This historic townhouse, built in 1872, is ideally located. It is within a leisurely 15 minute walk anywhere downtown, River St. or Forsyth Park. All of the best restaurants are in walking distance too, and there are many. The charming residential neighborhood is far enough away from the noisy parts of town so that you can get a great night's sleep. That makes The Globetrotter ideal for couples, families, and friend get-togethers who are looking to have a great time together in their own private space.

This classic historic townhouse has undergone a major restoration to bring the property up to HGTV's Joanna Gaines standards. Over 60K spent to completely upgrade the kitchen and bathrooms. The house is gorgeous! If you love Chip and Joanna Gaines on Fixer Upper you will love the look of our new renovations.

This fantastic 2 bedroom 2.5 bath townhouse sleeps 6 and has 1,252 square feet of living space. The 2 spacious bedrooms are upstairs and the comfortable living area is downstairs. Both levels have original heart pine wood floors, vintage fireplaces and moldings. There are six steps up from the street to reach the front door and a level parking pad in the back suitable for one vehicle. There is central heating and air (NO window units). Each bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed and a chest of drawers as well as a television. The front bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, vanity and commode. It has one of the two original decorative fireplaces with a uniquely painted antique mantel. The second bedroom, vintage of another era, has a similar bathroom with the access in the hallway. The sofa sleeper in the living room is a queen size. There is a cute half bath downstairs.

The open concept dining living area has original heart pine floors and another fireplace, that now is just decorative. The refinished floors, fireplace, and moldings reflect the historic charm of our home. However The Globetrotter is also well-equipped with free High-Speed Wi-Fi, cable TV, and Apple TV add on. Everyone has Wi-Fi, but we have a high-end router that allows everyone to attach their phones, tablets, and gaming devices to the network at the same time which is something cheaper routers simply can’t do. This is a great feature if you're in town doing work. There is a TV in each bedroom with its own cable controller as well as a huge 65” HDTV in the living room. This allows people to get some quiet time in their own space when they want to do so.

PLUS! You also have free use of our awesome $2000 massage chair. Get a full body massage for everyone in the privacy of our beautiful home. After you've explored your way around town and return home to The Globetrotter with weary achy muscles, relax and reflect while getting the added bonus of a massage.

The kitchen, with more Joanna Gaines design elements, is modern and completely outfitted. The stainless steel appliances include a dishwasher, 30-inch gas range, microwave, full sized refrigerator/freezer and a coffee maker, blender, crockpot, toaster, mixer and high quality tableware and dishware. You will not be eating on random plastic plates or trying to cut your meat with a Goodwill knife. We have even supplied spices, oil and cooking spray. There is a full-size Samsung front loading washer and dryer, and a full size propane gas grill on the back deck. These amenities are all great for long term stays or when your want to do your own cooking. We have had families do their entire Thanksgiving dinner here.

The Globetrotter has PRIVATE OFF STREET PARKING behind the hourse, enter on E. Macon St. The street parking in front of the house is free, you just have to be aware of street sweeping nights. Parking is a big deal in Savannah. The city is best explored as you walk and you don’t want to have to feed meters or worry about your car getting ticketed or towed while you are out exploring.

Our private porch and courtyard is perfect for outdoor relaxing. The courtyard is a secure area so your dog can join you. There is a gas grill and a table to seat four for outdoor dining.

We LOVE AND WELCOME DOGS, 2 dogs is our max. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any other pets. There is an extra fee for bringing dogs to accommodate the extra cleaning required after they leave. Our courtyard is private and secure and we have a dog park just a short walk from the property to get them some exercise. Savannah itself is extremely dog friendly. Many restaurants have outdoor seating and will bring water for your dog. Most shops allow your dogs to enter. But only you know whether your dog is well-behaved enough to be a good travel companion. Leaving them in a crate all day in the property is acceptable if the dog doesn't bark incessantly. Constant barking tends to cause neighbors to get annoyed. So be smart about it.

As well as being dog friendly we are people friendly. We provide clean, comfortable, fully renovated spaces so that you can fully enjoy your stay. Years ago Greg and I were trained as secret shoppers for the Ritz Carlton Hotel Chain. We learned to expect a level of cleanliness, comfort, and anticipation of needs that separates the best from all the rest. The key difference in a 5-star experience is not what most people think. Receiving thoughtful attentive service only reaches 4-stars. The last star is earned when you surprise your guests by meeting needs they didn’t even think they had. We pride ourselves on providing everything you need to relax and enjoy your time with us and a few delightful surprises that make it even better. There are several little touches we provide during your stay that our guests appreciate. We have deluxe linens and comfortable beds, iron/board, hair dryers, lotions, body wash, shampoo and cream rinse.

About June Alston

My husband and I are both pharmacists and spent the first 30+ years of our careers owning and operating drug stores. After selling our retail operations in 2007 Greg became a professor to teach management and business skills to pharmacy students and I became a quilter extraordinaire. He works now at the local pharmacy school and I quilt between guests and try not to spend too much on fabric.

We are dog lovers. We have always had dogs and found that boarding our dogs when we went on vacation was expensive and we didn't always get them back in healthy conditions. So when we decided to offer vacation rentals there was no question that we would find and restore dog friendly locations. The safety of your pet is just as important to us as your enjoyment of your stay. This location plus our location on Jones Street (VRBO # 878103) are both designed to allow you to Vacation with your canine family member.

