About this property

The YURT at Screwball Ranch

The YURT at Screwball Ranch sits high in western Colorado at the south base of Grand Mesa, the largest flat-top mountain in the world - with over 300 lakes and miles and miles of hiking, biking, hiding, Jeep, ATV, and snowmobile trails.

This is no ordinary YURT! The YURT at Screwball Ranch is Off-the-Grid but large (over 900 square feet – including the loft) and contains a complete 3/4 bath, fully equipped kitchen (propane range and oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, cooking utensils, etc. - no dishwasher, but Hey - it's a Yurt), open living area, wood stove, propane heater, solar electricity (generator backup), large deck, enclosed entryway, and adequate storage space. The YURT comfortably sleeps four – two twin beds in the loft and two full-sized futons in the living area. You’ll be secluded on your private 80 timber-covered acres. You’ll have private access to thousands of adjoining BLM acres. There are miles and miles of private hiking, biking, ATV, and horseback trails that start right at your doorstep.

Your pets will beg to come back to our 2 acres of fenced wooded area around the YURT where they can roam free and inspect neat smells, a lizard or two, or just lie in the shade and relax.

Why they chose this property

The owners use this property as the family's big game hunting headquarters the late weeks of October every year. Hunters travel in from literally from border to border, coast to coast each year to savor about 10 days off-the-grid and into western Colorado Rocky Mountain splendor.

The rest of the year (from April to late October we make our unique property available to others that want solitude, quiet, a teeny bit of roughing it, a limited amount of networking, and just plain relaxation.

What makes this property unique

We love pets - all sizes, types, and shapes. We have corrals, and about two acres of property surrounding the YURT, fire-pit, parking, etc fenced such that you can turn your pets loose while you make shopping or day trips about the area. We do appreciate advanced notice if you're planning on bringing your pet elephant or hippo. We'll have to make special plans for additional water.
