Condo (2 Bedroom, 2 Bath)
Our spectacular beach property is 'On The Sand,' offering its own private beach while providing white water views and soothing ocean sounds (you hear the surf in every room). It has a bright beachy decor and a quiet location - conveniently located halfway between the Village in Carlsbad and the Pier in Oceanside (we walk on the sand to both).
This completely renovated home is fully furnished (we relax here frequently) and offers sweeping ocean views from La Jolla to Catalina. You can watch the dolphins play or the whales spout from the living room, deck, or beach.
At night, visit one of the area's fine restaurants or simply dine on the beach while watching the beautiful sun set over the Pacific. During the day, relax on the beach or enjoy the numerous activities that are unique to this fabulous destination.
This listing is for UNIT B.
UNIT B (sleeps 1 to 6): Has 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms and has a California king size bed in the master bedroom, a full size on the bottom and twin on top (bunk bed) in the guest bedroom, and a queen size sofa sleeper in the living room.
There are 3 different units. Unit A (2 Bd, 1 Ba - sleeps 6), Unit B (2 Bd, 2 Ba - sleeps 6), and Unit C (1 Bd, 1 Ba - sleeps 4). Unit A is VRBO #882233, Unit C is VRBO #253036, and all 3 units are VRBO #882235.
The units are vertically arranged with Unit A at the street level, Unit B in the middle, and Unit C at the sand level. All 3 units face the ocean, have oceanfront decks, and share the private beach.
Our beach house is 'well cared for' since we personally (as well as our family) stay in all 3 units, and we do have wireless broadband internet access. Over the years, we have had 100s of delighted beach loving guests.

We had long desired to have a beachfront home and when we found this gem we were thrilled. We selected this area because it is right in the middle of a beautiful wide sandy beach that stretches for 3 miles from the village of Carlsbad to the pier in Oceanside. We also liked the fact that the house was located in a less dense area with mostly beach homes. Most of all we were excited by the private beach and the fact that we didn’t have to cross a street or get in a car to enjoy the ocean!

Value rental. Very nice owners
On the ocean. We loved having our window open at night and going to sleep with the waves crashing. That was awesome.
Unit has adequate space for a small family. It was situated between a lower and upper unit. It has two bathrooms one of which in the kids room has a bath tub.
The private sand backyard was the "beach" and was a nice place to let the kids play.
The owners are very nice. In today's world most times you don't have an actual conversation with the owners-it's mainly through email, but in talking with owners, you could tell they really try to provide a comfortable place for people and families to stay at. This was a reason for a higher review as we had issues with the cleaning crew that the owners resolved.
Washer and Dryer provide on premises for laundry needs.
The outdoor shower is in a bad position. After playing in the sand or being at the beach, you want to rinse off. The outdoor shower was right in the sand. So you would shower off and then walk in the sand and get more sand on you. It would be nice if they would place a rubber mat or wooden mat to help keep you clean after rinsing off.
The journey down to the beach is quite treacherous. There are huge boulders, but the "steps" are not uniform and do not go all the way to the beach. This is really difficult with kids and a hazard. It would be nice to place cement steps all the way down.
The actual beach was only accessible during low tide. Perhaps this was just how it was on our stay. High tide and no sand. Low tide and sand was there, but stayed wet from the water. Only dry sand was in the backyard.
Glad you had a good time! We plan to have better steps to the beach within the next few weeks, but there is also shoreline access 2 houses down. The sand does tend to come and go with the tides & swells. There are actually bricks under the outdoor shower and a path to the house steps that have become covered with sand. So, we'll uncover.
Darling property, very clean with everything you need to enjoy your stay.
Amazing stay. The beach is right out your back door. If you want a beach experience this is it. The place was perfect and the rocks going down to the beach were awesome
Wonderful location, great ocean sounds, clean house with all the basics!
