Overview

About the property

Spectacular long range views in upscale home w/soaring ceilings & windows galore

Book Friday and Saturday night and get Thursday or Sunday night free with some holiday exceptions....but you must ask for the free night when you submit your request for a quote or a reservation request! Weeknight rates are usually discounted $100 per night as compared to weekends and if you book four or five weeknights one will be free if you ask for the free night. We consider one night bookings in our slower months of January and February, if there is one night sandwiched between two bookings or if it is within a week or two of the date requested, but a $100 premium may be added (we will likely reduce the cleaning fee to $100 if you have a small group less than 4 or possibly if you only stay one night and have less than 8 so please ask). Bookings less than a week will not exceed our weekly rate rent of $1,200 plus tax (in most cases except for some holidays), the cleaning fee and the VRBO service fee. The $59 non-refundable insurance premium is required for groups over four, but we may require the $99 insurance premium for large groups and also for families with children and pets. We recently added a fenced in yard for those of you with furry children. It allows your dogs to roam freely in back when you are out on the patio or on the deck. We do charge a $50 pet fee per weekend or $100 pet fee per week which helps pay for the fence. If you are bringing pets that must be disclosed before your arrival.

This luxury home on magical Mount Yonah offers a very special experience! Our new home is located in a gated community and has been available for guests as of May 2016. It has a white-washed cottage style table for 10 guests, a queen sofa bed, a reclining sofa and two day beds (with trundle beds below) for relaxing after dinner as well as a king size bed in each of the three bedrooms.

If you have multiple families for a wedding or a family reunion there is another house very similar to ours built by the same builder a few doors down. In addition there are two other homes with 15 bedrooms between the four homes. Contact us for details on how to book some or all the homes.

This enchanting home will capture your heart from the time you walk up the flagstone walkway to the grand entrance to the time you leave with cherished memories of your fairytale getaway. The front of the house is surrounded by mountain laurel and blooming flowers with a flagstone walkway that meanders around the house to an inviting patio where you can enjoy the view and the chirping birds along with our fire pit and our new seven person Hot Spot Rhythm hot tub.

The first thing you will notice when you walk in the door is the scent of the cedar siding and the beautiful cherry wood floors. As you walk into the house you will feel the grandeur of the soaring cathedral ceiling in the great room along with the wall of windows and warm stone fireplace. Then your eyes will be drawn to the million dollar mystical view in back which looks like a postcard. Windows and high ceilings abound in this charming home with so many extras you will never want to leave. We even have nine foot ceilings upstairs.

The clean and bright gourmet kitchen with white granite counter tops make it a pleasure to spend time in the kitchen. The white washed cottage style dinner table has room for 10 family members and friends for those of you who want to share your rare find on Mount Yonah. There is also a table with room for six on the deck with patio furniture and two rocking chairs if you prefer to dine outside. The warm fire in the stone fireplace adds just the right ambiance in the colder months and in the warmer months we have candles you can light to add to the ambiance.

Then relax on the reclining sofa or go out to one of the rocking chairs on the deck to do a little star gazing. It's a great place to enjoy the mountain air and the open sky. The deck is the place to go to enjoy the twinkling lights in the valley below as well as the moon and stars above as the clouds roll past. We also have a fire pit on the patio with six Adirondack chairs where you can go toast marshmallows or sip some wine by the fire or you can take a relaxing dip in the hot tub overlooking the valley. If you like ping pong we have a midsize ping pong table you can set up as well as cards, puzzles and other games.

When it's time to retire for the night you are in for a treat as each bedroom is impeccably furnished with a very comfortable king size bed, whimsical bear lamps and your own private bathroom. The master bedroom is on the main floor with a vaulted ceiling and sliding glass doors that share that same amazing view as the great room. It has a comfortable king size panel bed and a luxurious spa-like bathroom with a jetted tub with two large windows that looks out at the seven layer long range mountain view. You will feel you are staying at the Mount Yonah Ritz or in a castle in the Alps!

The two spacious bedrooms upstairs have a king size sleigh bed and a king size panel bed and their own luxurious bathrooms as well. There is a half bathroom in the foyer for anyone who may be sleeping in the grandeur of the great room. We have a queen size memory foam sofa bed as well as a day bed with a Sealy Posturepedic mattress and a trundle bed with two six foot tall and seven foot long room divider screens to provide some privacy. There is also a day bed with the same comfortable mattress and a trundle bed below it in the foyer. We even have three roll-away cots that can be set up in a parent's bedroom, upstairs in the hallway or out on the deck for the more adventurous members in your group who may want to try sleeping under the stars!

