About Tom Ives
I grew up in Solon, Ohio and vacationed on Hilton Head almost every year since 1972...I know, that's a long time! Graduated from Michigan State University's Hotel and Restaurant Management program and moved to DC where I started my career as a hospitality analyst / consultant. Since then I've worked in hotel development, finance, and ownership. And, for the past 25 years, I've worked as a hotel real estate broker selling hotels all over the country. Having traveled extensively, I can tell you there is no better place to come home to than Hilton Head Island - even though I still maintain residences in Atlanta and Hilton Head.

Why Tom Ives chose Sea Pines
My parents built a home in Hilton Head Plantation in 1990 and for most of my kid's childhood, we used Folly Beach or Coligny Beach, but pretty much forgot about Sea Pines. Then in 2013, we rediscovered Sea Pines and all of its beauty. Plus, The Riverstone Group has now poured nearly $200 million into new Sea Pines Resort amenities like The Beach Club, The Plantation Club, the new Harbour Town Links Clubhouse and all the new improvements to the Marina. So the trick was to find a place walking distance to the beach that wouldn't break the bank. And Bluff Villas was the perfect fit. We bought a two-bedroom condo in 2013 and renovated it top to bottom. Then, in January 2016, we bought 1701 Bluff Villas - a ground floor, walk-out end unit with an expansive view of Calibogue Sound.

The combination of being able to walk to the beach and walk to the South Beach Marina is unlike any other location on Hilton Head. You can stroll over to the Salty Dog on any evening, catch live entertainment, and watch the boats sail in and out. You can ride your bike from the patio to Harbour Town or anywhere on the island via bike paths. Or if you want to play golf or tennis, it's all doable within a short drive. Finally, our condo is not simply a repaint with new carpeting. It's a total makeover. We've redesigned it functionally and physically to exceed today's lodging standards. Enjoy your stay!
