A perfect retreat
Delightful cottage quiet peaceful and surrounded by beautiful garden yet close to amenities and coast path and other walks. Like Cornwall without the crowds, a cliche but true, coastline is stunning. We were lucky with weather so didn’t have time to work through the many books on offer. A week without TV is bliss although we did cheat and watch men’s tennis final on laptop. Highlight was an early drive to get to Skomer to see puffins.
Place of Enchantment
This was a dream cottage and garden and was the highlight of our 2.5 weeks in the UK. The hosts, Christina and David, were warm and hospitable, the cottage was comfortable and charming, and the garden was a place of enchantment. If we return to the UK, this is where we would come. It was absolutely lovely and close to so many wonderful places to walk.
We did not have a car, but found the bus system to work well for our needs and it was on time.
If you need a place to get a way to for beauty, rejuvenation and quiet, then this is the ideal place to book.
Return to west Wales
Brilliant little cottage in a wonderful garden. Thank you Christina and David for allowing us to share your amazing world.
Everything we wished for.
A wonderful last minute break, the cottage was warm & cosy, we loved the novelty of the suspended staircase on a pulley rope with weights, the garden is beautiful & the stars at night are incredible, an emotional sight after living in the city for many years.
The coastal paths nearby are stunning, with lots of coves, & a few are easily accessible, we were blown away by the sheer ruggedness & breathtaking beauty, whatever the weather. We feel our visit to this pretty cottage & Pembrokeshire has hit the reset button for us & not forgetting Christine & David, very kind & welcoming. Thank you, Lucy & Simon
Delighted that you discovered the beauty of North Pembrokehsire, and enjoyed the warmth and comfort of the cottage.
Christina and David.
A unique opportunity to stay in beautiful gardens.
This is a cosy and comfortable cottage where it would be a pleasure to stay in almost any setting, but it has the added attraction of being in the heart of Dyffryn Fernant Gardens. It was a privilege to feel that the gardens were our home for a few days, and we could wander and explore at our leisure. Preseli Hills and the Pembrokeshire coast on the doorstep too - really very little more anyone could wish for.
A delightful cottage set in the grounds of a wonderful garden, with complete peace and quiet.
The cottage was clean, very comfortable and well equipped. The narrow pull down stairs took a little getting used to (especially on the ‘down’ ) but were like home at the end of the week. Sitting at breakfast and eating in the evening, looking out through the doorway across the valley to the hills beyond was a recurring pleasure.
The cottage is a perfect retreat from which to explore the wonderful North Pembrokeshire coastline and the Preseli Mountains with their ancient stone circles and burial chambers of the first Neolithic farmers in Britain and the outcrops of rocks which provided the Bluestones of Stonehenge.
Being able to explore the garden at all times of the day was a privilege. Dusk walks were a favourite, with Swallows giving way to Bats over the bog garden and pond in the evening.
If lucky, at night, the sky will vividly show the constellations and Milky Way.
The only disappointment was the clammy shower curtain rather than a glass shower cubicle.

You certainly seem to have discovered so many of the gems that we have on offer here.
1 mile away is Aber bach a sheltered little pebbled cove, with a stream running through and seals at the right time of year. Pwllgwaloed is 2 miles away, this wonderful sandy beach has a lot to offer with a multitude of rock pools as well as 'The Old Sailors' restaurant/pub which makes the most of the fantastic views across to fishguard bay. The famous Pembrokeshire coast path which follows the second best coastline in the world, can be accessed via both these beaches.
There is a regular bus running from just 10mins up the road which takes you to the main towns in the area, providing access to the train service and ferry to Ireland, in Fishguard. There are also bus services which run all the way around the Pembrokeshire coast line providing access for those who want to explore it.
Just a 10 minute walk away is Dinas Cross with a couple of small convenience stores. You can catch the bus from here to the nearest towns of Fishguard and Newport which are just a 5 and 10 minute drive away and have all the amenities. For a bigger shop theres Cardigan or Haverfordwest which are 30 mins away.
Y Bwthyn is ideal for those seeking tranquility and closeness to nature. Birdwatchers will be in heaven, ramblers will be spoil for choice with all the coastal walks on offer, and this couldn’t be a better spot for anyone who enjoys exploring the countryside and being by the sea. Fishguard, the nearest town, has its own history. It was once the site of the last invasion of Britain in 1797, and it has also served as a film set for Moby Dick and Under Milk Wood. Music is popular, with the Fishguard Festival in July, St. David's Cathedral Festival in May/June and the Folk Festival over the late May bank holiday. The picturesque surroundings mean that painters, artists and craft workers often settle here and galleries are thick on the ground. You could take a boat trip to the islands and watch dolphins, porpoise, puffins and gannets. Or you can play golf, go coasteering, ride, surf or sail. This is a place that is all about the simple pleasures.
