Lying in a sunny, south-facing position in the alpine village of Mauterndorf, Chalet Lewin is a spacious 5 bedroom house, just a short walk away from the village centre, with its historic attractions, restaurants and bars. A perfect location for both skiing & summer activities in the Lungau and Tauern valleys.
There are a choice of 4 easily accessible ski areas, each with slopes above 2000m and with ski schools for all abilities. The ski bus to Grosseck-Speiereck stops just 50m from the house and the lifts are approximately 5 mins drive away. The neighbouring ski resorts of Obertauern, Fanningberg and Katschberg can all be accessed by ski buses from the village centre. Winter sports abound- tobogganing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing to name a few.
In summer, the area provides stunning scenery for a wide range of activities incl. hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, Nordic walking, canoeing and rafting. Within a 10 min walk of the house you can enjoy the outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, mini-golf, explore the village shops, or experience one of the many cultural traditions/festivals the village has retained.

What a fabulous place! A great size for 9 of us (2 families) to comfortably stay for 12 days. The chalet is very well equipped, we all enjoyed the books and games in the lounge (Scrabble championships each night!) Great views over the mountains and valley. Weather was hot and we watched some amazing evening thunderstorms! Village is a very pretty 10 minute walk away which has a selection of restaurants, a supermarket and a lovely swimming pool. We had plenty to do and visit our stay... waterfalls, cable car trips, lakes, Salzburg, and we even dipped into Italy and Slovenia for the day. We would thoroughly recommend this stunning location...we would love to return.

Wunderbarer Urlaub

Meine Familie und ich hatten eine wunderbare Zeit im Chalet Lewin. Das Haus ist fĆ¼r groƟe Gruppen hervorragend, gut ausgestattet, viel Platz, gemĆ¼tlich und liegt fĆ¼r AusflĆ¼ge ideal. Uns hat nichts gefehlt. Der Kontakt mit Sharron Lewin, auch in diesen schwierigen Zeiten, war hervorragend und die vor Ort Ansprechpartnerin war sehr freundlich.

Gezellig, ruim huis, kleine keuken met ruime inventaris en een aparte zitkamer. Genoeg ruimte om je terug te trekken en om samen een partijtje te pingpongen. Vijf ruime slaapkamers met kasten. Goed overleg met de eigenaar en de plaatselijke contactpersoon. Flexibel en snel in de communicatie. Schoon en op loopafstand van het dorp. We hebben genoten met twee families in dit comfortabele, basic huis!

Super Familien Urlaub in einem tollen und gemĆ¼tlichen Haus und in toller Umgebung

Wir hatten einen sehr schƶnen Urlaub in Mauterndorf- das Haus ist groƟ und gerƤumig und hat alles, was man fĆ¼r einen Familienurlaub benƶtigt, inklusive Spiele, Tischtennisplatte, Bibliothek mit BĆ¼chern etc (lediglich eine Waschmaschine haben wir etwas vermisst, das wƤre noch zusƤtzlich super gewesen). Wir waren dort mit zwei Familien mit 5 kleinen Kinder und waren wirklich begeistert von dem schƶnen Dorf und wieviel man in der Umgebung unternehmen kann: Berge zum Wandern, viele schƶne SchwimmbƤder, alle mƶglichen Kinderattraktionen vom Smarty Land mit Bungee Trampolin, Gold schĆ¼rfen und BleigieƟen in Ramingstein, Schatzsuche in der Donnerschlucht, mittelalterliches Spektakel in der Burg, Fahrt mit der historischen Dampflokomotiven - es wurde in 10 Tagen nie lang und hƤtte noch fĆ¼r einige Tage mehr gerreicht!

Wir wahren mit einer Gruppe von 10 Personen eine Woche Vorort. Das Haus ist sehr groƟzĆ¼gig geschnitten und sehr gut ausgestattet. Es war ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt und wir haben nichts zu beanstanden. Die HaushƤlterin ist sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Klare Empfehlung!

Stunning location, beautiful house

The house itself is spacious, comfortable, clean and very well equipped with a large enclosed garden. It is set just above the village of Mauterndorf with beautiful views across the valley. We had a fantastic stay and found many things to do within easy reach - mountains, cable cars, water parks, Salzburg, castles, waterfalls and gorges (purchasing the Salzburgerland card is a good idea!) Mauterndorf is a pretty village and has everything you need within a 5 minute walk - restaurants, swimming pool, tourist information and a supermarket. We would highly recommend this property and the area, an excellent family summer holiday - Thank you!

