Very nice house, location, and people

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The owners are close by and very helpful. They provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay (except, of course, for consumables). The house is located in a good area of restaurants, bars, and shopping within walking distance.

The description in the listing was accurate. Property was clean and well kept.

We would definitely stay here again and recommend this to anybody wanting better lodging than a hotel.

Clean and comfortable!

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my week at Monica's apartment. The outside of this Victorian house has been well cared for. The apartment was spotless and roomier than I thought it would be. The kitchen is great with up to date fridge and stove, with granite counters. Plenty of things to cook with, and a nice dishwasher and good sized kitchen table. The master bed was comfy and I appreciated the quality sheets and plenty of extra blankets. The bathroom had loads of nice quality towels. Monica was very friendly and gave me a tour, letting me know I could contact her upstairs for anything that I needed. After that, she gave me privacy for my time there. The location is great - I walked just a few blocks to shopping and restaurants. I enjoyed Julie's cafe for coffee and quiche, an easy 5 minute walk. And I used Uber rides for getting to farther places. I'd never used Uber before and it was super easy and fun! The only downside of being in an older house is that you can sometimes hear the noise of other people above, so it might not work for people who really need it super quiet. Other than that, it worked out very well for me and I would come back! Thanks, Monica!

Owner's Response: Yes, there was some unusual noise in the apartment above that week. The couple who live in the apt. above; he is retired and she is a school teacher. They have twin daughters who goes to college in New York. The twin daughters came home for a visit that week to visit their parents. The family spend a lot of time together in the living room right above the apartment where the VRBO guest was staying. They were happy to be together and a little noisy. The daughters have already return to New York to continue college. If they come back I will talk to the parents about the noise. It should be no problem; they are a very nice couple. I have a very good relationship with them; and if they are aware that they are a little bit noisy when their daughters are around; I am sure they will stop the noise so that they don't disturb the neighbors in the building. You cannot hear the neighbors next door or any noise in the building unless someone is playing loud music and have their windows open. This Victorian is in the Gold Coast neighborhood, which is a quiet area of the city of Alameda, CA; and most of the people who live in the area are educated professionals. There is not a lot of noise.