Used VRBO for the first time and Kelley made it a great experience answering all questions timely. Could not have asked for a more relaxing and peaceful getaway right AT the beach. The house was clean and had all the basics you would need. Plenty of extra blankets pillows and towels. It was roomy and we did not feel like we were on top of eachother. We didn't need to leave the house for anything. There were utensils, plates, Bounty towels, coffee filters you name it....A hair dryer would have been great though (or maybe I didn't see it) but it was all good, I let my wild curls take over. I look forward to staying here again. IT WAS AWESOME! Also, the pictures as advertised on VRBO were true to life. If you don't like hearing footsteps above you though, rent out the uppermost unit. Unit B was where we stayed, right at the middle, and it offered the best view of the ocean. Our fellow house guests were also very friendly and quiet. I would rent again with Kelley, Unit B in a heartbeat.
-A satisfied customer!
I loved this place!
We stayed here with two toddlers and it just couldn’t have been more perfect. The house had everything we needed and when I had a question Kelly got right back to me super helpful and kind.
We truly loved the rustic stairs leading to the beach!
Would defiantly like to come back again.
Grateful for the memories, amazing place, outstanding host...a million stars!!
We absolutely loved staying here with our two young kids and made amazing memories. The place itself is very nice, and has everything we wanted and more. The oceanfront presence is nothing short of amazing. The sound of the waves when you sleep at night and wake in the morning is beautiful. And then, you open the doors and that same sound just envelops the place, and for ocean lovers like us, again, did I mention amazing?! AMAZING!!!
Working with Kelley was a pleasure and knowing she's always improving the place (and its already great!) and really takes an interest in making sure the place is one where you can make great memories with your loved ones is awesome. Walking the oceanfront to breakfast at the Buccaneer Cafe which had very good coffee and food was great! You get a real sense of the locals who were very cool.
The fenced-in sand backyard is great; kids can experience playing in the sand, using the toys provided to build sand castles and play together. When we want to go down to the ocean, the rocks (which I read in a previous review were a challenge for somebody else) were an absolute breeze for my wife and I, and we were carrying our kids down, too (almost 2 & 3 year olds). Once you take a trip down the rocks solo (there's a handrail for support if needed) and back up, you learn its pretty much a cake walk. Please, don't let that deter you from enjoying this amazing place unless you know you'd have a hard time with very slightly more challenging stairs. My wife and I are definitely well past our athletic primes and we wouldn't hesitate to go down to the water with the kids.
From the balcony of our 2nd floor residence during the afternoon, we spotted a couple dolphins and a seal (or sea lion?) out in the water... very, very cool, and they were just beyond where the surfers are awaiting the break of waves. You see surfers, especially in the morning and evening when the waves really get kicking!
The local food scene is pretty much anything you want it to be. The farmers market was really pleasant, there's a host of great breakfast places, and one of the days we didn't want to miss the sunset, we had a giant bucket of seafood deliciousness delivered!
We will 100% be back and have been trying to recruit family to go with and rent other floors with us to make it a big affair with the cousins (that'd be a blast! There are 6 of them ages 1-4). I'd love to have the other families make memories as amazing as ours, and preferable with us!
Amazing home and beach - loved it.
The only thing holding me back from leaving a five star review is the dangerous hike down the rocks to the beach. Looking at the pictures I didn't even know that there was rocks between the condo on the beach. For me there was a constant level of anxiety knowing my children are walking down sometimes slippery and sharp rocks with a wobbly handrail to get from the condo to the beach. The neighbors had stairs that we started using due to my safety concerns. Overall fantastic vacation. I love the location of the home, the beach was amazing and the house was awesome. If stairs are put in I would be happy to rent this home again and again.
The rock steps to the main beach should be fine for most families and individuals. They have been the same for the 17 years we've owned the property and we have many guests age 70+ (including my mother) who go up and down the steps regularly. There is also a handrail. Additionally, there are two public access points nearby. One 2 houses to the north and the second at Buccaneer Beach which is .2 mile south.
It is a short ride to San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Disneyland and of course Legoland.
