Review of Autumn stay in Le Grand Bois

We very much enjoyed our stay at Grand Bois. The combination of sunny weather and great views over the valley have made lovely memories that will stay with us for years to come. The timing of our visit was during the harvest. Ripe grapes on the vines look a wonderful rich colour. The accommodation is attractive and a nice layout. The gardens, woods and land are all there to be shared. The pool area is a serene oasis. There are towns to visit nearby. St Emilion was an unexpected pleasure - very picturesque. Other nearby towns will have to wait for our next trip. We received a lovely welcome each time we returned home by the family dogs. Our collie was with us. He joined dog club for a week and enjoyed their company. Our host was charming and helpful. Thank you!

Idilic views, quiet and peaceful getaway

Beautiful location, completely tucked away in your own little world! Just a short drive from Bordeaux, St Emilion and a whole host of other beautiful places to explore. Phillipe and Marie were warm; receptive and dedicated hosts. The dogs were an added bonus to get a welcome back to the property. Would definitely recommend

enchanting place between the woods

We had a wonderful time with our family in the apartment from Marie-George and Philippe. Impressive the arrival through the magical wood, which gives fresh air and a multitude of greens, coming to the broad space with the small, old and tastefully renovated "castle" with the wide gardens. The accommodation, the side part of the house with own entrance and own terrace was likewise tastefully equipped. As a family of 5 the size was optimal. The youngsters loved the pool, which is an own small paradise. We were very friendly welcomed by the hosts and the communication was excellent. The relaxing and quiet space is ideal for excursions to the area and also optimal for some resting days in-between. Overall we were all very happy about our days at Marie-George and Philippes house and we look forward to come back in one of the next summers.

Wonderful house in beautiful park

We enjoyed a wonderful week at le grand bois. The house was beautiful and fully equipped in a park like setting. Our host, Philippe, did a great job to make us feel welcome and at home. The large pool was beautiful, as well as the surroundings. It was very peaceful, but close to villages and shops and the city of Bordeaux. The three dogs at the property were welcoming us every time we returned home. It was all that we could wish for!

Wij hadden een leuk verblijf. Het domein en het zwembad is prachtig. We zijn erg fijn verwelkomd! Een hekje om het tuintje van het vakantiehuisje af te sluiten, kan handig zijn (aangezien wij een kleuter en 2 hondjes mee hadden ;).

Un havre de paix enchanteur

Notre séjour dans cette location au calme était tout simplement magnifique ! Nichée au cœur de la nature, nous avons été enchantés par le cadre paisible et serein qui nous entourait. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été chaleureusement accueillis par des propriétaires d'une bienveillance remarquable. Le domaine était tout simplement splendide, offrant un parc gigantesque propice à de belles balades revigorantes. La cerise sur le gâteau était sans aucun doute la superbe piscine, spacieuse et d'une propreté impeccable, qui nous a permis de profiter pleinement de moments de détente et de rafraîchissement. Nous avons adoré chaque instant passé dans ce lieu enchanteur. La propreté irréprochable de l'ensemble du domaine ajoutait une touche de confort supplémentaire à notre séjour. Si vous cherchez une retraite paisible et accueillante, cette location est l'endroit idéal pour une escapade inoubliable. Nous reviendrons certainement et nous recommandons vivement cette adresse à tous les amoureux de la nature et du calme.

Bezaubernd schönes Anwesen

Bei der Ankunft bemerkt man sofort die besondere Lage des Schlosses und des Parks. Die Vermieter, Marie Georg und Philipp sind sehr gastfreundlich und sehr besorgt um das Wohl ihrer Gäste. Gerne ist Marie George bereit Buchungen für ihre Gäste vorzunehmen auch organisiert sie für ihre Gäste bei Bedarf Führungen in Sachen Wein. Im Haus und im Park sowie am Pool findet man Ruhe. Freundliche Hunde, welche zum Anwesen gehören sorgen für eine heimische Atmosphäre. Wer mehr über das Schloss von Marie George und Philipp wissen möchte, stößt bei beiden auf offene Ohren. Das Anwesen sowie die Restaurierung des Hauses ist bemerkenswert. Wer hier war, kommt in der Regel gerne wieder!

Familienurlaub in mitten von Weinbergen

Wir waren mit zwei Erwachsenen, zwei Kindern (6 und 8 Jahre alt) und unserem Hund für eine Woche zu Gast. Die Kinder haben das Haus, das Grundstück und natürlich den Pool geliebt. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht und das Anwesen ist ein Traum und sehr liebevoll gestaltet. In der Umgebung kann man mit Kindern (und Hund) viel abwechslungsreiches unternehmen oder einfach am Pool chillen. Wir können das Ferienhaus uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Excellent séjour !

