***Old homes and antiques are not for everyone. This house is full of antiques including antique dolls.***
Located on Cora St, one of the most charming and historic streets in town, Alte Friedrichsburg doesn't disappoint in telling the history of early 1900's Fredericksburg. Lavishly decorated with native German settler antiquities, this is one not to be missed by aficionados of history and unparalleled elegance. Arriving at the home, you can't help but be immediately charmed by its cheerful pale blue paint and inviting front porch. However, these two aspects are just a taste of the wonders that await you inside. Branching off from a pleasant foyer, to the left you'll find a resplendent parlor occupied by opulent seating, a lavish oversized rug, and handsome historic oak flooring while to the right lies the first bedroom, appropriately named “the honeymoon suite,” that features a grandiose full tester bed complimented by the oak floors continued from the parlor and foyer. Further in are a lovely second bedroom with an ornate wooden headboard and a second seating area that is a bit less formal than the parlor but just as exquisitely furnished. Both bathrooms in the home feature desirable gray stone floors with one featuring a romantic clawfoot tub with handheld shower and the other a modern walk-in shower. The true gem of the home though has to be the spectacular dining room. A grand oak table with seating for 8 is encircled by exceptional wooden display cabinets brimming with delicate crystal and polished silver that is certain to make each meal a special occasion.
Alte Friedrichsburg had the distinction of being selected as one of seven homes to take part in the 60th Christmas Home Tour & Market on December 2nd, 2017.
Things to be aware of: 1. The second bedroom does not have doors on it. 2. While the home does have modern conveniences including central air & heat, internet, and television, the home is decorated in the theme of an early 20th century home and, as a result, is very different than what most of people would be used to in their own homes.

We liked the fact that it was close to Main Street, so that we could walk anywhere we wanted to go. However, we did not enjoy this house as much as others. I felt that every time we walked, the very packed furniture pieces and decorations began to shake, making us worried that something would fall.
I would have loved to have a box of Kleenex and a throw/lap blanket, as the mornings were chilly. We always enjoy our time in Fredericksburg, but this just wasn't the right house for us.

This house was disgusting. It smelled of mold, had mold on the walls and a/c vents. In the short amount of time we spent in the house, we had trouble breathing from the mold. We walked in, inspected the house and left. It wasn't worth risking our health. Cluttered and dusty. The pictures are very misleading.
If you’re in to Victorian style this is a good place to experience it . I enjoyed every room and the two nights there. I did not even leave the whole time I was there it was so much to explore.
The house was beautifully furnished and very interesting. The Triebs were very accommodating and lovely people. Our honeymoon was perfect! We will be back for sure!
Property was not clean and I did not feel comfortable keeping my wife and daughter there so I purchased a separate place at my expense. Property manager requested photos but I had left. I did not receive refund but was worth the comfort for my family
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! There were some issues with the A/C, but the property owners/managers responded quickly, had it fixed and refunded us for a portion of our stay.

Amazing Period Home
Amazing historical home fully kitted out in the period.
Also fantastic touches by the hosts - strawberries, milk, muffins, bread, etc.
In a word..."Ghastly". This is not a home to be rented. It is a circa 1970's Curio, Antique and Junk Shop, owned by a hoarder, with 3 to 4 times too much furniture it in. Lots of dust and dirt. There is not one comfortable place to sit. Backyard is a disaster, very poor maintenance. We like antiques, but this is ridiculous. I can't say "No" too strongly.

Just so cute!
This place is so cute! It has all these great decorations and little hidden gems. Also the snacks for breakfast and the stocked fridge were awesome. We had to cut our visit short due to weather but the service at Gastehaus was also great in this regard. We hope to stay at Alte again...in warmer weather! We highly recommend this place!
We stayed here for a girls’ weekend and loved it! We all love history and enjoyed looking at everything displayed in the home. We were comfortable and enjoyed sitting in the parlor in the evening. We all wish we had stayed one extra day to do nothing but explore every nook and cranny because there was so much to see!

Alte Friederichsburg
This was a very nice and all the Antiques that were inside were amazing with a lot of history. As for the location only about 3 1/2 blocks for Main Street was great to enjoy the short walk to watch the Christmas parade and see all the lights at the MarkePlatz again this year and our guest with us really enjoyed it.

Fredericksburg getaway
This was an old house, full of old furniture, and smelled like it. Beautiful furnishings, but way too much of it. Every armoire, chest and closet was full of old shoes, hats and clothes, so there was no place to put our stuff. The furniture was very uncomfortable, except for the beds which were fine. If you love antiques, and are charmed by old houses, this is the house for you.

Wonderful!
I booked this house as a girl weekend getaway for my best friend's 40th birthday. We are both major history buffs and I wanted to make this a special trip for her. This house was beyond what we could hope for and we both absolutely loved exploring all of the little details placed throughout this historic home. The staff was amazing and super friendly and always willing to answer any questions we had. Thank you for helping me make this such a memorable weekend!
If you remove the a/c and electric, the house transports you back to the early 1900's. Beautiful antique furniture in the house, along with an abundance of period pieces.
If you are looking to go back to the early 1900's, then this is the place for you!

Lovely home with
Lovely home with wonderful antiques. Hosts were very accommodating and kind. One criticism would be lack of space for guests to settle in. Every counter, drawer or closet was filled with antiques which left no space for our clothes, toiletries etc. Enjoyed back patio space and nesting cardinals!

Girl’s Weekend
The property is unique and very interesting. Some beautiful pieces of furniture and dinner ware. But cluttered and dusty. The yard and porches could be lovely but they were dirty and cluttered. We did appreciate the authenticity of the property. Thank you for letting us explore your home
