About the property

Incredible Views/Easy Beach Access/Lovely Home Away from Home

At Tanera Moor, it's hard to decide which is more beautiful - the woods or the sea view. This beach house is stylishly appointed with stunning views across a small estuary into the Bay. The house features an open floor plan for easy entertaining. See diverse wildlife including, herons, swans, ospreys, bald eagles, and pelicans as you cook, read, or relax. Six bicycles provided free of charge with the rental provide guests an quick ride to the beach, which is a block and a half away. Or, amble down to the private, sandy beach by foot with beach bag in hand.

Once you reach the beach, 2 kayaks will await you - at not additional cost to exploure the Chesapeake Bay or one of the many nearby creeks that are full of birds and native grasses. Kayak or bicycle - the world is your oyster here.

Back in the house, the open floor plan, complete with a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, and sitting room allows a family or group to be together whether cooking, playing games, watching television or just relaxing. The fireplace makes winter days at Tanera as enticing as summer days. For even more relaxation, enjoy a wine tasting at nearby Woodlawn plantation - Slack wine dot com.

A short bike ride away is Point Lookout State Park, a Civil War site. Today the park, which is located on the point where the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River meet, hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping or enjoying nature as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Or charter a boat at one of many local marinas for a day of fishing on the Bay. Another nearby historical site is St. Mary's City (10 miles), the original capital of Maryland.

Visitors are 25 minutes from dining and shopping on Solomon's Island or in historic Leonardtown. Or enjoy one of several local marina restaurants. Want a day trip away? All that the nation's capital has to offer is a short 80 miles away.

Collect shells and beach glass while walking uninterrupted for miles along the sandy beach. Unlike typical cheek-by-jowl beach houses, Tanera offers its visitors direct Bay views while nestled on one and one-half 1/2 acres of land. Enjoy rare waterview privacy (no other houses between your view and the Bay) and access so close to major cities and amenities.

Keywords: beautifully decorated; open floor plan; sweeping views across Bay; chic beach style

What makes this house unique

It's rare to find a property that has beautiful woods behind and to both sides with an amazing view to the Bay at the front of the house. Truly nestled in the woods yet with the amazing views of the Bay.

Great! House, bikes, soap, every dish i needed.....even a bunny in the front yard!

We had a great time. We could walk to the beach and beachcomb or kayak, or take a leisurely bike ride, or drive to Point Lookout, or just sit in living room and view the beautiful scenery. The house had everything we could want. Scotland Yards is a diamond on the do a great job, from fixing up the homes to making sure the guests feel comfortable. Thanks, see you soon!

Fantastic accomodations

  • 5 of 5

Peggy's place was perfect for what we needed. Working night shift the place and surrounding area was quiet. Comfortable beds and I'm guessing it was recently updated. Had a few minor issues that she took care of immediately. It wasn't so much a vacation for us but would definitely recommend it for a vacation spot. Thanks for having us.

Our Little Beach Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My girls, two of their friends and our pups stayed for a week. It was our first time on the bay and in Scotland, MD. It was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation we've had. The cottage is beautiful, clean and has everything you need. We spent our days bicycling to the beach, swimming, kayaking and sunbathing and really didn't long for much more! We had the private beach to ourselves and there was very little traffic. It felt like being on our own little island. We did have deer visit in the woods out back, which was an added treat! The other review was helpful so we were careful when driving as there were deer that crossed the roadways. Peggy was wonderful to work with and very responsive as well as flexible!

Perfect place to escape the hustle & bustle

  • 5 of 5

First let me begin by saying if you are looking for place with an active night life and places to party this is not it. This is however the perfect spot to get away from EVERYTHING. You are truly surrounded by nothing but nature. Which was exactly what me, my husband, and our kids (ages 7 and 9) needed. We loved that we were able to bring our Great Dane with us. The private beach was awesome! Didn't have to worry about losing our kids on a crowded beach. The water was warm and gentle so no worries about a strong current or anything like that. The kayaks were a hit with my hubby and kids. We would have loved to use the bikes that came with the cottage but both of our kids still require training wheels so we didn't get to enjoy them. The cottage itself was quite comfortable. You could tell it had been recently redone and was in the process of having more done to it. It was stocked nicely with everything you needed to prepare a meal and then some. The only thing missing was a DVD player and we ended up purchasing a cheap one and leaving it there for future guests. The bed linens were nice and the mattresses were super comfortable. Hubby and I always dread staying on beds away from home because we are never comfortable. That was NOT the case here. In fact I wish I had checked the brand on them before we left. I did have to call property management with a question or two during our stay and they were always very quick at answering or getting back to me. We will definitely be back to stay in another one of Ms. Binzel's properties in the future. Perhaps next time we will stay in one that is directly on the water!!

Our family of 5 and 2 big dogs fit comfortably. Two minute bike ride to the private beach!

  • 5 of 5

We adored this house! It's a modern rustic 3 bed 2 bath home. Black and white 16x16 (?) tile flooring in the living areas and hardwood floor in the bedrooms. Kitchen is newly renovated with white subway tiles throughout, white cabinets throughout, and butcher block counter top. Newly added morning room. Bedrooms were a good size with a full bathroom in the master bedroom. The hall bath has a heater feature that my kids truly enjoyed because it kept them extra toasty!

Small home with a very big front and back yard that is also very neat and clean. We grilled on the front side of the house and also hung out on the front porch. The house offered 6 adult bikes (and also a 20 inch kid's bike not on property but available upon request). We brought 2 small bikes for our kids. We rode our bikes to the beach which was just a two minute bike ride away. One day we drove to the beach to tow extra beach items and our two dogs, then dropped off the car back home (no place to leave the car there) and then rode the bike back to the beach and then rode the bike back home again to get the car and get the rest of the gang at the end of our day. We frequented the beach a lot except for one day when the weather was not cooperating. We rode our bikes to the Point Lookout State Park and other neighborhood within the area.

They have great internet signal at home, but when you get out of the home vicinity... no internet signal available.

Be careful driving at night there! It's very dark, no street lights and deer frequently crossing!

The owner offered good customer service.

My entire family really loved it here! We were all sad to leave! Highly recommended!