Nous devons notre excellent séjour à la beauté du site mais également à la prévenance de Marie-Georges et Philippe qui ont toujours été de bon conseil et d'une grande disponibilité ! Nous avons également été touchés d'avoir été aussi bien accueillis avec notre grosse chienne ;) Nous n'hésiterons pas à revenir profiter de la vue magnifique et de la piscine très agréable. Le seul piège finalement est de ne pas vouloir repartir !!

Landelijk gelegen gite direct naast chateau

Heerlijke rustige plek om te genieten van uitzicht over een dal, er is een zoutwater zwembad en heel aardige hosts. Gezellig ingericht en alle voorzieningen aanwezig behalve oven en airconditioning. Wel rekening houden met aanwezige honden, voor ons extra leuk omdat we onze eigen hond ook mee mochten nemen. Fijne plek om te zijn en in de omgeving veel leuks om te doen!

Wir suchten die Ruhe und fanden sie hier! Das kleine Landhaus neben dem Château, gelegen mitten in einem Paradies war für 2 Wochen für uns zwei und unseren Jagdhund wie ein zweites Zuhause. Wir hatten außerdem die Ehre den tollen neuen Pool einzuweihen. Das schönste in unserem Urlaub war aber das wir Marie-George und Philippe mit ihren Hund Norway kennen gelernt haben. Die beiden sind einfach entzückende Gastgeber. Durch sie haben wir die Region mit neuen Augen kennen gelernt. Un vrai paradis

Merci à Marie-George et Philippe pour notre sejour inoubliable. Il y en avait tout: la beauté du paysage et du parc, le style et le charme du gite et du chateau, la location parfaite pour explorer les trésors de la region, mais surtout l‘hospitalité genereuse avec laquelle nous etions reçus. Un gîte à découvrir absolument !

Excellent séjour, avec un accueil très chaleureux des propriétaires. C’est l’endroit rêvé pour un séjour des plus reposants, un lieu magique pour petits et grands. Les alentours regorgent d’idées de sorties et le parc offre un cadre sans pareil pour une connexion à la nature et une sérénité assurée. Merci à Marie-George et Philippe de partager leur petit bout de paradis.

Semaine délicieuse

Excellente semaine dans ce merveilleux lieu. Philippe et Marie-George sont des hôtes très accueillants et vraiment très gentils. Tout est fait pour que nous nous sentions « comme à la maison ». Une escapade bien agréable. La piscine est un vrai régal!

Le paradis dans les vignes

Proche de Bordeaux,St Emilion,Pomerol,cette location nous a permis de découvrir cette région et de nous ressourcer dans cette magnifique demeure pleine de charme.Logement très propre et très bien équipé.Marie-Georges et Philippe sont très accueillants,disponibles et attentionnés.Avons passé deux semaines magnifiques malgré le conteste sanitaire grâce aux bons conseils de Philippe.Merci pour votre gentillesse et nous souhaitons une bonne retraite à Marie-Georges. Philippe is born and bred in Bordeaux.He is a consultant dermatologist,enjoys looking after the Chateau, the local history and sports.
Marie-George is born in Lyon, works in Paris in the property and insurance business. She runs marathons,loves entertaining friends, a passionate cook, and would be pleased to share her best recipes which you(and of course her joie de vivre too!).
We have five beautiful daughters who live around the world in California, Malaysia, Paris and Bordeaux; We travel the world to meet other cultures and to discover new and isolated places.
We love the diversity and a change. We would love the opportunity to share with our guest our love of the region and to offer them an authentic experience of south of France in a haven of tranquillity.

The origins of the château dates back to the 14th century when the Aquitaine region was ruled by kings of England. In the 18th century the king of France authorized the construction of the noble house of vieux Fourens. In the past 25years the chateau has been lovingly and authentically restored by its present owner Philippe. There are two further outbuilding and a chapel on the ground of the chateaux. The chapel dates back to the 16th century.It has crypt and a fountain and if interested the owners will be pleased to tell you the history behind it.

Located in the vineyards of Bordeaux you take the long and charming drive through the woods of its own to reach the chateaux in its well kept grounds. The world famous St Emilion and the classy Bordeaux are both UNESCO protected and celebrated for their architecture and their wine. They are waiting to be explored!
You will have the choice of discovering the countryside and the local wildlife either on foot or by bike on designated cycle paths along the river Dordogne or through the vineyards. It is for certain that you will be encountering local wildlife such as deer, pheasants, squirrels around the protected and natural reserve of the chateaux before returning and dipping your toes and relaxing by the delightful 12 X 6m pool.
