About Robert and Robin Sain

Bob and Robin Sain are the owners of the Cabin along with their dogs, cats, birds, and horses. As ‘custodians’ of the Foust cabin we are dedicated to the restoration and preservation of it by minimizing the impact of providing conveniences of modern living for our guests. As we restored each cabin we took steps to ensure the original structural integrity of each cabin was retained as much as we could and still comply with local building codes.

Robert and Robin Sain purchased this cabin in 1994

Why Robert and Robin Sain chose Clinton

The Foust family cabin is unique as it is an artifact of the history of Appalachia that is rapidly disappearing. It has endured the passage of time for over 150 years if not longer. One of our primary goals is to preserve it so it may survive for many years to come. Robin and I view our ownership of this cabin as being temporary custodians until we pass it on to the next generation of owners. We want to use this time to collect as much information as we can about the history and background of the cabin and the families who lived in it.

What makes this cabin unique

Since we started offering guest accommodations in 2002, we have had hundreds of guests representing a variety of people and reasons for staying with us. The experiences we have gained over the years prompt us to level set our goals, interests, and expectations in order to assist you, as a potential guest, to decide if staying in our of our cabin aligns with our mutual expectations.

We want you, our guest, to understand what we offer:

• We offer safe, comfortable, and quiet accommodations - best suited for couples or small families.

• We seek guests who are looking for a unique place to stay and can appreciate and understand the historical significance of the Cabin.

• Our guests should show respect and care during their stay. This is a very old cabin and cannot be abused or marred as we seek to preserve it for future generations.

• Our guests should show the same respect and common courtesy as if they were staying in someone’s home. Clean up after yourself, pick up clothes, do not make a mess, leave a pile of dirty dishes in the sink, etc.

Things to consider before making a reservation:

We respect our guest's privacy and do not provide daily services. However, if there is anything our guests need or have questions, we are more than happy to assist.

• While we strive to make each guest comfortable, we are not a luxury resort. We respect our guest's privacy and do not provide daily services. However, if there is anything our guests need or you have any questions, we are more than happy to assist or provide what you need.

I love the cozy cabin, it had everything you needed..

The king size bed in the loft was very comfortable and the stairs were a pleasant surprise. The owners were very nice and helpful.

Peaceful and Perfect Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a gem! My boyfriend and I spent a wonderful long fall weekend here, and it was exactly what we needed to get away from our stressful city lives. Cozy, SO comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. We spent our days out hiking and then coming back to sit in the porch swing, and our nights cuddled up in front of the fireplace. Bob, the owner, let us know how to get in touch if we needed anything (and he showed up with extra firewood just when we needed it) but otherwise we were left to ourselves. We dream of coming back, as soon as we can. If what you are looking for is a quiet, cozy getaway away from it all, this is it.

Picturesque Perfection Log-Cabin Style

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful small cabin in the woods. It was a balm to stay here and build a fire in the fireplace at night. Robert and Robin are wonderful hosts, attentive and not intrusive. I loved sleeping in the comfy king bed in the loft at night after I banked the fire, with the residual heat rising up, lying cocooned in the feather comforter and soft blankets and with plenty of pillows, listening to the coals crackling, enjoying the absolute peace of the night. One night there was rain on the roof—so cozy. This place is a gem.

Peaceful step back in time

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time of staying at Foust Cabin. After our first stay, we looked forward to the next. Now we wait another year for vacation and plan for our return next fall. It is a beautiful cabin, quiet location and a good jumping off point for many interesting things to see and do. This was also our second time attending the Tennessee Fall Homecoming music and heritage festival, which we really enjoyed.
