Our gîte is set within the flower filled courtyard of a Maison de Maitre in Albas, an old and beautiful village set high up on the banks of the Lot. The gîte was originally a barn so there are beams in the bedrooms and plenty of exposed stone walls to give the interior a warm and relaxed atmosphere. In addition to the courtyard there is a large, secluded, south facing garden with splendid views over the rooftops towards the river.
The entrance to the gîte is through the courtyard into a large kitchen/living area with tiled floors and plenty of exposed stone. The two large glass doors that form the entrance can be opened fully so that the courtyard becomes an extension of the living area. There is also a wood burner, perfect for when the weather turns cold. To the rear of this large room there are stairs leading up to a sitting room with two sofas, two chairs and a tv. Off the sitting room are the three bedrooms with exposed beams and stone walls, a separate toilet and a bathroom with separate shower.
• A large kitchen/living space with wood burner
• An upstairs sitting room.
• Two large double bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other twin-bedded) and one small double bedroom (with double bed)
• A bathroom with a full size bath and a shower.
• A toilet.
• Wifi & Freeview TV.
The gîte will comfortably sleep 6 people. Meals "al fresco" can be enjoyed in the courtyard or in the garden (using the chairs, tables and umbrellas stored in the garage) most of the time from June to September and often in May as well. There is also a barbecue. At other times of the year, the wood burner makes the gîte a warm and cosy place to retreat to. Amenities in the kitchen include a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The kitchen is equipped with all you are likely to need to cook the delicious produce you have bought in the local markets. Please note that access to the main house is also via the courtyard but the two properties are some distance apart and the area close to the gîte is screened off and for the exclusive use of guests. Guests also have private use of the large garden, which can be accessed via a number of steps from the courtyard.
Bedding (to include pillows, duvets, sheets, duvet covers, pillow slips etc. ) and towels for use in the house are provided.
The owner's parents live in the main house through the year and are very happy to help if required. The accommodation is not suitable for children under 10.
