Whisperingsand-The Beach House

Le WhisperingSand Beach House est situé dans le village balnéaire de Kilcunda, à seulement 10 km de Phillip Island / San Remo, à 14 km de Wonthaggi sur la superbe côte Bass, et à seulement 1,5 heure du quartier des affaires de Melbourne. C'est le joyau caché de la côte basse et une excellente base de vacances pour la région. Vous pourrez pratiquer de nombreuses activités dans les environs, comme le surf, la pêche, le parapente, la descente à la main sur la côte, l'équitation et autres. De cause, de belles plages, barbecue, pique-nique et aire de jeux pour enfants, piscines de roche, bonne nourriture / boissons sont également parmi la liste des choses que vous pouvez faire.

Le WhsiperingSand Beach House se trouve à seulement 300 mètres des plages, à 100 mètres des sentiers côtiers et du Pub, dans une rue tranquille derrière le Pub Kilcunda (Ocean View Hotel) qui est célèbre non seulement pour sa vue imprenable sur la côte. pont, mais aussi la bonne bouffe et l'hospitalité.

Debout sur le balcon de la maison de plage WhisperingSand, la vue spectaculaire sur l'océan de Shelly Beach juste en face de vous, en regardant les vagues qui roulent à la plage et en écoutant le bruit des vagues battant les rochers. Pendant les mois d'été, vous pouvez également voir les magnifiques couchers de soleil sur l'océan, même assis dans le salon.

La plage Shelly, qui ont piscine de roche agréable pour les enfants à jouer, est juste en face de la maison de plage, avec seulement <100 m à pied. La plage de surf de Kilcunda est également accessible à pied.

Le sentier de randonnée George Coastal, récemment réaménagé, est situé au sommet de la falaise et offre une vue spectaculaire sur la côte Bass, notamment l'île Philip et le cap Paterson.

L'ancien sentier de chemin de fer de la basse-côte (Anderson à Wonthaggi, ~ 16 km) a également été réaménagé en une belle piste cyclable / de randonnée qui traverse de nombreux sites miniers historiques avec des paysages fantastiques.

Courte distance en voiture de San Remo (~ 8-10min), vous pouvez profiter du marché du dimanche, ou aux îles Philip où beaucoup de plaisir et d'activités pour la famille et les enfants.

Aussi une courte distance en voiture (10-12min) au centre de la ville minière de Wonthaggi, où les grands magasins et services sont disponibles.

La maison de plage de 2 étages sont entièrement clôturée avec une grande cour, et contient 2 quartiers séparés de vie (à l'étage et en bas) petite cuisine entièrement équipée et 2 salles de bains avec douche et toilettes séparées. Idéal pour plusieurs familles vacances ensemble. Il dispose de quatre chambres (2 à l'étage et 2 en bas) avec 2 lits queen et 2 lits simples et 1 lit king-size (linge BYO, ou peuvent être fournis avec un petit supplément).

L'heure de départ standard le jour du départ est 12h. Cependant, plus tard "OUT Check-" (jusqu'à 16 heures) est possible si elle est disponible, afin que les clients peuvent profiter de leur dernière journée à la maison de plage sans la ruée. A great get-away location

Lots of room in this house. Wonderful view of the water and sun sets from the lounge room and balcony. Within walking distance of beaches / coastal trails / general store etc. Easy access to Phillip Island and Wonthaggi. Host was great to deal with. Thank you for our lovely Kilcunda short stay.

Comfortable and close to beach with a view

Great communication with owner. House was old but comfortable. Needs some comfortable chairs for outdoor area. There was a lot of instructions for cleaning upon leaving. Would pay for cleaner next time.

Dear Mary, thank you for your feedback and I was very pleased to know that your group had a good time over there. I am sorry that my detailed checkout instruction on cleaning has made you feel a bit overwhelming. It is a standard checklist for guests to ensure that they need to leave the house safely and in the same condition as they checked-in, mostly common sense. As you can appreciate that we have guests from all sorts of areas with different living habits. A detailed checklist to assist them during checkin and checkout is important and necessary, and I have never had any complain about the checklist. Nevertheless, I can try to make the language and instruction more concise. On the other point, yes, we will try to get a few comfortable chairs for the outdoor area for the summer. Breathtaking views!