In the morning there is nothing like having your coffee on the deck in a rocking chair or at the patio table while watching the sunrise come over the mountains. Even storms are amazing at the top of Mount Yonah.

If you like wildlife keep an eye out for the local deer and other critters. We have an abundance of song birds and there are even bears in the area if you are lucky enough to see one.

We have WIFI in the house and Direct TV in the great room and all the bedrooms and three of the flat screen televisions are smart TV's.

If you are not familiar with Cleveland we are the home of "Babyland General" where cabbage patch dolls were created. It is about 20 miles to Dahlonega and about five miles to Helen. Both towns are known for their vineyards and weddings. We expect to get a lot of wedding guests and wine tour guests just like we get at our river house in Dahlonega under VRBO listing 76931. Dahlonega is the site of the first US Goldrush so it has an interesting history which you can learn about at the gold rush museum in the town square and it is the southern most part of the Appalachian Trail. It is also the home of "the Holly Theater" which puts on very professional live plays and musicals.

Helen is just five miles away. It is an alpine village known for Octoberfest, river tubing and it's scenic beauty. There are a lot of festivals and vineyards in the area as well as several state parks including Uniqoi in Helen, Vogel State Park near Dahlonega and Amicolola Falls in Dawsonville.

If you want to learn to kayak we have a family member who lives in Dahlonega who is an avid kayaker. She can provide you with some sit on top kayaks and give you some lessons to kayak on one of the very calm rivers in the area...even school age children can learn to use these sit on top kayaks. Please contact owner for details.

We also have several eating establishments at the base of Mount Yonah just one mile away including Western Sizzlin, Yonah Pizza & Subs and Yonah Burger. The Nachoochee Grill is an upscale dining experience that is also just a few miles away in Helen.

If you want to take some day trips you can ride the Blue Ridge Railway in Blue Ridge or just walk around the town as there are many interesting shops. Brasstown Bald is the tallest mountain in Georgia and is about a 30 minute drive from our home on magical Mount Yonah.

This is a great place to have celebrations which are included in the weekend price for up to 15 guests. If you want to have larger parties or events there could be a $250 to $500 event fee depending on the number of guests (talk with owner for details). Parking is limited to about five cars so you would have to shuttle your guests up to the house (Appalachian Transportation may be an option). Guests can park at Western Sizzlin which is about a mile from the house.

We have put the final touches on this charming and magical place so come experience "The Mount Yonah Castle"!

About Beth Morgan White

I was born and raised in Atlanta and have lived in Cumming since 2004. I have always loved the north Georgia mountains as my parents took us to Dahlonega and Helen many times as children. My husband was born and raised in New Hampshire, but has lived down here for over 15 years. We have been married four years in October and actually got married at a chapel cabin in Cleveland which is in White County and our last name is White (LOL) so this amazing home seemed like a divine opportunity. We bought this beautiful home on Mount Yonah in April 2016 and we just knew it would be a huge success on VRBO based on our experience with our family's river house in Dahlonega which is listing 76931 on VRBO. We are excited to share this magical place with our guests so they can experience the same feeling.

Beth Morgan White purchased this house in 2016

Why Beth Morgan White chose Cleveland

My husband and I stayed on Mount Yonah two years ago in the little cabin next door and we saw this spectacular home then. When we saw it was on the market this year the timing was right for us so we didn't waste any time in buying it. It is a very special property and not like most mountain homes as it is very upscale and luxurious. The builders paid attention to detail when they built it and we recognized how special it was. We know our guests will love it too and expect it to be booked up right away with lots of repeat guests for years to come!

What makes this house unique

This home has a glorious cathedral ceiling in the great room with a wall of windows to enjoy the spectacular long range seven layer mountain views. It has that "Thomas Kinkade" feel to it that makes you feel you are in a fairy tale while there. The abundance of mountain laurel that surrounds the front is so inviting as well as the patio. The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling with a luxurious spa-like bathroom. We were also impressed with the two bedrooms upstairs as they are also spacious and both have their own private luxurious bathrooms as well. The gourmet kitchen will speak for itself with those white granite countertops. The owners are not into cooking at all, but we are looking forward to using that kitchen regardless (wink)!

Absolutely gorgeous mountain home

  • 5 of 5

This place is truly a mountain castle! Our family stayed here for our son’s wedding weekend. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is perfect for a large number of people, and the great room is a wonderful place to hang out with everybody. But the best part was watching four different, yet equally beautiful sunrises. My husband and I were up every morning sitting in the recliners in the great room enjoying coffee and the sunrise show. We certainly did choose the perfect place for the perfect wedding weekend. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity.

