With a name as charming as Rosebud, you expect only great things from the Victoria town on the Mornington Peninsula. It doesn't disappoint. The classic beachfront area seems like something out of an old-school beach flick, what with its plush sands, bright blue waters, and lively downtown area. Sporting enthusiasts love the area for its plentiful opportunities, but even those who just want to get away from the grind will be grateful they booked a Rosebud vacation rental. There's much to do here, whether you're on the sand, in the water, or pounding the pavement.
It's a-maze-ing what a little wine can do
The incredible Enchanted Adventure Garden is just a 10-minute drive from the heart of Rosebud, and it's worth the short trek. It's a lively, family-friendly theme park that is especially popular for its devilishly difficult mazes. You may feel a bit like Harry Potter himself when you finally make your way out—and you may need a sip of the good stuff if you've spent a whole day entertaining the kids there. Make your way to the Blue Range Estate, an exceptional vineyard and winery that offers spectacular Port Philip Bay and Bass Strait views.
The watersports capital of the peninsula
Rosebud is renowned for its swimming beaches. If you're a sports junkie, you may catch the town's Australian Rules football team. There are also several golf courses in the vicinity. Or rent a bike and take a ride on over 80 miles of trails along the peninsula. Shopping here is nearly as popular as watersports, but it's not what you'd expect. Here, lively farmers' markets get all the glory. If you're lucky, you can grab some fresh fruit to enjoy on a camping adventure, but you're just as likely to find a handmade craft or a vintage treasure.
Raindrops keep falling on my head
It's beautiful in Rosebud year round, but if you have a thing for the summer sun it's best to arrive in January or February and soak it up. Temperatures hover at around the 70-degree mark. During winter, temperatures drop to around 55 degrees, and the months are packed with constant rainfalls. In fact, June, July, and August are dominated at least half the time by the wet stuff. In other words, bring your umbrella if you've booked a winter Rosebud vacation rental.
Things are getting wild in Rosebud
Exquisite plants—over 20,000 of them, to be precise—line the grounds of the 22-hectare Panorama Garden Estate. It's an elegant spot that offers phenomenal water views of Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait. While here, keep watch for wildlife, as you never know when you'll encounter a wallaby, a kangaroo, a goat, a cow, or a soaring bird overhead. The brilliant foliage in Arthurs Seat State Park is equally mesmerizing, and provides a bit of calm when you need to escape your Rosebud vacation rental and breathe in the fresh air.
