was great for us all to visit and sleep comfortably, altho we did get lost in the house a few times , it made it an unforgettable stay. Thank you Luke

Amazing home, space, view, people to work with! The owner Luke was almost instantly responsive to any questions or info I needed. I've never stayed in a vrbo that was that well-stocked with EVERYTHING. And the view was breathtakingly magnificent. The cleaner Renee couldn't have been nicer or more helpful with all of our questions and needs. I give Luke, his staff and home a thousand stars!

Fall Family Getaway

The prosperity is very spacious and has separate spaces for multiple families, beautiful views of the lake and an awesome well stocked kitchen! We enjoyed grilling and a bon fire overlooking the lake. We loved the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks, and are looking forward to be back next year!

Winter Wonderland

This was the perfect size for our large group. Very cozy! The teens/young adults enjoyed having one side of the house to themselves. Beautiful views, even in winter! Our favorite part was the location right on the lake. We were able to park in the heated garage, too. Definite bonus!

Huge house, completely private

We were nine people and a few dogs, we stayed in Herbster for five days. Could not have been happier with the place! Plenty of room, well-equipped, very comfortable. Just a 40 minute, beautiful drive from Bayfield, where we visited twice ... though we were happy to spend most of our time just hanging out in the big yard playing games and watching the lake. We will definitely be back!

Amazing Place!

This house was very clean, spacious, and welcoming. We loved the location of the house. The view of Lake Superior was stunning at all times, but especially at sunrise and sunset. Our hosts were very accommodating and available whenever we had questions. Thank you for the time we spent in your house. We would highly recommend this beautiful peaceful house. We will back again!

Great place for a family of 12

The location was beautiful and there was a lot of space to spread out in the house. It was a bit of a maze to figure out the floor plan, as most of the rooms and all of the bathrooms have two entrances. Some of the bedrooms are open spaces, so there isn't a lot of privacy, so that's something to be aware of. There is a lot to do in the area, from parks and beaches to hiking and visiting nearby communities. We had an issue with the property and the owners were super quick and responsive and made it right immediately. Would recommend.

Wonderful Lake Superior spot to escape

This “cabin” by the lake is great for small or large groups. The location is on the water (listen to the waves) with a spectacular sunrise orientation. It is remote, but we loved it as it was ideally located for the activities we enjoy - bike riding (check out trails in Duluth and north shore), kayaking (Cornucopia and Washburn), hiking, and relaxing with the sound of the waves. The cabin is well appointed and has the most spectacular kitchen that is well stocked with cookware and great knives that actually do the job when slicing and dicing. (We stay in a lot of rentals, and this usually is not the case.) Cornucopia, Apostle Islands, and Bayfield are all excellent. Plus, we found a great pup sitter in the general area via Rover.com for our Mylo when we were out with activities he couldn’t join in on. Also, if you are there in the summer, Bayfield has an amazing collection of produce/fruit stands. Iron River has an exceptional meat market (Jim’s). And, be sure to enjoy a Friday fish fry if you are in the area. We were there almost two weeks. Enjoy!

July stay at Lake Superior rental

Rented home July 16-23. Upon arrival, we found the home was not clean; rugs, chair coverings were dirty and stained. There was dust and dirt under beds and around furniture. We cleaned the areas that were dirty. A bag of dog poop was lying next to the food grills in the garage. The garage had empty cardboard boxes and a lot of junk lying around. The outdoor grills were dirty. We cleaned the gas grill Saturday early evening to be able to use it. The house was in need of many repairs. Walls need patching, painting; the outdoor screened door on porch was ripped, the molding around the shower door and the glass panel in the basement bathroom was falling off, light bulbs in the kitchen ceiling needed to be replaced, the screen door on the sliding doors in the lower level fell off. The box spring on the bed in the room with the sliding barn door was broken, a leg on the bench at the kitchen table was wobbly. The yard had not been mowed. I contacted the owner the day we arrived and informed him of the condition of the house and yard. He sent over a repair man, someone to mow the yard and a cleaning lady to clean the pellet grill. The repair man fixed the leg on the bench, replaced the light bulbs in the kitchen ceiling, reapplied the molding to the shower door glass and attempted to fix the broken bed but it was not able to be repaired. The repair man was unable to replace the screen on the screen door porch. We were told the local hardware store did not have replacement screen. The refrigerator in the kitchen areas had been defrosted and cleaned and we were not able to use it when we arrived as it had been turned off. The owner indicated we could access the private area in the lower level as there is another refrigerator in that area. The private area was not locked as were told it would be. When we entered the private area that was dead mouse on the floor and a cluttered dirty room. The yard has an overgrowth of bushes and trees blocking the view of the lake. We noticed other houses on Lake Superior did not have the overgrowth that this property did. On day 4 of our visit, biting black flies swarmed the house and yard. We asked a neighbor about this, and she stated the flies had just hatched and would be everywhere. No one has control over the biting black flies.

Wonderful views of lake. Cabin had everything you needed. Well stocked, lots of towels and plillows. Beds were very comfortable. We had a nice campfire the last night we were there. Made some wonderful memories. Will definately come back

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful spot on Lake Superior! The setting was peaceful and the views were amazing. Our friends from out of state had a blast. The amenities were great and plenty of space. Unfortunately, there was a small hiccup with the water during our stay, but Luke, the owner, handled it with professionalism, kindness, and generosity. He went above and beyond to make things right, which we truly appreciated. We’d happily return!

Our family of 8 adults and 4 children under 6 were extremely comfortable at this property. The kitchen/dining/gathering room was more than ample. The dining area seated the entire family. The HUGE couch seated the crew as well. The kitchen is wonderful and multiple refrigerators really help. The yard is well kept and very inviting. We had a great week!

Fabulous time!

Our family and friends from Germany had a wonderful time staying in this lovely home in a beautiful setting. The area is so peaceful and the house so well equipped! We were really impressed and grateful for all the extra nice touches the hosts included. We usually need an extensive supply run after checking in but that was not necessary this time. We loved the outdoor spaces. The communication with the hosts was prompt and thorough,

We wanted a property that could host larger groups as we come from big families and have struggled in the past to find something that could accommodate us all. Combine that with the large, breathtaking views of the lake and we knew we had to have it.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

It is one of the few houses along the south shore that enjoys a sunrise view, and it is also protected from the large northern winds that have a tendency to destroy shoreline for people on the west side of Bark's Point. It is also one of the largest cabin rentals you will find while still allowing everyone to sleep under the same roof. The unique 2nd story screened in porch with the panoramic views are our favorite part of the home.
