About Nick Ferguson
I first visited Fort William in 1979 kayaking & to do Ben Nevis. Been going ever since, mainly for walking, climbing & mountaineering. I bought the apartment from a mountaineering & business buddy. If I cant live there then I would like as many other people as possible to enjoy what Fort William & its surrounds has to offer.
Nick Ferguson purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Nick Ferguson chose Fort William
There's only so many times you can visit one place before it becomes logical to have a permanent base at that location. The apartment has benefited from extensive modernisation work. The latest investments include Solar Thermal panel, LED downlighters and double glazed units to replace the original wooden sash windows.
What makes this Apartment unique
Walking, climbing, mountaineering, biking. Everyday you get different views & conditions. Love relaxing late afternoon, sitting upstairs on the balcony looking out over the Loch. Even better with a glass of wine!

The views are unbelievable and it was warm and spacious. A fantastic place for our stay.
This is a spacious and lovely place. Kitchen has all you need and the roof lounge is spectacular. Within walking distance to the train if you're going on the Jacobite train. Shops nearby and all activities at your door step. Good parking and lots of space in rooms. I would recommend this as a place for families or groups on holiday plus a romantic getaway using the ensuite bedroom in the lounge. We have had a fabulous stay.
Well appointed house in a great location
We can recommend this accomodation as it had everything we needed, easy access to the high street and train station with easy parking off the street. Would definitely stay here again.
The view from the top floor is wonderful. The accommodation is some what strange. 4 places for beds ,yes , 4 bedrooms ,no. Upstair lounge is also a bedroom and although super for socializing is not exactly suitable for anyone but last to bed and first up. Equipment is fairly good but the whole place is tired, shabby upholstery and windows and balcony doors that either do not open or do not shut. Having said that its great for the town centre pub ect. Shame it just shabby.
There was 8 of us on a short break we have had an amazing time .The house was well equipped .
We have loved our stay at the harbour masters house so spacious and very comfortable. We will certainly book this property again .in the future.
Great location. Met all the basic needs of our party.
Spacious, well-equipped and with amazing views
This is an excellent property for a large group - it has 8 beds and a fold out sofa bed in the lounge. All the rooms are of a good size. The upstairs lounge is amazing - it is huge and the views it gives down Loch Linnhe and across to Loch Eil are fantastic. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room seats 8 comfortably. The dishwasher is a real bonus - it does the dirty dishes whilst you go out. The position in the town is excellent too - only 3 minutes walk to the High Street but completely quiet. There is ample parking too. You don't come to Fort William to stay inside - but for those times when you are inside the Old Harbour Master's Apartment offers you everything you want.
The only very minor niggles are that there isn't a decent tin opener and the tap in the kitchen drips - I am sure that it just needs a new washer.
Notwithstanding these minor issues this is definitely a 5 star place to stay.
Loch & river side walks within 10 mins walk from property.
Inverness airport 75m, 2hrs. Fort William train station, including Sleeper service to & from London. Glasgow & Edinburgh 2-3hrs drive.
Town centre High Street is 2 mins walk. Start/end of Great Glen Way & West Highland Way. Ben Nevis 2m to footpath. Easy access to Cow Hill footpaths & mountain bike tracks that are part of a large network of paths.
Town has wide selection of restaurants, several supermarkets, banks, bars, museum. Site of the original Fort and old Inverlochy Castle are nearby.