Owner's Response: Thanks Nancy for taking time to write such a detailed review and what you liked about our Mount Yonah Castle. I hope it added to all your family's wedding memories. We will be looking to come stay at "The Tumlin House" in Cave Spring at some point per our conversation. Please come back again if you return to the Cleveland area.

Majestic Views

  • 5 of 5

The views from The Mount Yonah Castle take your breath away. Watching the sunrise in the morning and the mountains light up with a thunderstorm at night were just amazing. The home is in a great location with easy access to town. We traveled to many different waterfalls, Tallulah Gorge, Helen, Brasstown Bald, Dahlonega, and more over the week we were there. We always looked forward to arriving back at the house to relax after our hikes. The beds were extremely comfortable too. My family has rented several homes throughout the past couple of years, and we all agree that this is by far our favorite. We have already been home for four days and are still talking about how much we miss being there. Do not hesitate in booking this rental. You will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Thank you Danielle for taking time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review as it really gives future guests an idea of what to expect. We are going up tomorrow for five nights and we cannot wait to go as the house is booked up most of the year. We feel very blessed to own "The Mount Yonah Castle" and it is a double blessing to know how much joy it brings to other families. I hope you all will come back again since we have been given the honored status as "your favorite" (LOL)!

Great location! It's close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

The house and property are beautiful. The view is spectacular and we loved how each of us had our own private bathrooms in our rooms so we didn't have to share. We enjoyed the grill, fire pit and hot tub. I would definitely book this property again!

Great house with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at Mt. Yonah Castle. There were 3 couples and 3 small dogs, and we had plenty of room to spread out. The master bedroom on the main level was perfect for my in laws, and the two bedrooms upstairs each had a nice-sized bathroom ensuite. The beds were very comfortable! We were all pleasantly surprised with how spacious and comfortable everything was. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast each morning. Helen is very close. The way up is a long, curvy, steep mountain road, but we were in a truck, & 2 SUVs, so we had no issues. I just wouldn’t try bringing a sports car. The views are spectacular. We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking time to write such a detailed review Shelley. I am so glad you all enjoyed the house and you found it to be comfortable with everything you needed. As for the road I would like to clarify for future guests that it is only 3/4 of a mile up to our home, but it may have seemed longer as the speed limit is only 15 mph. It is a dirt and gravel road, but I do not consider it that steep in most parts although you are definitely climbing Mt. Yonah so it is uphill until you get to our road. There are no frightening drop offs and my husband drives his Ford Mustang convertible up every time. You don't need a four wheel drive to get to our home, but I would definitely not recommend our road to guests with motorcycles or anyone hauling a trailer. Small sports cars could be a problem depending on the model, but we have had guests with sports cars come up too. I hope you all will come back again!

Cleveland, GA is located in between Dahlonega and Helen. It is where "cabbage patch dolls" were created aka "Babyland General". Dahlonega is the site of the first US Goldrush and has an interesting history. Helen was created to look like an alpine village and is famous for Octoberfest and the tubing. JANUARY 2018 SPECIAL IS $100 PER NIGHT DURING THE WEEK! The weekend rental rate of $200 for January 19th and 20th is for up to 8 guests with Thursday or Sunday night free when you book Friday and Saturday night. Additional guests are $25 per person per night. Book four or five weeknights at our lower weeknight rate and one of those is free! Week long bookings you pay for six nights with 1 weeknight free plus tax and the fees. Owner will consider 1 night stays when we have one night open between 2 bookings, for weeknights during the school year and in our slower months of January and February or within two weeks of the date requested, but there may be a $100 premium added to the nightly rate for one night stays depending on the circumstances. We will allow most dogs for a $50 non-refundable pet fee, but they must be house trained, non-destructive, on flea/tick prevention medication such as "Frontline" and their toenails need to be cut so they don't scratch our beautiful floors (cats are not allowed). We prefer they be crated when nobody is home and should not be left unattended in the house. Guests must disclose if they plan to bring pets before their arrival. A $100 "refundable" security deposit is added to quotes by the VRBO system, but it will be returned a week after your departure assuming there is no damage to the house or property; the $59 insurance premium is non-refundable, but covers up to $1,500 in damages to give us and our guests peace of mind should there be any accidents during your stay which does happen on rare occasions. We may require the $99 insurance premium if you have a larger group of six or more adults or with pets and/or children. In cases where there are just two adults to four adults with no pets or children we may waive the insurance if you are willing to pay a $300 refundable security deposit. We will lower the cleaning fee to $100 for two adults assuming only the main floor is used or $125 if only 2 bedrooms are used.
