For larger families staying at the Victorian Lodge there is also the opportunity to rent the Little Hideaway. This magical and charming getaway sits alongside Little Dower House, two minutes away up the drive. The Little Hideaway is a newly finished two story studio which sleeps two to four adults.

The most magical trip EVER!
I am not sure where to begin, but our stay at the Victorian Lodge in Windsor was absolutely amazing. Hamish was a wonderful host, and we could've stayed forever. There is something special about being in the English countryside, and our stay at the Lodge almost felt like we were inside of a storybook. If you want to be close to London/Windsor, but away from the crowds and the noise, you will not regret staying here. We had no issues getting food delivered, or getting rides to/from the lodge. Also, the beds were so comfortable. If/when we come back to England, we will definitely be staying here! Thank you Hamish & Susie, for everything!

Quintessentially English country cottage
This is a special place with an amazing view of Windsor Castle and excellent proximity to Windsor Great Park & the Long Walk. It’s everything you would imagine an English cottage to be! It’s inviting and comfortable - my family and I felt at home as soon as we walked through the cute French doors. All the rooms are wonderfully appointed. It’s a well-stocked cottage that comfortably slept my family of five. The gardens surrounding the property and the back patio are the perfect setting for relaxing, enjoying the view of Windsor Castle/countryside and daydreaming with a cup of tea and some biscuits.

Perfect
All the glowing reviews of this property are correct. It is just perfect. Hamish was so very personable and helpful. We originally planned a day in London but instead spent an additional day around Windsor. The house was everything we were hoping to find on our holiday. My elderly father stayed and watched TV and napped with the windows of the cottage open while we went out. We all enjoyed our time there.

WOW!!!!
My husband and I cannot say enough good things about our stay with Hamish and Susie! This was BY FAR the best VRBO we ever have stayed in. There was not one detail missed. It was very well maintained, clean, beautiful location, the grounds were gorgeous and the host were next level helpful. The communication was 10 stars! We have 4 very large boys all over 6’3 and they were very comfortable in the beds. There were so many extras that made our trip easy. A beautiful welcome basket filled with snacks and drinks, toiletries, blow dryer, washing machine. This place has it all. My husband and I CANNOT wait to come back and visit. Next time for longer! Thank you so much, Hamish and Susie! You helped make our first trip to the UK an unforgettable, beautiful experience.

Home away from home
This cottage hits all the marks. It’s a nice quiet place to relax and enjoy nature around you but only an Uber ride into town, which was so easy and always available. Hamish and Susie were stellar host and always available if and when needed. The cottage felt like home immediately and you can’t beat that view of Windsor Castle. Hamish met us upon arrival, showed us around and went above and beyond to get us settled. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to be while on holiday.

Magical Stay in Windsor
I hesitate to say too much about how amazing this property is because I want it to be available the next time we stay in Windsor! Hamish and Susan MacMillan were terrific hosts. The cottage is a real gem. It is charming, beautifully furnished and extremely clean. We were welcomed with fresh cut flowers and a well stocked and furnished kitchen. We were very grateful for the "Welcome Basket" complete with a bottle of wine, crackers, cheese, farm fresh eggs, chocolate, cookies, milk, etc. Everything you would need before you can make to the store. The location is perfect and the grounds have wonderful gardens and outstanding views of Windsor Castle across a flower filled Meadow. There are many good restaurants and pubs nearby, Hamish was very helpful with recommendations. I had better stop now or it will be fully booked when I want to come stay again which I hope will be very very soon!

Trip to Windsor/Bray
This was a trip for my husband's 50th and we travelled with my Mum and our sausage dog. It was a great celebration weekend. The cottage is very conveniently located less than 20 minutes from Bray where we had reservations at the Waterside Inn,15 minutes from Windsor and 5 minutes from Old Windsor where there was a Co-op a couple of restaurants and a farm shop that had good food and was a nice cafe for coffee and cake. The cottage was great, the beds were very comfy with lovely linen. The TV had Sky. The kitchen had everything you could need to self cater including loads of basics such as butter, oil, maple syrup, mustard that not all self catering cottages supply. The welcome pack was extremely generous cheese, crisps, wine, bread, jams, coffee, tea, biscuits and chocolates that we swore we wouldn't eat, but we opened the lot and thoroughly enjoyed them! Opposite the cottage was a field owned by Hamish and Susie that we could use to walk the dog which was a bonus. There was also a sizeable garden with the property. The garden isn't secure so we had to keep our dog on a lead as he has no recall - but that wasn't a problem. Hamish was lovely helpful in introducing us to the cottage and how everything worked and informative on the local area which carparks to use etc. We all thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay and would highly recommend the property.

