About Kate Faulkner
I am a sculptor and my husband is an actor. Nine years ago we purchased our house in France as a retreat and total antidote to London. Well.... that and the long balmy summers.! When we are here time stands still and problems fade away. . It has proved everything we hoped it would be.
Why Kate Faulkner chose Le Plan-de-la-Tour
We fell in love with Plan de la Tour when we first saw the village, nestled on the plain, between the mountains of the Var and the sea. The Route Touristique is not for the faint hearted but the views are stunning. Fortunately there is a far less challenging road to our village. Our house sits in its own space: 6.5 acres of gently sloping woodland and gardens within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is very private and peaceful whilst being only a few minutes from the village and ten minutes from the beaches and night life of Ste Maxime and a quick ferry ride to the glamour of St Tropez. A string of beach clubs at Les Issambres( next to Ste Maxime) are fantastic to spend the day at the beach, have a lazy lunch, swim in the warm Mediterranean Sea and lie on a lounger with a cocktail.

Quiet location down a 1km track little bumpy but fine. 20 minute walk into Plan de la Tour where several restaurants. Nice pool but very little shade. Owners very helpful but not intrusive. Comfortable clean studio with kitchenette and good shower attached to main villa.
Beautiful and Relaxing
We had a fabulous stay in this beautiful part of France. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and to a high standard throughout. The owners were welcoming and very helpful.
The pool was of a high standard, clean and just lovely for a swim and relaxation. The pool area is lovely, in beautiful surroundings.
The accommodation is in a peaceful location, ideal to relax and recuperate. We split our time between visiting places of interest and relaxing by the pool with lunch on the terrace.
There is plenty to see in the area of La Plan-de-la-Tour, including pretty hill-top villages (e.g. Grimaud and Gassin), and coastal hot-spots, including the beaches of Saint Tropez and Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer. Sainte Maxime is about a 15 minute drive, from where there is a short (15min) foot passenger ferry to Saint Tropez.
Cannes and Nice are easily accessible.
The village of La Plan-de-la-Tour is possibly less of a tourist spot, but still pretty with plenty of restaurants, amenities and events.
We had a perfect holiday and would certainly like to stay there again!

The coastal resort of Sainte Maxime is a 10 minute drive away. Cobbled streets, lined with shops, restaurants and cafes ascend from the harbour and its' wide promenades. A string of sandy beaches, dotted with beach clubs and easy for swimming, stretch from St. Tropez in one direction to Les Issambres in the other. The Ferry service : Bateaux Verts runs from Ste Maxime harbour every 15 minutes and transports visitors across the bay to and from the centre of St. Tropez. It continues until at least 1 a.m. leaving plenty of time to enjoy the nightlife the town is famed for. Ferries from Ste Maxime also run eastwards to Cannes and westwards to The Porquerolles islands; Ile du Levant and Port Cros.
Nice, Toulon (Hyeres) and Marseille airports are all within 1 hour to 1 hour 15 mins drive away. We can organise an airport pick up service if required although a car is essential to explore all the area has to offer.
Plan de la Tour is a 1 km. drive away and the dramatic hilltop town of Grimaud is 15 minutes by car from our property. Sainte Maxime and its' beaches are a 10 minute drive away. A 25 - 30 min drive across the Presqu'il of St Tropez will take you to the exquisite towns of Gassin and Ramatuelle or Pampelonne Beach famed for its' star studded clubs, such as 55. The route is lined with vineyards where you can stop for lunch or a wine tasting.
Plan de la Tour radiates outwards from its' central square where you can dine outside under the trees at a selection of restaurants. During summer there are many musical events in the square where local people and visitors mingle to enjoy the entertainment.
The town is surrounded by vineyards and is well served by 2 boulangeries,, 2 butchers, 2 general stores, pharmacy, post office, bank, florist, art gallery and garage.
Our local wine: Les Marquets produce a very good rose the 2018 vintage being one of the best and a fine red made from the old vines of the region.
Les Vignerons du Plan de la Tour is the home of Les Marquets and on our route into the village as is Caves des Maures which has regular wine tastings throughout summer.
The Office du Tourisme will provide you with information on all local events and is located in the Town Hall, adjacent to the square. You can walk to just about everywhere in Plan de la Tour from the 2 large car parks, which are free, and situated at either end of the town.
Large supermarkets, such as the newly refurbished and enlarged Carrefour and a new Lidl are 5 minutes drive from the village, on the road to Sainte Maxime. Carrefour has a 24 hour petrol station