Spacious and clean house with a billion dollar view of Bass Strait from upstairs. The day we arrived we were impressed by the sparkling expanse of ocean and blue skies before us. When the weather changed, it was lovely to feel safe and snug looking out at the churning ocean and skies in the cold gale force winds, pelting rain and hail. Beautiful. Excellent communication by the host, too.

It's all about the ocean view!

It was fine for our budget. Beds were comfortable. Location was great & the view was great. Everything is very worn & dated though. It could do with a smart tv or dvd's to use in the dvd player. We also found the cleaning instructions a bit excessive, especially there was a Xmas tree in a garbage bag in the room. downstairs! Thank you for the early check in & late check out.

was good

house was in great location to Phillip Island, was a bit dissapointed there was no secure parking, by pics thought property had double gates for access to property, house was clean, but dinning floor mat was dangerous as i kept tripping over edges, TV remotes and Aircon remotes were hard to get working, and theres no hanging space for clothes, apart from that we had a great stay at Kilcundra and surrounding areas.

Hi Jenny, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you might have misunderstood the gate access and parking area to the property from the google map image. We don't have a special security locked garage, only car parking space in front of the fence, which can accommodate 2 standard cars. We will try to flatten the edges of the extra floor mat we provided under the dining table. As for the remote controls, we will check it out, as no other guests have even mentioned the issue, it might need to change the battery. there are clear instructions on the wall, nevertheless, there are clear instructions on the wall on how to operate the TV and aircons. We hope to see you again in the next season for the grandprix.

The view was lovely, spacious living areas and bedrooms.Things that could improve on:- well it is an older house and older things which is fine, I think there could be some updates like definitely the lounge which is very old and extremely well used and very low. The TV downstairs only has ABC channels. The downstairs shower has very low water pressure and was not great the main room upstairs while it has a beautiful view the window frame bangs in the wind which makes it very hard to sleep in. Some of the smaller bed sizes have very hard mattresses. It would be great to be replaced however the larger beds were comfortable.There was a very long cleaning list expected which I thought was extreme (vacuum floor, clean showers and toilet), - I didn’t agree with this, especially when you were paying premium cost in peak season and I did let the host know. especially expecting guests to clean so much when things like the cutlery drawer holder was not clean, some things could’ve been cleaner in the kitchen , some window frames dusty etc. I wouldn’t say the place overall was unclean though. They kept being instructions about bringing your own sheets and leaving the display sheet on that some of these display sheets had stains and I’m wondering if they ever get washed? I don’t think it should be up to the guest to have to clean for the next person.The TV upstairs relies on a set top box which is very temperamental.

We appreciate all your observations. Regarding the points you raised: The TV channel availability is, unfortunately, limited by the broadcast signal in our area. We have recently installed a new receiver box to improve reliability, but the channel selection remains constrained by local reception. We will look into the temperamental set-top box you mentioned for the upstairs TV. Our house is a cherished older property with character, including its original windows. While we maintain them regularly, occasional sounds like window frames in the wind can be part of its charm. We will double-check the specific window you mentioned for any necessary adjustment. Regarding the water pressure in the downstairs shower, yours is the first complaint we have received. The pressure is typical for the area, but we will have our plumber inspect it to ensure everything is functioning as it should. Concerning the mattresses, we understand that comfort is very personal. As you noted, the larger beds were comfortable for you. We do provide a variety of mattress types across the suites to cater to different preferences. We sincerely apologize for the issues you mentioned regarding cleanliness, specifically the cutlery. This is not our standard, and we will reinforce our cleaning checklist with our cleaner. Regarding the sheets, usually, we ask guests to bring their own linen. Any display sheets are for display only, not for guests to use them (as you need to use your own linens) as instructed in the check-in list. However, we provide sets of washed clean linens if it is specifically required in the booking. We laundered display sheets regularly even without people use them. Our pre-departure guidelines are very detailed. Our intention is to ask guests to leave the property in a reasonably tidy state (e.g., disposing of garbage, washing dishes etc.) to assist our cleaning team, who then perform a full, deep clean. This allows us to manage the turnover efficiently, especially during peak seasons. Thank you again for your feedback. We strive to make our historic home comfortable for all our guests, though we recognize that individual preferences and perceptions can vary. We hope you were able to enjoy the unique aspects of your stay.