Amazing Cottage, Reserve with Confidence
Reserve the Victorian Lodge cottage with confidence! Our hosts, Hamish and Susie, made us feel welcome and at home on arrival. The welcome basket was lovely! We had several busy days, so our family of 5 enjoyed relaxing in the living room and other areas of this spacious cottage. The kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and other areas of the cottage had all the items we needed and more for our two weeks stay! Each bedroom was comfortable and having two bathrooms was extremely convenient. Outside, the gardens were beautiful and perfect for enjoying the view of Windsor Castle and the sunsets in the evening. The recommendation by Hamish of the Fox and Hounds pub close by was wonderful with a charming atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food! We are thrilled with our choice to stay at the Victorian Lodge and we have many wonderful memories from our visit. Thank you again, Hamish and Susie, for your warm hospitality and amazing cottage! We hope to return some day!

In a word, Extraordinary!
This country cottage is perfect in every way. Our family of 5, including 3 young adult children 18-22, had plenty of space and enjoyed every minute being in the Old Windsor countryside. Hamish and Susie are incredible hosts, and offered great suggestions for local pubs and activities. We especially enjoyed nearby access to walking trails in Great Windsor Park including the Long Walk to the castle and town. Incredible sunsets from the kitchen window of the cottage each night, overlooking Winsdor Castle. We highly recommended this setting for a family vacation!!

Charming and relaxing stay
Our stay at Victorian Lodge was absolutely perfect! Hamish and Susie were gracious hosts who provided a lovely cottage, with fresh flowers; a welcome basket full of breakfast foods and treats (yay, shortbread!); the best tea ever (M&S Gold 😉); and a fireplace already made-up for a crackling fire whenever we wanted it. Hamish was so responsive and helpful in answering any questions we had and providing directions and recommendations. The setting of the cottage was lovely and private, and the view of Windsor Castle was an added bonus that never got old. I would highly recommend a stay at Victorian Lodge and look forward to returning there myself and introducing it to other members of my family.

Exactly as described
Hamish is an outstanding host. No request too difficult and no problem that can't be resolved. The welcoming basket was amazing - everything you need for a proper brunch, early supper, or just wine and cheese. If you just wanted to relax before going home this is a good place to be. Good walks and a Co-op on your door step. However, we agree with another reviewer that the sofas could be updated. With that say this is a very charming Victorian English cottage. Thank you Hamish!

The Victorian Lodge was absolutely lovely. I could not have imagined a more charming cottage.
Everything about our experience here was first rate. Hamish met me and showed me around the cottage and how everything worked. The cottage was immaculate and so completely cozy feeling. We couldn't even eat all the goodies in the welcome basket during our stay. The location was perfect. Very easy access to a train station, Windsor, and London. Also easy access to motorways to go further afield. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this location and hope to stay here again myself.

Completely magical stay
Our family travels often, and I’ve been all over the world for business. The only word I can use to describe this property is “magical”. We stayed with our four children, three teenagers and our youngest celebrated his 2nd birthday on our trip. We stayed 8 nights, and while we are usually ready to go home anytime a trip is over, we felt we WERE home and couldn’t believe we had to leave. Hamish was warm, charming, and accommodating. The house was very well appointed, especially compared to other HomeAway properties. But the property.... you just can’t put it into words, certainly not into 2500 characters. It. Is. Magical. Highly recommend for families, for romance, for history... whatever you’re looking for, you will find here!! We can’t wait to book again.

Quaint, quiet, friendly and relaxing in the countryside of Windsor.
A wonderful little cottage situated perfectly between old and new Windsor. Located off a convenient road between the old and new Windsor, this cottage enjoys serenely quiet evenings coupled with picturesque and lovely views of the castle during the day. The cottage is great for families looking for a fabulous getaway in the UK countryside without losing the ability to enjoy the fun of London. We started out with a day at Brooklands, touring the museum, and enjoying Mercedes Benz World too. Next we took a short drive to the Bracknell Forest and enjoyed the best hiking and biking trails we've ever had the pleasure to traverse! After that day of activity, we took a quick drive to Chessington World of adventure to enjoy the animals and the fun rides. This was conveniently located only 30 min away from the cottage. Then we spent the day touring the Windsor Castle, and had some of the best Thai food beside the castle - only 7 miles away from the cottage! A whole day in London was our next day. We used Egham station to get return tickets on the train into Waterloo station which was super easy and convenient for the family. Once into London, tickets on the Thames Clipper allowed us to cruise up and down the Thames, and the opportunity to see all the sights! Hamish and Susie were very helpful and friendly throughout the week that we stayed at the cottage, and they left a huge welcome package of snacks and wine and cheese and even essentials like milk in the fridge as well. The home is warm and welcoming and intimate. The kitchen has all the essential items to allow mealtime, and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from for a vacation of choices for the family. Any questions or concerns, Hamish and Susie were kind enough to supply their phone number so that you can text them, and they are always just around the corner should you have any need to talk directly to your hosts. Highly recommended from families and couples who wish to get the best of the English countryside and the option of seeing London as well.
