*SHOCKING / AWFUL - DO NOT STAY HERE * We had a huge number of problems with this guest house. The owner, who never actually introduced herself , is incredibly rude, pushy and does not show any grace at all to her clients but simply is after every last Kuna she can get from them. Firstly, we received no contact from the owner prior to our arrival and no word about how to get to the place from the ferry. When we arrived at the road via a taxi we found it very difficult to find the house as it is under a different name to the one on the website. The house is very misleadingly advertised as it is a 30 minute walk to Rukavac village and even further to the beach. We arrived to a completely empty place with no one around to show us in even though it was night time and we had to let ourselves into the room. We walked around for 2 hours to find a shop and to buy some food and when we returned we tried to cook on the BBQ which is shown on the images of the property given that there were very basic cooking facilities in the apartment (one stove.) After having eaten we heard a knock at the door and the owner appeared. She spoke next to no English which was not a problem except for the fact that she did not say hello or welcome us but simply demanded money. She initially asked for 600HK for one nights stay and only when I checked my voucher did she agree that we pay less. After she noticed that we had used the (seemingly communal and advertised) BBQ, she became incredibly angry and aggressive in tone, telling me that it was 'privato' and setting the boundaries of where we were to go and not go around the building. She tried to charge me 50HK for the charcoal and when I said no she threatened to call the police. The apartment itself was very dirty and dark and the walls were covered in moths. There were next to no cooking facilities and the water initially came out of the taps a brown colour. The second day we tried to spend as little time as possible in the apartment and when we returned in the evening the owner began shouting angrily saying we had arrived too late after 6 O'clock which seemed to be her curfew for guests staying around the building. The morning of our departure we cleaned and vacated the room promptly at 10am. We left it spotless and had folded all the sheets and towels and had cleaned and put away all the dishes etc. The owner was waiting outside for us and immediately went to check the apartment. We asked her to call us a taxi to Vis to catch the ferry but she said there were no taxis and we had to pay her 100HK to drive us or we would have to walk 2.5 hours. When we returned from the beach to go to Vis she was waiting and began a huge angry tirade shouting at us that we had not cleaned the place enough and that everything was dirty and to give her more money. She had provided us no cleaning materials and we had left the room EXACTLY as we had found it. She tried to argue that we had agreed a price of 300HK to drive us to Vis which was a lie. To be frank this was the worst experience I have ever had which a guest house or hotel. The owner should be ashamed of herself for the way she treated us as her customers. Her presence in the house was overbearing, aggressive and simply rude. On account of our experience I would urge anyone not to stay at this place there are plenty of other places available closer to the beautiful village of Rukavac. This was without a doubt the worst place we stayed in our visit to Croatia.
