Tom Brabeck purchased this condo in 2006
We were a family of 6 adults visiting Playa Conchal during the wet season and lived very comfortably in this beautiful, clean 3 bedroom condo. The cozy furniture was very accommodating for us including VERY comfortable beds. The spacious kitchen was well stocked with the necessary cooking utensils including a breakfast bar. The spacious balcony provided us with views of the gorgeous golf course, ocean bay and hilly landscape. The condo with free wifi, sits high on a hill a few miles from the beach but easily attainable by calling the office for a shuttle. Every driver was so friendly sharing interesting facts of the local culture, plant and animal life, being very accommodating to stop the shuttle for snapshots of the howler monkeys, iguanas, views of the bay, or beautiful trees/flowers which painted the path to the beach. Your drop off point was in front of the beach club which boarders the fairly secluded beautiful beach. The beach club provided you with locker/shower rooms, a spa and workout facility, 2 pools and the outdoor eloquent yet causal restaurant, our go to place when making it a day at the beach (gourmet meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, very reasonably priced) and an upstairs bar overlooking the treetops and ocean bay. The weather was ideal the wk we stayed as it was usually sunny and in the mid 80s during the day (storms at late afternoons) being ideal for basking in the sun on nice lounge chairs, taking walks on the sandy beach, swimming in the translucent turquoise water, kayaking, and paddle boarding all of which are provided through the beach club. While on the beach one has access to massages given for $20.00 an hr under the shade of the trees. A must have if you enjoy massages!! This lovely condo unit also has access to a secluded small pool, patio area and barbecue for a more quiet setting . I highly recommend hiring a driver. We had Dee (Ditier)recommended by our condo's owner, Tom. Dee, a very polite English speaking man who has obvious pride in his country and people, was so accommodating to our needs, desires with great suggestions. I pay tribute to Tom, a fantastic man who helped in planning out our trip. Tom was so easily accessible via email and by phone. He was informative and gave us a preview of what we may expect via pictures sent to us. What to bring: wash machine detergent, deet, day pack for daily outings, causual clothes with hiking footwear, USA currency excepted everywhere. Tap water very safe to drink!
We just got home from a great trip! I would go back tomorrow! The condo was great, with a beautiful view. The beach club had everything we needed...towel service, food and drink service at the beach and pool, SUP, kayaks, bikes. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Tom, the owner was always available for questions. We went on three excursions with Dee, the tour guide, and loved them all. The Palo Verde River tour, zip lining, horseback riding and hot springs, and a morning boat tour and snorkeling. My only wish is a longer stay! For meals we loved Tiki's in Playa Brassalito, sushi night on the roof top, and the meal after Palo Verda was amazing! We are a family of four, with two teenage daughters and we all loved it! Thanks Tom!
We visited Costa Rica in June and had the pleasure to stay at this beautiful spacious condo at Reserva Conchal. The views from the condo over the golf course and ocean are simply breathtaking. The condo offers everything one can wish for, from the modern full kitchen, to the washer/dryer,to the 2 full bathrooms, and the free WiFi, just to name a few. The condo is decorated beautifully and is very clean.
Our kids are young adults, and they just loved it! There are so many things to do at the Playa Conchal Beach Club; from kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding, to workouts in the state-of-the-art Beach Club Gym; or one can simply relax at the Beach Club pool, or the white sand beach.
There are many beautiful beaches in the area, but Playa Conchal must be one of Costa Rica's most beautiful.
We also went to Monteverde for the best zip lining ever, did whitewater rafting and deep sea fishing. Ask the owner for Dee's information; he was the best tour guide one could have.
Our favorite restaurants were the Beach Club at Playa Conchal (the staff there was really nice), Papaya (has wonderful Poke and a filet mignon that melts in your mouth) and Sodalito Italiano (best Italian food outside of Italy) in Brasalito. We also enjoyed Soda Brasalito, which has a delicious lobster and wonderful red snapper; everything was very fresh.
We highly recommend this property and would come back in a heart beat.
The owner is delightful and very easy to work with; thank you so much for everything, Tom!
The condo at Reserva Conchal is beautiful with a great view from the porch. A short ride free shuttle service until 10pm!) takes you to the beach club which is fabulous.
