About Mary Kraft
Settlers Mountain was created to share the wonderful Great Smoky Mountains with friends and family. What started as a personal retreat turned into a family enterprise. Bert and Mildred Kraft loved the mountains and its local people so they settled in Bryson City and built Settlers Mountain (circa 1959). Bert, being a very industrious person with the love of architecture, built the homes on the mountain and refurbished a hand-hewn chestnut log cabin built in the 1840's, one of only five left in the area. Settlers Mountain is owned and operated by the Kraft Family and is enjoyed by five generations of Kraft’s. We welcome you to make Settlers Mountain your retreat and create a lifetime of memories. This property has 200 acres and yet near to town on paved roads. Very well maintained grounds that is wooded and quiet, close to all the action the area has to offer or just sit back and relax.

Very enjoyable experience!
We loved the cabin.
Unique place to stay
We had a lovely time and really enjoyed the historical ambiance of the cabin as well as the peace and beauty of the surrounding area.
We had a wonderful stay , very peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was very clean and cozy . Love the property and the front porch with hummingbirds . Check in and check out was very easy . We will come back and bring extended family for the other cabins .
This property was all we wanted. It was a great cabin for just the two of us on my birthday. It’s close to everything and we went on the great smoky mountain railroad train ride and had a fantastic time. The cabin is remote but not far from anything you want to do. I loved that it was so old and original that we just imagined ourselves living back in that time. The check in process was flawless. The communication with the caretakers was spot on. And they were great to talk to and had some good suggestions on places to go and restaurants to eat at. I highly recommend this cabin and it will be on our go to list.
So glad you had a great time on settlers mountain. We would love to have you return. Thanks for the great review!
Absolutely the best cabin and experience we have had when staying in the Smoky Mountains. We decided on fairly short notice to go away for our anniversary. I am so happy we chose this place. Could not ask for better property owners. She was so nice. The cabin was perfect. The property was perfect. Convenient to so many attractions. We will back and this will be the first place we try to get in to when we come.
We enjoyed you being here. Thanks for the great review.