Enjoyable Christmas holiday experience with family, location 45 min from home our first Xmas away.

The property was large enough for my family, 5 teenage grandchildren my partner and our son. Kitchen I found was a little small but had enough of the kitchenware we needed, a little disappointed there was no barbecue, but would of been another thing to clean anyway. Property was close enough to the beach good exercise for the kids to walk to, good walking tracks nearby and a general store just on the main road. Wonthaggi is the closest town about a 10 minute drive if you wanted to buy extra groceries. The manager was very pleasant she left easy instructions to get into the house and we were left with a Christmas gift surprise we thoroughly enjoyed.

Our goal is to provide guests with comfortable accommodation with feeling of “A Home Away from Home”. I am glad that your family thoroughly enjoyed your stay. We used to provide outdoor BBQs for guests to use, but some guests didn’t know how to use and care for the BBQs, and broken 2 BBQs within 3 years of period. Now, we have 2 electric hot plates instead, and can be taken to outdoor to use as BBQ style cooking if it is needed. We appreciate your feedback, may consider to get another BBQ if it is in high demand. Thanks again for your feedback, hope you will use WhisperingSand beach house often for your future holidays. Great location

Location was great with beach just over the road (a short stroll); however beach not safe for swimming, more so for adventuring with beautiful rock pools & building sandcastles. Wonthaggi being only a short 10 mins drive was handy to stock up on supplies (major supermarkets/Bunnings/Kmart/restaurants & cafes etc). The mouth of the Powlett River is a 5 min drive which is a perfect spot for kayaking(kids first time - absolutely perfect). Can do kayaking, SUP or just relax in the water. With huge sand dunes as a back drop, it was something magical. Kids enjoyed running up the sand dunes (a boogie board to ride down is a great idea)! Phillip Island only a 15min drive. Cape Paterson (for safe swimming) only 25min drive. The house layout could cater for two families who are comfortable (with eachother) to holiday with bedrooms & bathroom/toilet upstairs and downstairs with tvs, a/c and dining tables and a (small) kitchen (upstairs) to share. Great size garden for kids if having a quiet day at the house. We enjoyed our stay, spent everyday out adventuring. She was very helpful and offered a nice surprise of the ability to checkin a lot earlier than usual check in time and upon request happily let us check out later than usual 10am, which we were very grateful for. Property had not been cleaned properly

We did not enjoy our stay. Property had not been cleaned properly. Empty bottle of alcohol found next to the couch, obvious someone had slept on the couch, sand on the couch and pillows untidy. Used bathmat and toilet mat left, toilet not clean. Kitchen sink, bin lid tidy - etc.....Crumbs in cupboards. Unclean. I would never stay again. Grass not mowed, and BBQ need half hour clean before use. I took photos, and sent to owner , very disappointed. The Owner said the neighbour had checked the property I do not like the fact that the Owner relies on the previous guest to clean for the next guest. They should hire a cleaner to ensure the property is spotless for the next paying guest. We paid $300 per night for three nights. We travelled a long distance to find we needed to clean before we could stay.

Dear Ellen, I am very sorry that you have experienced a very out-of-ordinary situation, and understood your disappointment. As you recall, I was also surprised when you sent me the photos. I can ensure you that the property was checked and cleaned the day before your arrival. It was a mystery to all of us why the house condition changed suddenly. We have taken extra measures to ensure that this will not happen again. Again I am very sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay. The outdoor BBQ hasn’t been used throughout the winter. It must have some rust which we will get it polished. The garden grass is mowed regularly (every 2-3 weeks) by a contracted service, and was just mowed after your departure. I will try to get it mowed more frequently during the summer season. We are trying to accommodate all the needs from various guests with different tastes and our prices have been very competitive in the area, particularly for a large group of guests like your group. Your comments are important to us, and we will try to do our best to ensure our guests to have a pleasant stay.

Our stay at Whispering Sands was very pleasant, we were close to the pub, general store and the rail

Nice, small property for cozy stay

We were happy very happy with Sue. She was very efficient with her communication, and allowed us to check out a little later. House was walking distance to the shops and beach, and short drive to San Remo. Would be happy to go back again.

Nice spot to relax

An older two storey house but very clean and tidy. Not too far from the pub or the beach. We had a few wet days during our visit but managed to keep warm and cosy.