We spent a wonderful 12 days here, as a family of four with two small ages (2.5 and 4.5). The condo is very spacious, and the master bedroom was a luxury for my husband and me. Very clean & modern. All the amenities that make life easier with small kids were here: washer/dryer, full kitchen, 2 full baths (with bathtub), WiFi, lots of space. The kids loved it, and there was a lot to do: the smaller infinity pool of the condo area; the larger pool (with kid areas) in the beach club; the largest pool in the hotel area; the Playa Conchal beach. All of this was very kid friendly. We also rented a car and visited several nearby beaches: Playa Avellanas, Playa Ocotol, Playa Negra. We did the Palo Verde River tour, and the kids got to feed monkeys that came right onto our boat, plus see crocodiles, followed by an amazing typical Costa Rican meal prepared at a family's home. We also went to Arenal Volcano and stayed one night at Tabacon Hot Springs and visited the Denaus Ecological Sanctuary, where we saw a beautiful butterfly garden, different types of frogs, and other wildlife. It's very safe to travel here, and the country has made a major effort to ensure that the population speaks English. We were so impressed with the high levels of English fluency everywhere we went. The restaurants all catered well to kids, too (including the Beach Club). Our kids are finicky eaters, but we were pleased to find chicken fingers and french fries nearly everywhere we went. And some restaurants even had small indoor kid play areas where the kids were very entertained! The condo was a perfect "home base" for us as we pursued our adventures. The people at the resort (and really, everywhere we went) are friendly and warm. The roads have greatly improved since we were last here 5 years ago, and we had no trouble driving around (although still recommend renting a 4x4). We have now been here three times: once for our honeymoon, once as a married couple when I was pregnant with our first, and now once with 2 small kids. Each time we've immensely enjoyed it, and I believe it has something for everyone. Even teenagers would enjoy the beaches, eco-activities, and fun restaurants and towns. Also, staying at the condo allows the luxury of NOT having to deal with people who are on vacation just to do an all-inclusive booze/food binge. (Actually, I didn't see those types at the hotel resort area either!) In sum, highly recommend for all ages, including for families w/ small kids!!
The Costa Rican experience is Pure Vida! Upon arriving at the Liberia airport you feel the warm breeze and see the green all around you and your shoulders relax. You immediately unwind. We rented a car at Economy off site the airport. We would suggest you hire a driver to take you to Playa Conchal and rent your car from Ecomony at the Reserva Conchal office.
The roads are dark and semi dangerous due to people walking and riding bikes on the roads.
Upon arriving to our location the grounds and golf course are immaculate. The condo is well kept and very clean. The ocean views and sunsets amazing. The Westin Hotel is on the same property so the Reserva Conchal guests may use their Beach club and facilities.
We enjoyed those facilities daily about a 5 min drive from the condo, little to far to walk back and forth. In our party of six we had age groups of teens, 20's and 50's. The condo sleeps six very comfortably , the markets are close by to stock up frig. We cooked daily. We had breakfast and serveral dinners in the condo, plenty of kitchen tools avail.
We found eating out nightly could be very costly for a large party. The river tour was fantastic , plenty of monkeys and crocodilias to see. Our favorite adventure was the mega tour from Hacienda. We drove ourselves to the Hacienda Inn about and 1 1/2 hour away each way from condo. You can stay the night or just play for the day. We made it a day trip left at 6:00am returned around 8:00pm. Cost per person during this season was $85.00 per person included horseback riding, water rafting , lunch, fantastic zip lining with the grand finale of the hot springs and mud baths finished with a cool rinse . We were total noodles after and enjoyed American Pizza from Papa Johns on our way back to a Playa Conchal.
If your looking for a Sunday Christian service , stop in for a visit at Community Beach Church up the street from the condo. Very small congregation led by retired Americans with a splash of locals. Sit under the grass roof and be inspired with the word and worship.
We gave the church our unused food the day before we left.
Wonderful surfing , shopping and eating , Tamarindo. Favorite restaurant The Coconut owned by a lovely Norwegian lady. Fairly priced , known for their seafood.
Be careful of street and beach vendors trying to sell you their wares. Best not to make eye contact and keep walking. All in all this vacation was a 9, and 10 if we had someone else cook and clean daily! Wonderful time !
