About Sabine Thompson

I am French, born and raised in Southern France and with my English husband Nick we have been running this property for several years, first, to make wine.

Sabine Thompson purchased this villa in 2005

Why Sabine Thompson chose Provence

My English husband, Nick, and I, Sabine, have managed this vineyard for some twenty years. Charmed by the site, we decided to develop one part of the buildings into holiday accommodation, thus sharing our enthusiasm with our holiday guests.

What makes this villa unique

I enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Mas Meyeau as well as the stunning views of the surrounding hills. All this in the shade of more than a hundred year old plain-trees.

A true characterful place to be discovered.

Roomy Accomodations in Great Location.

  • 4 of 5

The two rental houses are attached to a winery and have a connected entry to accommodate large groups. The nights are silent as it is in the middle of the vineyards. There is a large pool for summer activities. The hosts, Nick and Sabine, are very friendly and helpful. There are lots of bathrooms and good showers. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The kitchens are large and set up for sizeable groups to dine together.

Cairanne is well situated for day trips to interesting places such as Avignon, Orange, Vaison La Romaine, and various hill towns and wine towns. There is a small grocer and a bakery in the village and it is a 10 minute drive to a larger supermarket. Hyper-marches are also available a bit further away. There are some fabulous restaurants within a 15 minute drive.

I would recommend the houses to anyone wanting to tour the area and sample wine or to families taking advantage of the pool and sun in the summer.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind comments John. Mas Meyeau is designed with two wings and a central entrance to provide comfort, space and a certain sense of seclusion if thought after! Two kitchens, a luxury. Within easy reach one can also discover other many interesting and reputed places, hilltops villages of the Luberon and Ventoux, historic towns such as Aix-en-Provence, Uzès or Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. The region is also forging a certain reputation for gastronomy. Last but not the least, mas Meyeau is situated on one of the most famous Rhone Valley wines routes. All the best to you and Diane. Wonderful villa and location

  • 5 of 5

We have searched for many years for the perfect villa for 10 people in the Vaucluse and are delighted finally to have found it! The air con makes such a difference and the villa is spacious and comfortable with everything that you could need for an enjoyable holiday. The proximity to Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles makes this an excellent location - and certainly a perfect base for exploring the fantastic wines of the region; Chateauneuf, Gigondas, Vacqueyras et al. Sabine and Nick were excellent hosts and attended to our every need.

A 60th birthday celebration I'll never forget!

  • 5 of 5

WOW!!!AMAZING!!!!! These are some of the thoughts that went through our heads as Sabine showed us around the villa for the first time. As my family (10 adults and 2 children) lazed by the pool, we were all pinching ourselves thinking "I can't believe this is ours for 2 weeks!! Honestly, the photos you see on the website do not do this magnificent property justice.

The setting of the villa is quite stunning, the house is beautifully cared for with a relaxed feel and stylish decor. Bedrooms are spacious with beautiful views from every window in the house. The kitchen is very well equipped with modern appliances and plenty of descent crockery (not the mismatch that you sometimes get).

The huge dining table was a hit too as most nights we cooked at home using the local produce purchased from the markets. The gorgeous pool and setting was a real treat to come home to after long days visiting the wineries and stunning stoned villages with their quaint little churches.

I must also mention that Nick and Sabine were very gracious hosts who went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed 2 nights getting to know them and their charming youngest daughter. And last but not least, Sabine is a great cook too!

Thank you Nick and Sabine, we have all had the most memorable holiday we will never ever forget. One day we hope to return!

Fabulous house in a beautiful corner of France!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a fantastic holiday at L'Ameillaud, it really was perfect. We were 9 altogether, also coming and going at various times, and the house worked very well for us. So lovely and restful and so light everywhere with soft muted colours , and excellant air conditioning in the bedrooms, which was definitely needed as the weather was 34C on several days. We were very fortunate to be about at the start of the grape harvest in the area, which was very interesting for us as each Domaine, and there were very many, had there own distinctive rose' and red wine and it was so easy just to turn up and taste!

