About Wendy Wilson
My husband and I fell in love with Worth Matravers on our very first visit and were delighted to move to the village in 1985. We purchased the original plot in 1996 and by 2002 had finished the new property to our own design that we love to share with families and friends coming to stay and spend time together .
Why Wendy Wilson chose Worth Matravers
We've known and loved the area since the 1970's and the village has that special atmosphere of sea, coast and countryside unique to the Purbecks, convenient to everywhere but with a unique and beautiful setting all it's own. We love the panoramic views from the house and the way that you can step out the front door into the most beautiful landscape, with the Jurassic Coast path at your feet, pop to the village pub, stroll to the traditional village green and duck pond but be on the beach with bucket, spade and deck chairs within a few minute's drive.
What makes this House unique
This really is the perfect house for families and friends getting together. It's architect designed and tailor-made for 3 generation families, extended family groups and friends. There's plenty of room to spend time together in comfort, and with 5 bedrooms and zip and link beds in 3 of the 5 bedrooms, there's loads of flexibility in offering space and comfort for each individual booking. We love having families with babies and children, and can provide the bulky equipment like cots, a toddler bed and high chairs as a complimentary extra to make your holiday with youngsters as hassle free as possible. Children and adults love the spacious downstairs layout, there's masses of room for kids to play and and plenty of comfortable sofas so everyone can spread out and relax. Outside living is amply catered for, with stunning views to the sea and an enclosed rear garden with wrap around terraces and seating. Plenty of off road parking too! The kitchen is amply equipped to cater for the guest number and there are lots of thoughtful extras. The lovely conservatory dining room is a super plus, with a fantastic big table seating 10 for wonderful family meals together. The sea views from the house are just amazing and altogether it's the perfect place to make happy family holidays a resounding success.

Fantastic stay, homely with amazing views and loads of accessible beaches
We were warmly welcomed and treated to the basic necessities after travelling to the holiday home. The house was clean and homely and our children enjoyed the dolls house and train set available to play with. Everyday we were treated to amazing views of the sea and walks just outside the door and many beautiful places and beaches in the surrounding area. Would love to return when time allows. Owners were available if help was needed very friendly. The pictures do not do the house justice, on paper we thought it was good but in reality it was better than we anticipated.
Thank you for your lovely review, I’m delighted the house and the area was ideal for your family holiday and that the children enjoyed the train set and doll’s house! I’m so glad the accommodation provided a welcoming and comfortable base for your family holiday.
Sept 2018, Family holiday no kids.
A lovely presented and very well appointed holiday home. One of the best our family has visited over many years. The views were outstanding and being able to go coastal path walking/running from the front door was a huge bonus. Ideally situated for exploring Dorset. We are likely to return in the future to do all the things we didn't have time for.
Thank you for your great review, it’s really rewarding to read your positive comments about our house, and I’m delighted the setting, sea views and access to the Jurassic Coast paths and countryside suited your family holiday so well. We’d be really pleased to welcome you back again in the future.
Lovely property in a beautiful area
Nine of us stayed in this property very comfortably. There are 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with an additional loo downstairs. The kitchen has everything you need to cook dinners, and there is plenty of room in the sitting room for all of us to sit and chat, and the dining room table and chairs easily accommodated all of us together at meal times. The owner Wendy is very helpful and is on hand for help but only if you want it. Her notes on how the house works and her local guide on trips and places to visit including restaurants, pubs and tea rooms is very comprehensive and we followed it a lot.
The area is full of lovely walks and places to visit if you prefer to drive, and there is a perfect olde worlde local pub, and a very nice tea room which changes to a restaurant in the evening just a short stone's throw away.
Do not worry about renting this property, it is a genuinely good place to spend a week or two.
Thank you for your lovely and genuinely helpful review Christopher, you were all wonderful guests and it’s great to hear that the property and the area worked so well for everyone. I’m really honoured to earn your good opinion and would like to say thank you for trusting me with your holiday. We’d love to welcome you all back again anytime.
Large holiday home with stunning views.
This property is large with plenty of parking and very well equipped. It is in an ideal location to explore the Jurassic coast. The description was very accurate and I would recommend staying here whatever size your party is. Wendy was a great host and we were pleasantly surprised by the welcome gifts. I have stayed in many properties over the years and consider myself a cottage snob so trust me you will love this one. It was well cleaned and has high standards the owner is on hand should you need her and is very supportive to your needs. Plenty to see and do all around and a lovely village to come home to with a great quirky pub. Enjoy!
Wow, thank you for your amazing review Gary! It was a pleasure to welcome you and your family. Your comments are much appreciated and it’s really rewarding to hear the house and your family holiday was much enjoyed. You and your family were absolutely five star guests. Thank you!
A comfortable and well equipped house in a lovely village.
The views from Compass Cottage are wonderful and it is possible to access excellent footpaths from the village. We were three generations on holiday and the house worked well for all of us.

Good location for beaches and places of interest.
The sitting room was huge and a room we would all like to have at home. Generous welcome gifts and the house and outside area were very clean.
Thank you,Wendy for a great holiday.
