This is the apartment you are looking for: large (93m2) and beautiful, located in the city center -- steps from the Seine -- with all the creature comforts that you could desire. This meticulously-kept apartment is located on the 1st floor (2nd floor American) of an elegant "Hausmannian" building dating from the end of the 19th century. The tall windows of the living and dining rooms open onto the Boulevard de la Bastille, with a lovely view of the boats in the marina. The bedroom windows overlook a quiet private garden belonging to the building. The large floor-to-ceiling tiled bathroom boasts a 1m2 shower and large bidet; the separate WC is bright and comfortable (see photos).

Located a few steps from the Place de la Bastille (not far from the Place des Vosges) in one direction, from the Gare de Lyon in another, the Jardin des Plantes / Gare d'Austerlitz in another, and finally just across from the Marais, you will have Paris at your feet! (And a very comfortable place in which to rest those feet at the end of a long day exploring the City of Light.)

Layout: the spacious entrance is the heart of the apartment, and leads to the salon, the large dining room, the two bedrooms, the bathroom, the kitchen (which is also accessed from the dining room) and the separate WC. The apartment can sleep 5 or 6 for short-term rentals; 4 persons are maximum for long term.

There are two beds (160 cm and 140 cm wide, respectively) plus a sofabed in the salon.

Equipment: full-size dishwasher, brand new German clothes washer and separate dryer, new electric oven with gas hobs, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, and every piece of kitchen equipment you could ever want. Extremely fast Wi-Fi, cable TV, iHome, 2 Hi-Fi stereos, a printer/copier/scanner, and a portable air conditioner [cools one room only]. The house phone provides free calling to all landlines in Western Europe and to *all* telephones in North America and France.

  • Both bedrooms are quite large, with comfortable wide beds. Each of the two has a desk, bedside table, bookshelf, and an armoire. There is also, a stereo system and a fireplace in the first room. What is more important is that both rooms overlook a quiet garden belonging to the building. They are well protected from the noise of the boulevard! You can close both doors to the living room, and sleep there undisturbed on the sofa bed. (However, it is generally not permitted except for very short stays.)

My husband and I bought this apartment in 2001, and we lived there for 10 years. For family reasons, we returned to our home in California, but starting in 2018 will return to spending 1/2 the year here. Our loss is your gain: we are able to offer you the chance to spend a beautiful holiday in our very comfortable apartment in the heart of Paris.

Loved working with Laura and the apartment was just like home

I feel lucky this apartment was even available for my timeframe. It was perfectly situated and had all the amenities of home. I've rented many houses/apartments and everything extra is locked and only basics are available. This whole house is available and she even had some staples in the cupboard and fridge for us for our first night there. There were tons of spices, condiments, and sauces for us. We needed just a sheet for sleeping because the duvets are just too warm for us No. California people and the cupboard with all the towels and sheets were available to us. There's no need to bring Paris guides because there are many already there along with many many books in both French and English.

We had a miscommunication with obtaining the key before we left and Laura was right on it with her friend Anna meeting us there to get us in. And, if you get to meet Anna, she will start your stay in Paris on such a good note--lovely lovely lady (even if we don't speak the same language---at all).

I would book this apartment again in a heartbeat.

Well located, plenty of room and lots of light in Paris

We just got back from a wonderful week in Paris. Complementing the spring time weather, good food and stimulating museums was our stay at Laura and John's apartment. For starters it is very well located. It is within walking distance of Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter, Place des Voges and the Centre Pompidou and a fast bicycle ride to the Louve, along the Seine at that! The apartment itself has everything one could need plus comfortable beds. What is particularly nice about it is it gets lots of light and it is spacious. Finally, our hostess Laura was a pleasure to deal with. She was very responsive and helpful, even ordering our cab to the airport when it was time to say adieu a Paris. We highly recommend this property and hostess!

Absolutely Wonderful In All Ways

If there is a better choice for a short- or long-term rental in Paris, I haven't seen it. This apartment, Chez Rhodes-Morland, has it all: location, comfort, welcoming and knowledgable owner. My wife and I spent three and a half months here and couldn't have been happier. The apartment is located in the 12th arrondissement, across the canal from the 4th and down the boulevard from the Bastille Opera and the "July column." While there are many restaurants located around the Bastille, it is also an easy walk to the fine restaurants on the Ile St Louis and the Marais. St Germain and the Latin Quarter are short (and scenic) bus rides away, as is the Eiffel Tower. As a matter of fact, the bus to the Eiffel Tower (no. 69) takes such a scenic route (through the Marais, between the Tuilleries and the Louvre pyramid, then along the Seine on the Left Bank) that we rode it several times to several places. For those more comfortable on the Metro, the station is a mere half-block away. One of Paris's best outdoor/indoor markets at Place d'Alligre (Beauvau) is a short walk as well. The apartment itself is beautifully maintained with comfortable beds, large living spaces, and bedrooms that look out onto the wonderful garden at the back of the building. One bonus is that the bedrooms are both located on the garden side and away from the boulevard. The kitchen is very large for a Paris apartment and includes every cooking utensil (manual and electrical) that one could want, with a full-size refrigerator to hold the wonderful items we purchased on a daily basis (even when we ate out, which we did most of the time). The owners are readily available by phone and are very helpful with anything and everything -- just ask! We loved our time in Paris, and this apartment certainly contributed to that wonderful experience.

Great place - very friendly host

You will feel like you have been living in Paris for years in this place: Plenty of space, books, nice furniture - a really pleasant place to stay. And the host was very helpful, both before and during the stay. She called us from the US just to check if everything was ok.