Several years ago we worked as secret shoppers for the Ritz-Carlton hotel chain. We were trained on 5 star service and what to expect from a high quality Inn. We bring that expertise to our own vacation rental business.

Our retail experience working directly with patients has taught us many lessons. What we have learned from that experience is that customers don't want to buy from businesses they want to buy from people they like. They actually want to be treated like they are the only customer on earth. They want to know that every decision we make with our business is in the best interest of our customer and not designed to extract the last possible penny from each client.

We hate patronizing businesses that act like they are doing us a favor by letting us spend our money with them. I have found that the vacation rental business is not any different in that not every owner understands that this is a people business. We want you to have a great experience in Savannah. We will do everything we can to make sure that you get the most enjoyment out of your stay with us.

Savannah is the most walkable city in America. The terrain is flat and the famous historic downtown area is only about 12-from end to end in a leisurely 30 minutes stroll. Activity trackers should expect to get from 10 -15 thousands steps in per day. The scenery and ambiance changes block to blocks. Our Harris street Townhome was carefully selected to give you a quite and peaceful place to relax that is close enough to easily walk to all the main attractions. Being too close to River Street can work against you as the noise levels high and being too far south means you will need to Uber and Lyft to get to the river.

Phenomenal Home and Location!

June is a wonderful host. The Globetrotter is a beautiful and amazingly appointed home that invites relaxation. My sister and I vacationed in Savannah with the intent to explore morning to night but ended up hanging out at the Globetrotter for most of our stay just relaxing and enjoying the weather and patio. June goes above and beyond to provide all the little things that made the stay enjoyable and she was so welcoming upon our arrival. I can't say enough about how grateful I am that I chose the Globetrotter! We will be back! Thanks June!!!!

Best House in Savannah

This is the cutest house in all of Savannah. I stayed here for work and shared it with a co-worker. Everything is close by and easily walkable. The owner is a wonderful hostess and everything you could possibly need is at the house.

I can't wait to come back!!!

Beautiful place, outstanding owner

My wife and I booked this property. My father and his wife joined us as well. If you are interested in staying at a beautiful property that is within easy walking distance to downtown and the river, this is it. The house's decor was just beautiful. Very tasteful. June was incredibly helpful with restaurant and site seeing suggestions. The off street parking worked out well. Parking is a premium in Savannah. This property is also very close to the free bus that Savannah has, so getting around was a breeze. We plan on coming back to Savannah later this year, and this will be where we stay. Trust me you won't be disappointed, book this place today!

Beautiful Townhome with a wonderful host!

The Globetrotter was the perfect town-home to spend a long girls weekend in Savannah. June was incredibly kind, meeting us at the house upon check-in to show us around, she also provided many recommendations for breakfast, lunch & Dinner as well as places to see while we were in town. Her recommendations proved to be invaluable as we were able to use several of her restaurant recommendations along with the sties she recommended (and the shopping as well)! We couldn't be more thankful for June's hospitality over the course of the long weekend and for renting out her beautiful town home!

The house was originally just one bathroom upstairs and it had a weird bathtub configuration. SO we gutted that space and built two beautiful modern bathrooms so that each of the bedrooms would have its own private bath. Then we put in a brand new kitchen as well. This house was originally built in 1872 so it has been fun to put modern touches in to a classic setting. But the most fun has been getting to meet people from all over the world who have come to stay with us, I look forward to seeing you again soon. June

Immaculate, Cozy ,Bright, Exceeding Expectations,

This was our second stay here at "The Globtrotter" Home Away From Home Inn and we couldn't be happier. Our first stay was for almost 6 weeks right through Christmas of 2017. This Cozy home made us feel like we were in our own house. Our second stay was from Feb 26th thru March 11th of 2018. Once again we completely enjoyed our stay and was treated like family by June Alston the owner. If you are looking for a quiet place to live that is very close to all the action then this is the place for you. I walked every day to Historic Downtown through the miriad of little parks and street malls - each one unique and wonderful. For a truly Southern Treat don't look any further than this Unique "Under-priced" Gem. We felt so comfortable with the the whole situation that we are probably diverting our next years trip south to spend some time back here. There is no word to describe a place when you feel it's just fits everything that you could imagine............Wait......There is!........"The Globtrotter Inn". There are so many Vacation rental properties available in Savannah that people who have never stayed in one before may not understand some of the nuances that turn "a place to stay" into "a place you can call home" #1 Individual owners who are dedicated local operators give their properties more attention to detail than the typical property manager group. #2 Great owners keep their properties clean fully stocked and keep everything operational. Read other reviews and you will see simple things like having no toilet paper, paper towels kleenex, and basic kitchen supplies like sugar seasonings and coffee are frequent complaints. #3 Five Star service means getting you safely in to the property quickly, having parking available, providing high quality dishware and kitchen utensils, having all the small electrics you would expect in your own home, and having high quality bedding and linens. Nothing will ruin a vacation quicker than a dirty place with an uncomfortable bed in a place that is so noisy you can't even sleep. Both our properties are true 5 Star *****homes that allow you to relax and enjoy your stay. Hope to see you again soon, June

Savannah is a destination city. The historic district is famous for good food and beautiful outdoor spaces. Designed in 1733 the city has numerous squares and parks and is extremely dog friendly. The key to enjoying Savannah is walking. It is a wonderful city to walk to restaurants , bars, attractions, theater down shaded lanes and through lush squares. River street is where the action is with music, street fairs and paddle wheel cruises.
