Great for family reunion
Family reunion of 37 and everyone had a great time; many expressed interest in coming again. :)
Entertainment/Play areas: The pool/foosball/ping pong tables were a hit. There was a large sectional in the basement and plenty of space for everyone to play and sleep.
Outside: The neighborhood wasn't busy, making it ideal for riding ATVs around. The fire pit was great and there were some lawn chairs on the back porch for those who didn't have camp chairs to bring. The property is on the corner of a main road and I was concerned it would be noisy, but we didn't notice any extra noise which was a big plus. Views were amazing and nicely situated to a lot of things to do in the area.
Communication: I feel like I may have been a bit of a high-maintenance guest, but the property manager was great to respond to and resolve every question/problem (broken toilet) we experienced within 30 min or less. The only thing I would change is being able to text instead of email and having a print out of the check-out process and FAQs (like unlocking the spa room and which stairs to put the laundry at the bottom of) centrally posted on both sides.
Floor Layout: This is two separate units with an adjoining door in the basement. While the basement is a seamless joining of each, the main and loft floors are completely separate from the other side. In order to get to the other side, one must either go outside to the other front door, or go downstairs to the basement and then back up. Also, the description did say that two of the bedrooms were only accessible through an adjoining bedroom, however, it didn't say that the wall between said bedrooms wasn't a full wall. There was 1-2' of open space above each of the door frames and the light switch to one room was in the adjoining bedroom.
Serving/Eating: The kitchens are designed for a group of 8-10, so eating/serving in one area was a difficult challenge to our group. There were additional chairs in the basement and we eventually found 3 extra folding tables that were outside, but which required multiple wipe-downs before they could be brought inside. There was only enough room on the main floor to put up two tables with chairs around them for additional seating to the dining table though, so we never could seat more than 28 (22 at a table) at a time. The 3rd table we used to serve from as the kitchens are very small.
Other: At check-in we unexpectedly found ourselves unloading the dishwasher from the previous guest.
We had fun anyway!
First impression was Wow! what a big beautiful cabin! Bedrooms nice size, bathrooms very clean, 3 kitchens well stocked. Were looking forward to sharing the hot tub with family. No water in it! Person was supposed to come fill it, never did, after 2 hours (now 6:30pm or so) and my son Andrew was given directions to start filling it (he could have started 2 hr earlier!) So, it couldn't be warm enough till tomorrow. Then ... power failure 3am. Of course this was no fault of the owners. 8am we started to get creative how to fix breakfast. Finally found a barbecue lighter in a kitchen, lit 2 burners on the gas range AND we found 2 barbecue grills! The one on the south (I think) end had a totally grease covered cookie sheet in it (I hope that renter was cited) but we made do, even baked raw cinnamon rolls in the grill! New experience. By now there was no hot water, so we were washing greasy pots and skillets with plenty of soap and ice-cold water. We did a lot of that Sat and Sun . We sent 3 of the men after ice in Cedar City since local was completely out by 1pm Sat. for our food in the warming refrigerators. No one was able to take a bath the whole time. No hot tub to warm up in .... we were warm at night, plenty of blankets. With 10 kids under 12, I thought they adapted very well, exploring the land, going on hikes, making posters and tie-dyed shirts. The kids found 6 or 7 broken sleds, 1 complete one, and the trashiness was too bad. But we enjoyed the crisp cool air, beautiful sunsets in this gorgeous mountain retreat. I'd say the most unsettling factor in the cabin was that when we came, there was a BANDAID stuck to the family room ceiling, water was leaking from the next floor up from something, and over 2 days, the ceiling there was starting to bulge. Obviously the leak was not attended to before we came. We were just grateful the ceiling didn't come down while we were there. Debra, you were quite responsive but we think you need to be more personally aware of the state of the cabin, because it is such a beautiful location and cabin.
This cabin was perfect for our group and had all the amenities that you could ask for. The owners were extremely helpful and made sure we had a pleasant stay. I would absolutely stay in this cabin again.
Our family had a wonderful Thanksgiving in this cabin.
There were plenty of bedrooms and the 3 kitchens were perfect to cook our Thanksgiving dinner. The skiing was fun with short lift lines and the scenery spectacular. Thank you, we’ll probably be doing this again!
The home is spacious but aging.
40+ family members over 3 days had a wonderful time!
The accommodations all worked out great for our family with just over 40 of us staying in the house. With the 3 kitchens there was plenty of refrigerator and cooking space and a higher number of bathrooms than we've had in previous rentals for our reunions. The high elevation proved a challenge for some of our family from lower elevation, especially going up and down the stairs. We also found both positives and negatives for have separate entrances to the houses. We were able to separate the adults and children for some activities, but it did feel divided at some points. Everything was clean and well maintained. A deer was spotted several times a day just across the street and there was plenty of parking for our 7-8 vehicles. We enjoyed going into Cedar Breaks as well as Brian Head resort. Pay attention to the number of beds if you have people needing beds, but there was plenty of floor space in the basement for children to sleep on. The owner was quick to respond to any questions I had and easy to work with.