This whole area of Provence spoils one for choice with the plethora of beautiful hill side stone villages, wonderful gastronomic restaurants and of course, wine!

Nick and Sabine were very welcoming and helpful hosts, suggesting restaurants and Domaines to visit and lots of "stuff" to do in the area, such as driving to the top of Mount Ventoux. We also took our 2 small dogs and L'Ameillaud was perfect and safe for them . Loved the Two weeks we were there and highly recommend this property and this part of France! Thanks so much Sabine and Nick. Regards Rob and Shellee Lawson

Owner's Response: Dear Shellee and Rob, Many thanks for your kind words. As Shelle says there is still something pleasantly natural about the villages that ....the area. The region offers an alternative to some of the better known valleys of Provence. wine and fine dining are a happy marraige to be taken both separately or together and there is much to discover. as per the dogs we don't normally accept them but on this occasion yours showed excellent training. Hope to see you all again, Nick and Sabine

Fabulous stay in great property-highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay at L'Ameillaud. We were 12 people and the house was very roomy and comfortable. The pool was a lot of fun. Waking up and picking cherries and other fruits from the trees was a real treat. So was roaming the quiet countryside near the house. Eating in the outside tables was also great fun.

Sabine and Nick could not have been nicer, more pleasant, or more helpful. They helped me with a package that I needed sent to the house before the holiday. When the cook that they had arranged to help us with meals had to leave last-minute due to a family emergency, Sabine took over the cooking and made us amazing food. They helped us find restaurants in the area, order a chef over to cook a special meal, and many other things. Nick also gave us a very interesting tour of the vineyard. We sincerely felt that they are going out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They have made this a very memorable trip for all of us and we sincerely appreciate all their efforts.

I highly recommend the property and would certainly rent it again.

Owner's Response: We are only too pleased Uri to see how much you enjoyed your stay. We very much hope to see you another time at mas Meyeau! Although there are only 5 bedrooms, therefore ideal for 10 people, the two largest bedrooms each about 28m2 (300sq) have a spare bed. Food is also an important element when traveling to France. This is why we are keen on being able to recommend good restaurants around (quite a few are Michelin starred), order a Chef over to cook a special meal or having amazing meals delivered. Although unexpected I enjoyed cooking for you all. Perhaps I will do it again! As a passionate winemaker, Nick is always only too happy to share his knowledge and experience with our guests. Best wishes Nick & Sabine

We loved our stay.

  • 5 of 5

Dear Sabine and Nick,

We loved our stay at your wonderful house! We had so many people coming and going all the time it could be confusing! Everyone enjoyed themselves with the downtime at the house between the Euro cup games and venturing out to watch the Tour de France.

The house was well appointed with all the cooking and serving utensils required for everyone - for a couple of days with 11 people, it never seemed crowded or overwhelming! Everyone enjoyed the pool, drinking wine and dining around the large table outside. And we especially loved having Nick show us all the vineyard and winery, how the grafting was done and explain the wines!

We also loved meeting two of your lovely daughters and spending some time with your wonderful family - what a treat.

We will always have great memories of our stay there, and if you ever plan a trip to the states and to Colorado - please let us know!

Many thanks - and best wishes to all

Owner's Response: Dear Lynn and Rob, We were evidently very happy to welcome you here at mas Meyeau. Space is often a luxury. We have this at the mas Meyeau and it seems to greatly appreciated. A three weeks stay is a venture particularly given the movement of people during that period. We were impressed by your management. Your comments on the kitchen and the equipment are appreciated, particularly coming from a "cordon bleu"! Vines and wines are an integral part of our activity and it is a pleasure for Nick to set up Wines Tours and share with our guests his knowledge and enthusiasm. One day, who knows, we will see you in Colorado! We hope to see you another time here in Provence! Best wishes, Sabine
