Log Cottages By The Large Lake

Kriipi's cottages are located in the municipality of Hattula, beside of Kriipi's nature reserve and Tenhola hills. There are two cottages Kaisla and Lumme. These well-equipped cottages are available for all-year living and located near good road connections. Cottages are similar but they are mirror images of each other. Cottages have the official best classification. Both cottages are comfortably furnished and offers all modern convenience for you to feel like home. The unspoiled Finnish nature begins at your doorstep.

Each house has its own waterfront, a row boat and a jetty by the lake of the large Vanajavesi Lake, known for its great fishing. The beautiful lake is rich in fish Vanajavesi, which is one of the largest lakes in the country of a thousands lakes. Area of the lake is 120 km2. The lake has almost hundred islands. Vanajavesi valley is one of most beautiful Finnish national views. The central location of the cottages enables a wide range of leisure activities all year round.

In the winter, after refreshing outdoor activities you can enjoy the warmth of your own sauna. When the weather freezes, you can curl up next to the cosy fireplace and enjoy the beautiful winter landscape.
In the spring, you can observe the nature springing into the life and becoming greener day by day. In the spring and all through the summer, the days will get longer and longer, and in mid-summer the sun will not go down at all.
In the autumn, you can pick berries and mushrooms in the nearby forest (in Finland berry and mushroom picking is included in the so-called everyman's rights). The autumn is also one of the best fishing seasons.

After you have been to the villa's original wood-stove sauna by the lake, and perhaps even taken a dip in the lake or rolled in the snow, you will understand why Finns love the sauna experience so dearly.

Each house has a wireless internet connection (Wifi).

The cottages are also suitable those with allergies; therefore pets are not allowed and smoking is not allowed inside the cottages.

The number of people using the cottage must not exceed the number of sleeping places (6 adults +2 children).

We strive to only use ecological and environment-friendly solutions in recycling and the energy efficiency of the guest houses.

Cottage Lumme will be at the guest's disposal from 17.00 on the day of arrival until 13.00 on the day of departure. We hope that you do not arrive to the cottage any later than 19.00. In the case of weekend renting, the cottage will be at the guest's disposal from 16.00 on Friday until 20.00 on Sunday. We hope that you can estimate and let us know the time of arrival in advance. You will receive the keys to the cottage upon your arrival. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE WARMLY WELCOME.

Ein wundervolles Ferienhaus.

Wir haben ab dem Haus wirklich nichts vermisst. Sehr gut eingerichtet. Die Umgebung mit den See unmittelbar am Haus und dein Ruderboot, ist der perfekte Ort um vom Stress abzuschalten. Das Haus ist groß genug um auch längere Regenperioden aussitzen zu können. Dann geht man in die Sauna und liest ein Buch. Helsinki ist etwas mehr als eine Stunde entfernt und Tampere 45 Minuten. Supermärkte sind acht Minuten entfernt und bieten das volle Sortiment. Ende August sind die Wälder rundherum voll Pilze und in einer halben Stunde ist der Korb bestens gefüllt. Wer angeln will findet beste Möglichkeiten. Die Mücken waren Ende August auch nicht mehr so extrem zahlreich wie bei unserer letzten Reise nach Finnland an Mittsommer. Erja ist eine wundervolle Gastgeberin. Alles in allem, wir kommen wieder!

Een ruime cottage, van alle gemakken voorzien. Zeer schoon, echt top. Uitgebreide keuken met meer dan voldoende apperatuur. Mooi houtkachel en een prima sauna. Prachtig uitzicht over meer. Buiten hoor je de autoweg, binnen helemaal niet.

Das Ferienhaus war gemütlich und hochwertig ausgestattet. Wir haben uns von der ersten Minute an wohlgefühlt. Das Grundstück ist sehr gepflegt. Wir haben die Natur genossen, das Rudern auf dem See, träumen auf dem Bootssteg mit einer Tasse finnischer Mokka. Sauna am Abend und Himbeeren sammeln in der direkten Nähe zum Haus. Sogar Rehe haben uns im Garten besucht. Es war schwer, dieses Paradies wieder zu verlassen.

