West Cottage was built around 1870 as a typical croft house with a byre beside it but gradually deteriorated during the 1990s until it was in danger of becoming derelict. In 2007 the old cottage was stripped back to the stone shell; it was re-roofed and completely refurbished to a very high standard and a large living-room was built on the end of the old house on the site of the former byre. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation over 2 floors. The living room, kitchen/dining and double bedroom with en-suite shower are on the ground floor with a further double bedroom, twin room and bathroom upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The living room has well-stocked book shelves, a wood burning stove and a colour TV.
