Very nice stay
We had a lovely week at the barn. Real spacious location! Loved the coffeemachine!
Thank you Olivier.......... The coffee machine does prove very popular!
A relaxing and peaceful stay in an excellently appointed barn
We had a brilliant week in Raverlat. The barn has everything required for your holiday. We made use of the well stocked kitchen and bbq during our stay and spent hours sat by the pool or on the decking. The barn has plenty of space for a large group but we didn’t feel lost with just the two of us staying there. We would highly recommend this property and we left planning our next visit.
Excellent house.Well equipped and spacious. Pool fantastic.Very clean and comfortable .
We really enjoyed our holiday in this beautiful house and in a lovely area of France.
Hi Jackson5.......... So pleased you all had a great time and hope your Birthday celebrations were as good as you hoped x
Absolutely beautiful place to stay
A fabulous property. We had 8 people staying and there was plenty of room. The house is beautiful and very comfortable and well equipped. The pool area and grounds kept adults and children entertained.
A short drive away are Great Lakes for paddle boarding and we had a brilliant day out doing the high ropes at the adventure park.
Lovely barn in a lovely location
The Barn at Raverlat immediately exceeded our expectations on arrival - so much bigger than the pictures would have us believe, a great kitchen with everything you would need including herbs and spices, spacious patio out the back and the pool which was in use within the first minute of our arrival. The bedrooms were all lovely with really comfortable beds. Fly screens on the main bedrooms helped with nighttime invaders, but unfortunately were not present on the front bedrooms where the children were. They did get quite warm at night, but the fans helped, if a little noisy (there is no air conditioning). The temperature topped 38 degrees while we were there so maybe it was unusually hot. The night sky is fantastic as there is very little light pollution (we were lucky enough to be there when there was a meteorite shower).
The location is great for exploring by car or bicycle (the local swimming lake being a firm favourite with the kids). Lots of fields of Limousin cows, sunflowers and sweetcorn, and unbelievably quiet roads. The people (both French and English) in the area are really really nice, and helped immensely with some of the finer details of the holiday, including the evening BBQ at St Matheiu where you get to buy your meat and get it cooked to perfection to eat at long trestle tables along with all the locals.
The guest book proved invaluable for info on local restaurants and places to visit, and Max and Sue have a drawer full of flyers and information on attractions in the area. To be honest we ran out of time to do everything we intended to - guess we will have to go back again - one of the best holidays I've had in a good while!
Thank you very much for the lovely review and so pleased that you all had a great time at the Barn
Max & Sue
Raverlat is located in Rural France but it's excellent positioning gives it the benefit of several leisure lakes within the Haute Vienne and the Charente. Lacs de Saint Mathieu is only a 10 minute drive away (available for Fishing, mini golf, pedalo, wind surfing, horse riding and kayaking) and the Lacs de Charante is a 20 minute drive away both have man made beaches with safe swimming and excellent water activities.
Limoges Airport with it's great links via Ryanair from the UK is only 39km away. They fly from Manchester T3, East Midlands, Stansted, Leeds/Bradford, Bristol & Southampton.
Angouleme Airport is 47km and Poitiers Airport is 98km.
We would recommend the hire of a car for your stay if you are flying to France. www.economycarrentals.com usually give the best prices.
Les Salles Lavauguyon is the nearest village with a traditional bakery (boulangerie), hairdressers (coiffure) and it's Romanesque church that contains some of the finest frescoes in France. The nearest town is Saint Mathieu at 8km/10 minute drive. The fantastic château at Rochechouart is 15km away taking 20 minutes to drive there.
Saint Mathieu (10 minutes away by car) has a great array of shops including a supermarket, bank, boulangeries, tabac, book store, beauty salon for massages facials & more, a bar and in the summer months night markets selling artisan products and fresh local produce which are fantastic!
Changeovers : PLEASE NOTE, during June, July and August, Changeover day is SATURDAY. At other times of the year we will try to be as flexible as possible - just ask!

About Max Cottam
Max & Sue Cottam fell in love with the area and bought the barn in 2012 spending some time updating the house before deciding to open it up for holidaymakers to enjoy.
Max Cottam purchased this Barn in 2012
Why Max Cottam chose Les Salles-Lavauguyon
The Barn is a lovely old airy building with a huge garden that will let you enjoy the peaceful hamlet and is a fantastic base to explore the area.