Lovely relaxing snowy break!

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. The host sent us lots of information beforehand and was always quick to reply to any messages / emails. The property is lovely and in a very quiet, secluded location with an amazing view out over the lake (we stayed in Kaisla cottage). There was so much snow which was great for us all (including our two children aged 9 & 11) and there were two sledges left our for us to use while we were there, which was a lovely touch. The log fire and sauna were also amazing! We’ll definitely be telling our friends about this place and would highly recommend it as we had a lovely break.

Beautiful location,super cottage,friendly host...!

Cottage location is ideal...secluded enough to feel like your'e very alone yet close enough to a village that has a couple of great supermarkets ...only a 10 minute drive away. The cottage is well appointed with 2 double bedrooms and further beds on a mezzanine level which our teenagers enjoyed. A large living area/kitchen is well equipped and has a great dining table.... The wood burning sauna was well used on our stay and heats up swiftly and easily seats 6.. after which a short run to the lake for a cooling dip was much appreciated... Theres a great gas BBQ outside where we cooked most meals whilst admiring the beautiful sunsets over the lake ...beer in hand...

Perfect place to spend a quiet, relaxing week

The Lumme cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Having been travelling throughout the region with two young children the week before, we wanted a cozy place to settle for a week. Lumme cottage is in a gorgeous setting with everything you need. Lakefront, a rowboat at your disposal, a fire pit and even a small swing set for young children. Inside the cottage was very well done with space for our family and more. The kitchen was stocked with all the kitchen wares you would need, and the spa was a perfect way to end the day! We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to our friends and family.

Great location and accommodating owner!

Erja's cottage is located very conveniently to the major highway between Helsinki and Tampere. Yet it feels very remote. Erja met us when we arrived, and helped us settle in. She was very good about checking in regularly to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. The cottage is well maintained and all the amenities we could possibly have expected were available to us. We would definitely consider coming back the next time we're planning on being in the area.

A gem in the deep forest of Finland

The cottages lies 1 1/2 hours drive from Helsinki. A perfect distance for a day trip to this nice city. We arrived late (almost midnight). Even at that time we had a personal and warm welcome. Erja showed us the cottage and explained everything. Erja is a perfect host and takes good care of her visitors. The cottage is a gem. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the Fire Stove Sauna is beautiful. I can recommend this nice place and if it goes back to Finland one day, I already know where I want to stay.

A very nice holiday

It 'was a really good holiday. The cottage is beautiful. Equipped with all the comforts. Spotless. In a splendid setting. Erja, the owner, was very kind and always available. A small flaw, but not important, it is the noise of the nearby highway that you feel when you are out (from the inside can not hear anything). The cottage is close to roads and services but in the woods (we saw a deer, squirrels, swans, rabbits). We strongly recommend this place.

We had a short holiday in Finland for a wedding and stayed at a wonderfull house. Like you see in advertisements, on a lake with our own rowingboat, swimming location, fireplace, picknick place, veranda and of course our own sauna! A very nice house for 6 persons, 3 bedrooms. A very big livingroom with a view on the lake. A well equiped kitchen a big tv incluiding a game computer, but we did'nt have time for that. The Glass factory of iitala very close by (20 minute drive by car trough the woods) and the pitorekse town Hameenlinna nearby (20 minutes by car via the E12) with its castle by the lake and a beautiful park: Aulanko.

Idyllic

We decided to hire the cottage for a week to enjoy a relaxing getaway for our honeymoon and we couldn't have made a better choice. The location is fantastic with a beautiful view over the lake and all the facilities that you could ask for in the cottage. The location in the woodland was glorious, with easy access to the motorway by car allowing you to use it as an excellent base for day trips to the beautiful countryside and places of interest. Each evening we made sure to return home for the spectacular sunsets over the lake at night, made even better with a barbecue and/or camp fire. With all the local amenities you could ask for just a short drive away, but being located in such beautiful isolation, we really couldn't have asked for more!

