La Garenne is a sunny two bedroom, self contained gite with super views over the river. There is a private garden with your own splash pool and furnished sun deck. A patio equipped for "al fresco" dining .Sun loungers are provided as well as a barbecue.

Inside you will find :-
1 double bedroom, King size bed, opening onto balcony with village and river views.

1 bedroom with two single beds.

Mulberry silk filled Duvets and Toppers are provided for that extra bit of luxury.

There is a shower room with toilet.

Open plan lounge / kitchen diner

La Garenne is situated on the side of the river Vienne, opposite the village. The village provides a shop, bar, Post Office, bakery and chemist and is a short (200m) walk across the bridge.

Lovely relaxing property

We had a great time at La Garenne. Dave and Heather were really helpful and provided us with ideas of family activities and local restaurants (all of which were lovely) and the gite was well equipped with everything needed. The pool is also much bigger than the picture shows - perfect for our 8 and 10 year olds to play in. Great boulangerie and bar in the village too.

The property looked good on the website but it exceeded our expectations. A lot of thought and work has gone into making the gîte a very comfortable and well equipped place to holiday. We loved this place, such an amazing location. The property was very clean, comfortable and provided everything you could need. Check in was simple, the owner was there to welcome us and was available for anything if needed. Dave also gave us some great advice regarding fishing further along the river which made my partner's stay perfect! We loved the view of the river from the property and particularly appreciated the lovely pool especially as temperatures were pretty high during our stay. Dave and Heather are very friendly hosts who gave us complete space to enjoy our holiday whilst being on hand if needed. Thank you so much.

This lovely gite is the perfect place for couples/small groups wanting a relaxing and peaceful break in the beautiful Charente region.The gite has been thoughtfully converted and is prefectly set up with everything you need for your holiday. Well maintained gardens with a good selection of garden furniture for dining and relaxing, and the bonus of a private pool!Finally, location... the gite overlooks the beautiful vienne river providing stunning views especially from the balcony and additional seating area on the river bank. Its also well located for exploring the area and enjoying the french lifestyle!

Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Das Haus war perfekt. Wir hatten in all den Jahren keine derart perfekten Gastgeber. Sie waren sehr diskret, so dass die unmittelbare Nähe nicht gestört hat. Sie waren aber sehr hilfsbereit, wenn wir eine Frage oder ein Problem hatten. Es gab eigentlich alles, sogar parfümiertes Schrankpapier in den Schubladen. Das hatten wir noch nie erlebt.Vielen Dank und liebe Grüße an die wundervollen Gastgeber.

Perfect Gite for couples and small families

Dave and Heather couldn't have been more kind and helpful from arrival to departure, however they did not intrude on our privacy at any time. The gite has a lot of character and is equipped to a very high standard. Everything we needed was there. We particularly enjoyed the plunge pool with decking for sunbathing and outside seating area. It was very nice walking out the front door in the morning to the view of the river and town with the smell of fresh lavender. The boulangerie in Exideuil just the other side of the river sells great croissants, bread and cakes. The bikes Dave provided were used regularly in the mornings to visit the boulangerie We would definitely return in the future and highly recommend this accommodation.

Dave, Heather and family moved to France in 2009.

We had been holidaying in France for many years and decided that it was time for a permanent change in our life style.

We loved the region for its unspoilt beauty and the friendliness of the inhabitants. They made us feel welcome and were proud of their little part of France. We now want to try to share that with other travellers.

Why they chose this property

We wanted to be in rural France and within driving distance of the channel ports. The village is equidistant from the major towns of Limoges and Angouleme. These provide links to both airports and motorway networks.

The house is beside the river Vienne and opposite the small village of Exideuil. The village has some shops and is just a few minutes walk away.

The peace and quiet of the location, along with the abundant wild life make it a very relaxing place to spend those lazy afternoons.

What makes this property unique

Fantastic riverside views.

Private garden with your own private splash pool.

You can walk to the village to collect your daily groceries and bread. Then spend a leisurely breakfast on the balcony or patio.

There is plenty of wildlife to watch, or perhaps those budding artists would like to paint or draw.

There are river activities outside our doorstep and these include canoeing and fishing.

The property is on some of the designated circular walks and cycle tracks in the area and is an ideal base to explore the Charente countryside.
