The main room has an 18' vaulted ceiling with loft above, a fully accessorized kitchen, 2 fireplaces, and a large deck with bbq grill overlooking Pine Creek and the beautiful mountains, directly out of your door. Fabulous Family Time
Our family traveled to the Lodge on Pine Creek for a relaxing Labor Day weekend. We had a wonderful time. The house is spacious and equipped with everything you could need down to books and games. The kitchen has a JENNAIR grill and everything needed to cook wonderful meals. The property is private and picturesque. It is close to the Grand Canyon and Wellsboro. We had a great weekend and are planning to come back next fall. We have used VRBO for years and have never had such attentive owners. Thank you Bob & Mary!
Very nice people. Left the place in great condition. Welcome back any time.
The rental is very spacious. We loved the amount of room in the house. It is also very private and peaceful. We love the Wellsboro area, just so beautiful. The PA Grand Canyon never disappoints. We did get the chance to just unwind and relax! Deer and turkey came to visit during our stay.
Nice location, well stocked and very roomy.
We enjoyed the location and proximity to outdoor activities like kayaking and nearby bike path. Property has lots of open area and many opportunities to see wildlife. House is extremely roomy and everything that we forgot to bring was already there! Nice to be able to do laundry before going home.
Nature at its best
House itself is spacious enough to accommodate large groups. The setting is lovely and isolated from others. Kitchen is very well equipped. Our group of 6 came to Wellsboro on large touring bikes. We weren’t able to navigate rugged, steep road down to the house. Owner did his best to accommodate us via an alternate entrance. This is an exceptional location for motorcycling.
I was unaware of the limited ability of these giant 1,000 lb touring motorcycles and did my best to help these guests out. Had they explained when booking with us that these were not regular sized motorcycles and helped me to understand that they are not suitable when off of pavement, we could have figured out something prior to their late night arrival in the dark. Our driveway is a gravel driveway, 1/4 mile long. I have taken motorcycles down it many times, but never saw anything like these folks used.
Beautiful setting, great accommodations!
We loved our stay in the lodge. It was very peaceful, clean, and spacious. Just what we were looking for. Would definitely book again.
Would not go back
I have stayed at many VRBO homes. Always had a good experience. Not this place. Starts a week before arrival when the owner sends a email telling you you need to bring your own paper products and soaps. No TP, no paper towels no hand soaps. Further he says there is no trash pickup you have to haul your trash out with you, nice. When we get there we are greeted by his "country road". Road is a deceptive description of this rutted, washed out path. You can get a sedan down this road but anything over 5 mph will have you scraping bottom. We walk into the house and we are welcomed to the sight of FLY STRIPS dangling over the table, sink, sofa and counter. In a barn fly strips match the decor, in a house, gross. Walking through the house we find broken furniture stacked in the back of the family room, a cracked picture window held together with clear duct tape, no door knob on the back door, spindles on the upstairs deck missing (which is a big deal when your little grandkids could fall through), water stains throughout the house, many burnt out light bulbs and spare molding tucked behind doors. The next day it rains and we see where the water stains come from. THE ROOF LEAKS.
I was embarrassed when my family got there. I would never had rented this place if I knew its true condition. I don't know how the owner, who lives several hours away from the house, got the good reviews he did. I rented based on those reviews and based on the house description on the site. I feel I got conned. I would not go back if free.
Prior to this feedback from Charles L, the only feedback that he gave me was, "Hi Bob. Just got back home. All good. Was wondering when the security deposit will be returned back to my card? Chuck". I answered his question with the fact that within 14 days VRBO automatically refunds the security deposit unless I post a claim for damages. Much to my regret, I did not post a claim for the damages.
It is now my opinion that Charles L. posted this terrible review in an attempt to deflect the damage he and his group did to our place. The door-knob on the storm-door was there prior to his visit. The chairs were not broken prior to his visit. The leather recliner-chair had a foot rest that was broken off after his group left. The ceiling fan over the bed in one of the 1st floor bedrooms had the pull-chain that operates the ceiling fan, torn completely out of the fan itself. I think the children ran wild and great damage was caused by them. They did not respect the place but did a very good job covering up their damage. I am disappointed and surprised by the damage caused by him and his group. It is a reflection on him that he has chosen to give us a bad review rather than stand up and be responsible for the damages he was responsible for. We have many solid reviews from people who enjoyed the Pine Creek Lodge. Those speak for themselves.
Relative to his claims, I will try to explain them: 1) Prior guests left doors open and the place had many flys inside. Our cleaning staff put out fly strips in an attempt to not use fly spray. We should have left a note to explain. The balcony on the second floor was built with a solid railing, but no spindles as it would block the beautiful view. It is not a place for children to be without an adult present. Nobody every complained about this before Charles L did. The roof has a continuous vent along the peak, a "ridge-vent". It will leak in a hard driving rain. We will try to fix this but it seldom happens, and when it does its just small amount in the peak of the vaulted ceiling in the kitchen area. The driveway is a 1/4 mile long country driveway. Paving it would not be realistic and is not something that is usually expected in a rural setting. We ask guests to take their trash with them or take to the local bakery who accepts it for $3 per bag. Due to our remote setting, there is no trash removal service. Nobody has complained before Charles L did, his comments are a fabrication.