Beautiful, well equipped, well placed house.

The house was comfortable, clean and spacious. The property is perfect for large groups or 2 families. We were a party of 9 and had plenty of room. The house is situated a few minutes walk from the bus stop which takes you to the slopes fro skiing in just a few more minutes. The description was accurate and the house was clean and well maintained. Both the owners and the housekeeper were friendly and helpful, providing excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this property and this area as both were beautiful.

Beautiful house in a wonderful location

Spacious, well equipped, very clean house on the outskirts of a beautiful Austrian village. Striking views of the mountains. Well placed for skiing, in the village or short drive to Obertauren. Wonderful easy walks from the village for non skiiers such as the one past the castle and along the river to the ski centre. Good shops, restaurants, supermarket and church in the village. Next to "Silent Night" village. The house easily accommodated 9 adults plus small baby. We had a lovely Christmas holiday here and would strongly recommend it.

A PIECE OF HEAVEN

Chalet Lewin is a lovely House in the beautiful village of Maunterdorf. It warm cosy and very clean and maintained to a high standard. We had a lovely stay very relaxing, but there is plenty to do in this area for the more adventurous, it suitable for all age groups. everything was perfect from our taxi from the airport to meeting Frieda the lady who looks after the chalet. the restaurants were excellent and the people very friendly. Every thing was perfect pure of heaven.

Faultless holiday !

What a great holiday ! Our holiday home was absolutely fantastic ! Great facilities and lovely location. Well equipped , clean, spacious and within walking distance of the town center - what more could you want. We had a week on a motorcycling holiday - located in the middle of the alps with surrounded by fantastic roads ! We will be back ! Great holiday home ! An Amazing family holiday in beautiful Austria

Chalet Lewin was a beautiful , very spacious and clean with lovely views towards the mediaeval town of Maunterndorf and the snow capped mountains. Our party consisted of 7 adults and the chalet had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. A ten minute walk took us to the town where we were able to buy fresh bread etc. and dine out in the evenings. We visited out of season so not all restaurants and shops were open but the service and food was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the Italien restaurant. The tourist office was helpful and gave us interesting places to visit including the Dachstein mountain, Austrias highest dam, National Parks and Zell am See. Although the local cable car was not running we were able to enjoy long walks up the mountains exploring the Lungau Region. I would recommend this holiday to friends . Out of season a car is essential to see all that is on offer.... snow in the mountains and lovely Austrian villages.

Excellent Location and Facilities

A group of eight rented the chalet for a week long ski break. The location is excellent with five good ski resorts all within easy reach. The town is also a delight with a number of good places to eat and drink and the local ski hire shop. The accommodation is spacious, warm, comfortable and has all the mod cons you could need. It swallowed eight of us in comfort and was a home from home. The bedrooms are warm, bright and roomy with ample space for all the ski - gear you take to and from the slopes with a radiator on the stairwell to store and warm your boots. The beds are new and very comfortable. An excellent stay and highly recommended. We will return very soon.

Perfect Winter Retreat

A perfect base for exploring the picturesque village of Mauterndorf, the chalet was clean, warm & comfortable with enough space for 11 of us not to feel on top of each other (except maybe in the kitchen, but this inspired a cooking rota which worked well). We used a shuttle bus to/from the airport and were then able to do everything by bus or foot - good local supermarket/bakeries/butcher and plenty of characterful restaurants offering excellent hospitality. Half the party were skiers/boarders and had good experiences at the local ski centre (25min walk or 5min bus ride). A very relaxing holiday & perfect location for celebrating a big family birthday - would definitely recommend. If we'd stayed for more than a week, would probably have wanted access to a washing machine.

Por que o anfitriĆ£o escolheu essa propriedade

We started skiing about 20 years ago with our two young sons...and are still novices, though our two boys (now no longer young boys) will now tackle just about everything. They certainly like a challenge! Finding Mauterndorf in 2010 was like finding a gem...it has so may facets to enchant us. Ski slopes to suit all our abilities and a choice of resorts of which, we're sure we will not tire. The village itself is still very traditional, retaining its cultural background and charm. In summer we enjoy the mountain walks, the village outdoor swimming pool, experiencing the festivities that are always going on and exploring the beauty of the region.
