About Tona Goering
I am the 6th generation of pioneers who settled in the Unaweep Canyon and Gateway areas of Mesa County. My husband was born and raised in a Mennonite farming community in Kansas. We met and married young and began our great adventure. We've lived and moved every few years, following construction, forest service, and reclamation work-while raising four children. We settled here 10 years ago and started a family-owned and operated excavation business, employing each of our four grown children at one time or another. We have loved traveling overseas and locally, helping with humanitarian missions when business allowed. We built this house as a "spec" home when I got the urge to work on my design and decorating skills. My husband got the dubious pleasure of performing the grunt work involved in creating this sanctuary. When the economy took a downturn we couldn't sell, so we got to enjoy utilizing this property as a hub for hospitality, celebrating family events and reunions. When we discovered the advantages and fun of private vacation rentals the past few years with our families, it seemed to be the natural progression to add our little "resort" to the list of great places to stay. We love it!
Tona Goering purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Tona Goering chose Fruita
We have lived in extremely cold high mountain areas and in the heat of the desert. Fruita's mostly temperate climate enticed us as a good place to retire, eventually. And most important, our grand children are here. We have only spent 18 months of our 41 year marriage living in town, so this 3 acre property at the edge of town and with the extensive "rural" views it offered was the perfect compromise.
What makes this Villa unique
The property feels completely secluded, but offers the benefit of living near wonderful neighbors. The ever-changing views of the Monument never cease to amaze me. The wide open skies to the southeast are limitless and give the feeling of complete privacy in some of the most scenic country in the world. Deer, foxes, coyotes, and even a mountain lion have made their presence known, but never threatened our safety. Every sunrise, every sunset, every cloudy or clear sky is remarkable. The house is wonderful, but the outdoor area constantly draws me out to see and experience its' diversity.

Beautiful house. Very comfortable for our 4 family reunion. Tona is a great host.
Thank you Tona for lovely four-day vacation. Your home is very cozy and stocked with everything we needed. This is a great location for biking, hiking, wine tasting galore, relaxing, and enjoying the beauty of Colorado. Definitely will return!
Ann and Kyle, and a bunch of friends.

Great house amazing views
This worked out perfect for our yearly trip to the Palisades for some wine. This was very close, easy to get to, easy access to a grocery store, and an amazing backyard with plenty of space, a pool, and a great view of Monument National Park! Owners we quick to help with anything and very nice I would recommend this place to anyone!
Thank you for your visit and your kind review.
Relaxing and Wonderful!!!!!
Our stay was wonderful and Tona provided many extra amenities, which made it so special! We hope to make this an annual vacation. It was wonderful.
It was a pleasure to host your group...such a special group of ladies! We look forward to return visits.
House was so well stocked with beautiful views of the national monument. We especially enjoyed family time by the pool! Every detail was well thought out! Thanks for an unforgettable week!
We thank you for your review and are happy that you enjoyed your stay. Go GJ Rockies!
Perfect Outdoor Space for Families
We had a fabulous time this past week at the villa. You will not find more gracious hosts than Tona and Serena. While the pool slide is no longer there due to insurance, you can still dive in the pool - our kids didn't miss it and spent hours in the pool. We rent homes regularly and have never found a home so well stocked with sheets, towels, spices, zip lock bags, and tons of dishes!! Owners live on site, but you never see them unless you want to see them. They're incredibly warm, friendly, and respond to texts quickly. The outdoor space is fabulous for families with a few different areas to sit, space for kids to run, and beautiful sunsets. We had 4 families stay at the villa and there was tons to do in the area (trampoline park, go kart racing, splash park, speedway track). The Colorado monument is a gorgeous drive and Arches State Park is a good day trip. We've already recommended this home to others. We made many amazing memories in this home and are confident we may never stay at a home again with such fabulous hosts. They spoiled us!!
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We were concerned that the smoke rolling into the valley from western fires would have a negative impact.
Thank you for referrals!
We can't express how much we enjoyed our stay. The hosts' thoughtfulness and attention to detail made every aspect of our stay a pleasure. Everyone from our three year old to my mom loved the house, the amenities, and the setting. We highly recommend this house for families and friends without any qualifications. It and our hosts made this trip for hockey camp a restorative vacation instead.
Thank you for your kind review. So happy you enjoyed your stay. Please visit again.
