Overview

About the property

Close to everything, yet private makes this a perfect base for your retreat.

The Copper Turtle is low-key, elegant – have a good time, feel comfortable. Open floor plan, lots of space both inside and out. The first thing that everyone notices as they walk in the front door is the really large open space, with an amazing side to side full view of the ocean, blue skies, clouds and dive boats bobbing.

At the Copper Turtle we have 160 feet of lovely beachfront on the quiet North side of the Brac; our sweetest feature is the full screened-in porch that runs the length of the beach side. On the right is the hammock, from which to watch the butterflies and dragonflies flitting across the flowers, in the middle are Adirondack chairs and a table, to watch the lightning show from tropical clouds running up against the mountains of Cuba (50 miles north), on the left is the outdoor dining table, the place to set up a laptop, answer some quick e-mails, watching dive boats bobbing off shore in front of you.

The 32’ fiberglass pool was installed in 2016 and is truly amazing. State of the art copper ionizer eliminates the need of chlorine, and the deck elevation provides the perfect spot to watch the sunsets.

The master bedroom is large, large enough that the king size bed looks oddly small in it, French doors open out to the porch area so the tropical breezes blow through in the evening. Off the bedroom is a large marble bathroom, with "his" and "her" sinks, a rain shower and three bay windows looking out, yet again, over the sea in front.

On the other side of the house are two more bedrooms. The “Ocean Room” is done up in blue and white, with its own seating area, opening out to the hammock section of the porch, the ocean in the background. The “Garden Room” is all in red, brown and green, the leaves of tropical trees breaking up the sunshine. Both rooms have ceiling fans and window AC units, share a bathroom.

In between the two sets of bedrooms is a really large living space that combines an open kitchen, dining and living room. Oversized fan, Samsung Home Entertainment system, dining area for eight, with a massive sectional couch right in the middle for enjoying movies or the view across the water. The sectional couch can be opened into a queen size bed.

Outside… the rinse-tank area with separate tanks for gears and cameras. On the right hand side of the house is the kayak, with paddles underneath. On the beach in front is a picnic table for dining while catching the last rays of the day. Plus a wooden bench precisely placed so as to get the maximum possible beauty from the sun setting over Little Cayman, off in the distance, the last plane of the day coming in in slow motion, silhouetted against the clouds – our favorite place to watch the sun set.

The airport is a 10-15 minute walk from the house, the super market 20 minutes. PLEASE SEE THE LAST PHOTO FOR EXACT PROPERTY LOCATION. The location that this application provides is a little off - we ARE right on the beach!

The absolute best snorkeling on the island (we've tried 'em all) is the “Fish Bowl” directly off the beach from the house – schools of chub, grunts, snappers, turtles passing through, scorpionfish, filefish, trumpetfish and just to the side is a resident school of squid (no promises!) and if you’re patient and lucky, there’s an octopus hanging out too. Strap on some gear and stroll on in.

In the “Activity Closet” are the vests for the kayak, several sets of snorkel gear, a beach volleyball plus some picnic blankets. In the kitchen pantry are the barbecue tools for the grill on the beach, plus coolers and such. The kitchen itself has a complete set of dishes, cutlery and stuff plus a new 5 burner stove, new fridge, new coffee maker. We love to cook and spend about half of the year here, so you will most likely find everything you may need to make a delicious meal or bake a cake. When things get dirty use the dishwasher or the laundry room + the clothesline on the side of the house. AC throughout.

About Natalia Stavisky

We fell in love with the Copper Turtle and the Brac the first time we visited. Kept coming back until we managed to buy the Turtle for ourselves. We love the lifestyle on the Brac, quiet, safe, relaxed, people still wave to you as you drive by, not a single stop light on the island. Liked it so much we got married here, now we're living part-time, making it available for others the rest of the time.

Natalia Stavisky purchased this house in 2016

Why Natalia Stavisky chose Cayman Brac

It is spacious and beautiful, your soul flies like a kite in the wind from the moment you step in and see the ocean view spread across the entire back wall.

What makes this house unique

The best snorkeling on the island is in front of our home, you can walk to the airport (it's halfway to the supermarket). Lots of space to relax, unwind, set up your gear. Lots of comfy furniture, sun and shade.

The Gem of Caymen Brac is the Copper Turtle

  • 5 of 5

The Copper Turtle and Cayman Brac offered us an extraordinary experience of vast ocean views, the sound of pounding surf and complete privacy. Even better, was the luxury of floating in the crystal clear waters of their new pool, while overlooking the Caribbean and stargazing at night.

The home shows pride of ownership. Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen and a huge screened in porch to view the rich colors of the sea. Copper Turtle is immaculate and well stocked with little extras that make you feel special.

Working directly the owners of Copper Turtle was delightful. They assisted us with scheduling, stocking the fridge and responded promptly to any questions we had.

We highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing views and a charming, unique and relaxing atmosphere.

Wonderful place on a wonderful island!