Contemporary cottage in the woods

We just spent a week at cottage "Lumme" near Parola, Finland and it was a perfect get away for our family of 5. The communication and reservation before our actual holiday went very smoothly, which in itself is always very reassuring that the vacation will be fine too. It was a pleasure working with the owners. They are both very nice people. When we arrived at the cottage we were stunned. It's just so beautiful and very clean. It's decorated tastefully and our kids (7yrs, and twins of 3) just loved it straight away. And so did we :) From all kinds of kitchen utensils (all new and shiny), to video games (which we didn't use nor care for honestly :)), to floor heating and a very nice sauna... this cottage has it all. The cottage is located in the woods and the view on the lake is awesome. It's true that since the house is near the great highway connecting Helsinki and Tampere you hear this buzz in the background most of the time, but by the second day we got used to it (inside you don't hear it at all). I have already recommended this cottage to a friend of mine today.

Wonderful holiday in the lake house.

Website descriptions couldn't possibly do this beautiful location justice. Fabulous, we will certainly come again. We received such a warm welcome, which made the stay even more enjoyable. What a fantastic cottage to experience the real Finland. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Everything was impeccably clean, good quality equipment, comfortable beds. Next time we will come for two weeks it passes so quickly.

Luxurious and comfortable in an idyllic l

My husband and I had the most wonderful holiday owing to the comfortable and very finely appointed cottage (Lumme) coupled with the most gorgeous view we have possibly ever seen from our chosen accommodation. Firstly, the cottage. Clean, bright and airy with everything you would need to self cater. Good size tv and fast wifi if you want to stay connected. The sauna was SUPERB and so relaxing that we had one each evening, then watched the sun disappear on the terrace with a cold beer! The bed was really comfortable too. Outside the cottage was also a delight. The setting is stunning with natural forest surrounding the house but with a direct view to the beautiful lake. The jetty was a spot for a few sunset drinks also, and we built two fires in the lakeside fireplace which was fun. The use of the row boat was a bonus but we found benefit in hiring an electric motor from Arto. That way we were able to explore the neighbouring inlet as well as the island opposite the cabin - with minimal effort!! The cottage is also really well located with supermarkets only a short drive away. Proximity to interesting towns was also a bonus - we visited Hameenlinna and Tampere whilst staying there and it only took us an hour to get to Helsinki Vantaa airport on the way out. It should be pointed out that there can be some "murmur" from the highway, depending on the direction of the wind but it was not irritating or distracting when it was apparent. And it would never stop us booking Lumme again Erja and Arto were extremely helpful and only a text message away during our stay, if required. And the contact we had up until arrival was always friendly and professional. We cannot recommend staying in Lumme cottage highly enough and have already sent the link to several friends. You will not be disappointed should you choose to book! Many thanks Erja and Arto. We didn't want to leave!

We are Erja and Arto Laine, farmers from the municipality of Hattula which is located in the middle of south Finland. We have three adult children. Our own home, the main farm house of the estate, is located 2 km from the cottages. We are a small family company and we are dedicated to offer you friendly and unique service. We are looking forward to having you as our guest in our cottages as well as in Finland.

Why they chose this property

Arto’s family have had this farm since the late 1800's, and we have continued farming since 1994. The cottage called Kaisla (Bulrush) was completed in the spring of 2007, and another one, called Lumme (Waterlily), by the end of the same year.
The versatile culture environment in the Vanajavesi valley was formed during centuries. Due to its fertile surroundings, the Vanajavesi waterway has provided a favourable place for inhabitation. The first farmers lived in this area as early as in the Iron Age. There has been a prosperous manor house culture with fine parks since the Middle Ages. The oldest cottages by lake Vanajavesi were built in the 1800’s.

What makes this property unique

Ridges, lakes, fields, forests and marshes are typical of the landscape. As the phrase goes; Finland is the land of a thousands lakes. The beautiful Lake Vanajavesi is 31st largest lake. Kriipi’s island and the surrounding water area included in the Finnish Natura 2000 network of nature protection areas. Here you can also observe a variety of birds, such as ducks, terns, great crested grebes and swans. Deer, elks and foxes are common in this area. At dusk, there are tailed deer moving near the cottages. After you have been in an original wood stove sauna and swum in the lake or rolled in the snow, you’ll understand why Finns love the sauna.
