Quotes from our great renter's: 'Thank you for providing us with this beautiful sanctuary in the woods. This was the best vacation rental we've stayed in and we hope to be back soon.'

'We owe you, thanks for 'tuning us in' to such an amazing part of the Bay Area!'

'Your house is truly a sanctuary, we fell in love with it as soon as we walked in the door.'

''We found the house amazing, each window in the house gives you a different view and perspective of the surrounding nature.'

'Thank you for letting us into your slice of paradise. Everything was wonderful from the decor and location to the smallest of details. Did I mention my wife wanted to move in?'

'You really have a gift for making people feel at home. We are already talking of coming here again.'

Our 1500 sq ft. house is loft-style, built on a large rock with views of the Marin Mountains. Take pleasure in relaxing nights as you hear the crickets chirp and the rushing of the creek during the rainy months. Our house is a beautiful, tranquil place to unwind and enjoy everything that nature has to offer. On any given day, deer can be seen as close as 10 ft. from the outside deck.

Our house is nestled in the quaint town of Fairfax, CA which was just voted in 2011 as the ' Best Town in Marin' by the Pacific Sun.It is a quiet haven untouched by strip malls and corporate chains, yet it is close enough to the hustle and bustle of cities like San Francisco and Berkeley. A short distance a way are Mill Valley, Sausalito, Mt. Tamalpais, Point Reyes, Stinson Beach & Napa.

We provide bathrobes, blow dryers, 5 different types of pillows ranging from soft to extra firm, board games, as well as an entertainment deck with umbrella covered dining table and love seat patio set. We also have a small library area where you can curl up and read a good book.

Take advantage of picnicking in Deer Park, hiking/driving to the many lakes located near the house, strolling through the town of Fairfax, antique shopping in San Anselmo and exploring the other great cities, beaches & activities nearby. A few nights in Fairfax and you just may decide to stay!

Minimum one week stay over Christmas holiday.

Comfortable and well-equipped home in quiet area near great restaurants, coast, hikes

  • 4 of 5

Our hosts thoughtfully prepared the house for us, left clear guidance/instructions, and were always very prompt at responding when we made our reservation. The house is clean, comfortable and well-equipped. We enjoyed the hummingbirds at the feeder and views. We went kayaking on Tomales Bay, roughly a half hour drive northwest, and trip to Tiburon and Angel Island, again about a half hour away to the southeast. Thank you, Misty!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. Glad you guys enjoyed your trip. The weather was great at the time of your stay. I love exploring this part of California in the Fall. Crisp, clear skies in the area and minimal fog. All the best.

Quiet and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Two story house with everything you would need. Mom and I appreciated the quiet surroundings, eating breakfast on the deck and seeing 6 Bambis next door.

Great Memories Made and Past Memories Shared

  • 4 of 5

My two girlfriends and I have been vacationing up and down the West Coast for the past 12 years. I chose this area for the hiking, the beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge and all that comes with Marin County. We loved this house and the surrounding area. Mt. TamaIpais had spectacular views from the fire watch tower. The home was clean, updated, comfortable (well except for the pull out couch in the loft) and enjoyed the comforts of home. We felt like we were in the mountains with the convenience of a big city, San Francisco, close by. We were able to sleep in, walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, have lunch in Saulsalito and be home to enjoy the serenity of your deck and view of your side yard where we had morning and afternoon visits from 3 - 7 deer, while enjoying breakfast or cocktails on the deck and watch the sunset behind the ridge in the back. A couple of days were unusually warm, so we put all the fans to use and with the cooler evenings, sleeping with the windows open was wonderful. We enjoyed meeting people at the farmers market, picked up dinner and took it back to the house and it was still warm. There was a street fair on Sunday and we were able to meet many of the shop owners and you can tell they love their community. We met a couple of hikers that gave us some great information on other hiking trails. We sought out an outdoor concert in a nearby park and had a great time. Great memories were made and we had lots of laughs. Thank You

Foldaway sofa bed mattress is really bad in 3rd room, otherwise very nice place to stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Gary- thank you for your review. Could you describe a bit more on what you mean by 'bad' for the sofabed in the 3rd bedroom. It is a new mattress and fairly new couch. Do you mean it was uncomfortable? Thanks again and I'm glad you enjoyed your trip.

Great place in a very cool town

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay in Fairfax! We loved the house and the outside space. Deer Park trails just around the corner and a nice walk into town from the house. Thanks for making our stay a great one!

Owner's Response: Thank you. I'm glad you were able to take advantage of walking to the hiking trails and downtown. Next time you stay there are many lakes amongst those trails (not sure if you happened upon any). I enjoy bringing my book and a picnic for some really good R&R.

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

The house exceeded our expectations. Our family of 5 had a comfortable 5-night stay in early August and enjoyed every minute of it. The house sits in a quiet neighborhood about 2 minutes from downtown Fairfax. The house had everything we needed, was extremely clean, and had comfortable beds. We loved the outdoor sitting areas - great place to sit and drink a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

In terms of location, we found it to be ideally situated for vacationers wanting to visit multiple spots in the Bay/Wine Country areas. From this perfect home base, we could hop in the car and go South to downtown SFO or Sausalito, or North to Napa or Bodega Bay in less than 45 minutes. The town of Fairfax is lovely in its own right. The downtown area has great little shops and restaurants and several nearby grocery stores.

We hope to return sooner rather than later!
