Best staycation ever!
Each year, our large family picks a location to travel for summer vacation . This year, we decided to keep our money local and vacation close to our house. We are so glad we did.
The house is incredible. Our family ranges from six months to 78 years old and all 14 of us had tons of room to relax and enjoy each other‘s company. Each of the rooms are extremely roomy in the beds are very comfortable. Beautiful views from the porch and Windows. The sunsets are breathtaking. We ended up hiring two charter captains from Angling Adventures of Louisiana and caught tons of fish. We also caught Crabs and RedFish right off the dock. Our family spent most of the time downstairs underneath the house playing ping-pong and corn hole games while we grilled and boiled seafood. We also took a quick drive to a local blueberry farm and sunflower farm. The zoo is only 35 minutes away. The grocery store in every convenience of a large city is only a few minutes away. If you’re looking for a large home that is perfect for extended families, look no further than the Lakehouse. Larry is extremely hospitable and answers any questions very promptly. LOVE this place! We will be back for sure.
Girls trip/ Bridal shower
We had a great time the property was was even better in person ...the property owner was great with communication..we went crabbing for the first time and we all caught dozens of crabs.. The view was the best ...My family loved it & we will return👍🏾
Perfect Gem for Our NYE Wedding
My husband and I selected this property for our intimate New Years Eve wedding and it exceeded our expectations in every way! Larry was an extremely responsive host, the house itself was impeccably clean and perfect for our 24 family and friends. We were also able to capitalize on the breathtaking view of the water at sunset and the house’s proximity to New Orleans couldn’t have served us been better for New Years festivities. I will also say that the profile pictures don’t fully do the house justice, especially because they lead you to believe that there are beds out in the open upstairs when in fact there are 4 fully enclosed bedrooms, which makes for a total of 7 throughout the entire house. This house would make a phenomenal venue for any gathering and it’s scenery alone will completely blow you away. We are so fortunate to have hosted our wedding at your home, Larry. Anyone else looking to stay here will surely have an unforgettable stay!
We had a group of four families with a total of 17 adults/young adults. Everyone had a comfortable bed (solo or a couple) and there were enough showers and sinks to keep everyone happy. The upstairs lounging area is quite nice and comfortable. The house is bright and airy with a wonderful view of the lake. Overall, it is clean and well kept but there are some specific areas of improvement that are addressed below. Access to the freeway and into the city is simple and an easy 40 minutes in off peak hours. Groceries and other daily needs are close by and easy to reach.
Larry was quite responsive to checking in and was apologetic for the 90 minute delay in getting into the house while the cleaners finished up. While this was disappointing and no compensation was offered, we were able to stretch our checkout a bit without penalty🙄We had no specific needs during the rest of the stay that required his assistance.
There were some downsides that caught our attention: 1) there isn’t enough comfortable seating in the main living room for the number of people the house accommodates. We pulled sitting chairs from other rooms but they were neither cozy nor comfortable. 2) the kitchen was not adequately equipped. There’s plenty of stuff but not necessarily enough of what you need (properly sized pots, cutting boards, sufficient coffee mugs, storage containers .... generally there was too much crap that had just accumulated from other guests and the kitchen just lacked any coherence. 3) there was no soap in the showers so be prepared 4) the grill looked unfit and we chose to fry our fish in the kitchen.
Overall, we give it 4 stars. This is the fifth house our group has shared during the holidays in a variety of locations and while it met our needs it is probably 5th out of five in professional decor and comfort. It was also the most economical of the five, so there’s that. Still a fine house and location, just that it could use a few upgrades to truly make it the best it could be.
This was such an unfair review. I had guest checking out the same day they arrived. So 90 minutes? So picky. I gave them a late checkout and they were on the property way ahead of time. There is plenty of comfortable seating. I have 2 dens, a large kitchen, dining room and 2 additional table and 12 chairs on the porch. The kitchen has a lot of cookware and I purchased a new 12 piece set a few months age. Plus there are 2-3 chopping boards and sharp knives. If she needed anything else, I did not get the call. The grill may be old but it works great and is a natural gas grill so no need to buy propane.
About Larry Landry
I have lived here all of my life. I love New Orleans and the surrounding areas.
Larry Landry purchased this House in 2016
Why Larry Landry chose Eden Isle
This a newly built home. I just finished it in February 2016. It's a short ride to enjoy everything in New Orleans or along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The home is a great place for a large family or friends getaway. It's hard to find a place that has 12 beds to accommodate 24 people in your group.
What makes this House unique
