This area is beautiful; its landscape is rural, rolling hills sloping softly down to the sandy beaches along the local coast line. There are few English speaking voices heard even in summer as visitors tend to be holiday makers from other regions of Italy coming for the sun, sea and R&R.
There is still a lovely connection to the land as there is a lot of farming in the area. You'll find a daily market in different local towns pretty much every day of the week! Selling fresh, locally grown produce, sold by the small holders themselves. Not to mention the vans tempting freshly roasted succulent porchetta, or fried sea food stalls, both a speciality of the area!
The great advantage of this location is the motorway and the trainline infrastructure that runs from Venice all the way down the eastern coast to Lecce in the south, making day trips and excursions very possible and easy.
In 45 minutes you can be in the central Gransasso area of the Apennines, or in an hour you will reach the Maiella region, a stunning reserve of nature's forests and waterfalls.
Access to this part of Abruzzo is super, our location is served by three airports, Pescara (Abruzzo) 35 minutes drive, Ancona (Le Marche) 80 mins and Rome (Lazio) 2.25 hours drive.