  • 5 of 5

I honestly can’t say enough about this vacation property on the Brac. Firstly, I need to say that Natalia was so easy to deal with and helped out in every way that she could. The house is very comfortable, has everything needed for a stay in paradise and spacious. The property has quite a few trees which give much needed shade and this makes it possible to be outside at any time of the day, evening or night. Just outside the screened in porch (wonderful in itself) is the pool...an amazing addition to this property and a great place to spend lazy afternoons. We also appreciated the Dive Shed with its rinse tanks and sturdy hangers for drying gear out of direct sunlight. This property is in a wonderful location for many reasons...north side of the island which seems cooler, close to many great dive sites, snorkeling sites, markets, airport, restaurants...and yet feels very quiet and isolated. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, soap, etc. We never used the dryer as there are great drying lines on the west side of the house to hang laundry, wet towels and swim suits. Loved this! We had a wonderful stay at the Copper Turtle and would more than happily come back. Wonderful place on a wonderful island!!

Fantastic house, great views and close to things you need.

  • 5 of 5

We had a family of 6 that stayed at this house during August and had a great time. a lot of time was spent in the pool and the screened in porch. The pool is so relaxing and we loved the fact that the deep end is 7'0" so you can completely submerge underwater. The screened in porch is huge, it is almost the full width of the house. This area of the island is one of the few areas with sand beach that you can walk on. Note that past a few feet in the water their are sharp rocks and sturdy shoes should be used when going into the water. After diving they have a nice setup of dunk tanks and hangers outside for your scuba gear. We have stayed on the south side before and preferred this location as we were closer to things and didn't have any loss of privacy. Highly Recommend and we will definitely be coming back.

Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Copper Turtle! We especially loved the snorkeling right behind the house (wear water shoes - the urchins are everywhere and the rocks are sharp!) and laying by the pool watching the sun go down in the evenings. The kitchen was well stocked with spices/pots and pans, etc so cooking every day was quite enjoyable! We took Natalia's suggestion and booked a few dives with one of the local scuba shops and had an incredible time. We are already looking forward to planning our next trip to Cayman Brac!

Copper Turtle is rare jewel. One of our best life time experiences!

  • 4 of 5

What we wanted was time together with peace and quiet. No late night parties or riotous night clubs. The ambiance of the island and your gracious home provided the best of our expectations for comfort and tranquility.

Stand out experiences are, one, the always friendly and helpful people of the island. We arrived late (weather delays) and tired from a day of travel. Your Sandra was there to meet us and guided us through the rain to "home". Another evening invited to throw some darts at Barracuda's, another day visited with a city engineer, also met the airport manager, Miguel Martin, and was invited to visit the tower to observe control operations, talked with the construction folks at the new house next door, met Alan, shared a beer, and learned to vacuum the pool. And, two, (best of all!) the absolute beauty of the ocean viewed from your pool deck. Most of our island time was at "home" cooking, really appreciate a full kitchen, some casual reading, thanks for sharing A Short History of Bosnia, and couldn't get enough of your beautiful ocean vista.

Other visitors did not leave the kitchen as pristine as Penelope keeps hers. The stove and some cooking pans needed some extra attention. With that we tried to leave your home in a cared for an appreciated condition. Did not turn on the AC and did not have time use your TV.

Thanks, with great appreciation, for providing a wonderful vacation experience. For folks with an appetite like ours we would absolutely recommend Copper Turtle. Thank you Alek and Natalia for sharing you home with us, Donald & Penelope Seaver

Owner's Response: So glad to hear that you had a wonderful experience on your first visit to the Brac. And it looks like you got accepted as the "locals" into the island scene ;-) . We'll make sure the pots and stove are perfectly spotless for your next stay! Best regards, Natalia

Cayman Brac - (share only with friends)

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the “Copper Turtle” was fabulous. The island of Cayman Brac is beautiful and friendly and quiet which is what we were looking for. It is a bit off the beaten path but you avoid the hassels off the other busy islands. The owners Natalia and Alek were helpful from the start and everything was just as shown on the website and in some ways even better, even the welcome “manual” had everything. The house has a very open feel and everything you could possibly need. The new pool was a big highlight. The ocean is right there too but it getting into it requires balance and water socks, however if you just go down the road a few hundred yards there is a perfect ocean entry point with a ladder so balance and water socks is not required. The view from the ocean side of the house is not just water; you can see Little Cayman and the sun sets directly in that direction too; very nice! The house is perfectly set up for “divers” (which we were not) and it seemed that the dive boats all made anchor right out front about 300-400 yards off the shore. We confirmed this to be a great spot by snorkeling from the ladder access and being able to directly view the wreck of a destroyer ship and these views were great, we can imagine how much better they would be if diving. So if you are diver just go in the back yard. They even have wash bins and outdoor showers for you divers. We would recommend this property to anyone that wants to just relax and if you dive relax after that.

Thanks Natalia – Bruce and Sue – 5/17

Owner's Response: Hi Bruce and Sue, Greatly appreciate your review, and very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. And snorkeled to the destroyer wreck - wow! We love that site, and there are so many different fish hanging around the wreck there, even a resident turtle, and all can be seen from the surface too!
