'Whitesand' Beachfront House

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 6 - 12 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Guests at the Beachfront House will enjoy ocean and sunset views, cooling tradewinds, and the shade of the swaying palms that line the property. The large, partially shaded deck is ideal for outdoor dining, checking the surf, or soaking up the sun. In addition, a far deck is set at the lawn's edge with even better views of the Pacific Ocean. Across the 30 foot lawn, steps lead down to the miles and miles of white sand beach in either direction.

Perfect for three couples, a family (possibly two), or a group of friends, the 'Whitesand Beachfront House' is a cozy, peaceful retreat that sleeps up to eight. It is an incredible spot for the outdoor enthusiast, and the leisure buff.

The interior of the home is simple, yet luxurious. Most of the rooms are furnished with unique Hawaiian pieces, creating an exotic, yet modern environment. The kitchen was designed to be functional and spacious with a large island, top-of-line appliances, and easy-to-clean granite countertops. It opens into the living room and is often the focal point of activity - a great feature if you plan to eat in a lot.

The upstairs (master) bedroom is perfect for the small family, with a King siz bed and a Queen-size pull out bed as well as a private bath. The downstairs bedroom has a Queen-size bed. The third bedroom is a large 20' x 20' bedroom complete with King-size bed, and a Queen pull out bed, a private bath, kitchenette, and it's own entry door.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was the Best house I've ever stayed at on the North Shore. My family had a wonderful vacation.

Love the white sand beach in front of the house. We also loved the fact that there was a skateboard

park a short bike ride away. We'll be back every year. -- Dave

Perfect for two families! We loved our stay. Close to everything on the north shore side & not too far from Waikiki. House had everything we needed to feel like home. Thank you!

Location, location, location!

  • 4 of 5

Thank you Pete and Gene for a wonderful stay! We had a family stay with 2 children, my husband and I, as well as my mom. The proximity to the almost deserted beach (in comparison with nearby beaches!) was priceless. We are definitely planning on coming back to this spot on the awesome north shore! The beach house is literally on the beach, but more in particular on a beach between Shark's Cove and Sunset Beach. We loved the open concept of the house with the backyard, and spent a lot of time on the viewing deck! The bikes were worn, but a couple of them worked perfectly for rides on the bike path and to the bakery. There was lots of great snorkeling gear, an ice chest, and shade tent. No toys for kids, but we bought some, and donated boogie boards and sand toys after our departure ( hope that was okay!). We cooked and grilled delicious meals in the kitchen and on the grill! The only downfall was the dated washer went out halfway through our trip, and we only packed to do laundry...and couldn't do laundry until our last day. Gene was very nice and apologetic for this inconvenience. The master bedroom was spacious and had a fantastic view! The large studio lacked a/c (was quite toasty) and could use a small refrigerator to complete its kitchenette. Another small issue that wasn't mentioned in previous reviews was the noise from Kamehameha Hwy. The studio room was especially loud with windows open when trying to cool down without a/c. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to book this rental. The location, house, amenities, etc. were all worth it!!!! We stayed 10 days...and we didn't want to leave! Aloha and mahalo!

Relaxing vacation away from the crowds

  • 5 of 5

I will say that my first vacation to Hawaii was amazing and a big part of that was choosing to stay in this house on the North Shore. I would stay there in a heartbeat again. Any trip to Oahu I take in the future will probably be at this house. I highly recommend the North Shore over Honolulu/Waikiki any day. The owner thought of a lot to make the experience better. A grill with propane in on site. Tons of snorkel gear available, lots of beach toys, a beach tent, chairs, coolers, bikes, etc are available. Towels, detergent, ice, etc. You don't have to buy a lot to stay here other than your food. The biggest issue we had is the app had the address incorrect by about 4 houses so it took a while to find the right house because you can't see the house very easily. We figured it out though and I let the owner know who seems quick to want to get it corrected. My only suggestion to make this experience perfect would be to update some minor things around the house. The bikes are older, some of the snorkel gear is old(we had enough of new stuff for us though), 3 of the 6 beach chairs are really old, the washer/dryer are older, the grill is older but usable, some of the items in bathroom need replaced from the windows always being open(towel racks, shower bar and hooks, etc). I would've thought for the money we spent that some of those items would be very new or in great shape. HOWEVER, it was still an amazing house and I will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone. Don't spend the same amount of money to constantly fight the crowds of Honolulu and share a beach with thousands of people. We shared over a mile of beach with probably 20 people. You can walk out your backdoor and be in the water in under a minute. It's so much more peaceful and relaxing here. Highly recommend sharks cove, the food trucks, downtown Hailewa. Do your souvenir shopping at Aloha stadium on Sat, Sun, or Wed. GET the GoOahu card! We saved so much money and did so many different experiences with that card! Watch the sunsets from the amazing beach deck on site(my reason for booking and favorite part of the trip). Thanks Pete for an awesome experience! We appreciate the chance to stay here.

The property and home were beautiful and spacious! The views were spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

The home worked well for our two families. My husband and I arrived a few days before our daughter, her husband and their 3 small children. We enjoyed the comfort of the upstairs master with A/C before they arrived, then they used the upstairs with the grandchildren which was more suitable for them. We then moved to the separate room/apartment above the garage where we relied on fans and trade winds to keep cool. We were usually in the main house or out during the day so the fans and open windows worked fine. The apartment was a good size with a bed, sofa sleeper, 2 chairs, own bathroom, tub and shower. It could accommodate a small fridge and kitchen items-but didn't. Access to the apt was outside the main home about 10-12 steps from one door to the other. Not really a big deal, probably just more annoying for me since we're used to locking our "home" and I would always have to remember the keys.

It was really nice to have A/C in the main spacious living room and adjoining kitchen area as well, when needed. There was an extra bedroom in the main house we didn't use or really need. There was a small armwaire with drawers in that room, but my clothes were too large to hang and I didn't feel there was a place to put luggage except on the floor which I didn't like. Pete, may I suggest getting a couple luggage stands? I'm sure they would be appreciated by your next renters. :-)

It was nice to have the washer and dryer. Plenty of bath towels, but only 7 beach towels for the 7 of us. They were not able to provide more, so we spent a little more time doing laundry.

We enjoyed the BBQ on the deck a couple evenings and would have done more of that had we not had a family emergency come up.

There were bikes, two boogie boards, some masks and snorkel gear for use which was handy. All of which were geared more for adults or older children. Not many toys at all for our little ones to use (ages 2-7). There were a handful of very used beach toys. We had to buy our own.

All in all, it was a beautiful place to stay. Pete and Gene, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us! We would love to come back and rent your home again and would recommend this home for even three couples or a larger family. Mahalo!
