Me, my husband and our dog Jai spent 2 weeks holiday at Glasnock in October this year (2013), and it was quite simply our best self-catering experience ever.
The beautifully designed house provisioned everything that anyone could ever need, and exuded quality. It was immaculate and as we explored we were so happy to discover that the photographs were true to life ... all of the rooms were beautifully furnished with many thoughtful touches, not least the welcome hamper. The bathrooms were particularly luxurious, and I loved the large kitchen, a real heart of the home. We felt instantly at home and completely relaxed. For Jai, the well-fenced garden was also perfect.
The views from all of Glasnock's windows were captivating as the surrounding landscape is absolutely stunning and on those days that we stayed at home, watching the wildlife and the mountains change their colour throughout the day was fantastic, especially for an amateur photographer like me. Imagine been able to photograph a stag through the window! For anyone that needs to keep in touch with the office on a regular basis like my husband, the high speed broadband and a full 5 bar mobile phone signal were a real bonus too.
Whilst Glasnock benefits from being extremely private, it is only a short and very scenic drive to the nearby villages of Kishorn and Lochcarron where we stocked up on food provisions. We were also able to buy fresh lobster and langoustines, cooking themselves and enjoying them together with a bottle of champagne. We opted not to go out in the evening but after dinner sat on the comfy sofa and watched the big screen TV! Home from home!
I think perhaps I should have used the well equipped gym to burn a few calories but instead preferred to walk Jai in the immediate location and took much pleasure in just absorbing the tranquillity and sheer beauty of the area. In fact we also did a great deal of exploring by car, with I think, the highlight being the coastal route around the Applecross peninsula. Every bend or turn revealed a new spectacular vista. Applecross Inn is also a must.
For the first time ever, neither of us wanted to return home. Glasnock not only fulfilled our expectations, it exceeded them. We would recommend this holiday rental wholeheartedly and in fact we have already re-booked to return in spring 2014. We can't wait.
