About the property

Close to everything, yet private makes this a perfect base for your retreat.

The Copper Turtle is low-key, elegant – have a good time, feel comfortable. Open floor plan, lots of space both inside and out. The first thing that everyone notices as they walk in the front door is the really large open space, with an amazing side to side full view of the ocean, blue skies, clouds and dive boats bobbing.

At the Copper Turtle we have 160 feet of lovely beachfront on the quiet North side of the Brac; our sweetest feature is the full screened-in porch that runs the length of the beach side. On the right is the hammock, from which to watch the butterflies and dragonflies flitting across the flowers, in the middle are Adirondack chairs and a table, to watch the lightning show from tropical clouds running up against the mountains of Cuba (50 miles north), on the left is the outdoor dining table, the place to set up a laptop, answer some quick e-mails, watching dive boats bobbing off shore in front of you.

The 32’ fiberglass pool was installed in 2016 and is truly amazing. State of the art copper ionizer eliminates the need of chlorine, and the deck elevation provides the perfect spot to watch the sunsets.

The master bedroom is large, large enough that the king size bed looks oddly small in it, French doors open out to the porch area so the tropical breezes blow through in the evening. Off the bedroom is a large marble bathroom, with "his" and "her" sinks, a rain shower and three bay windows looking out, yet again, over the sea in front.

On the other side of the house are two more bedrooms. The “Ocean Room” is done up in blue and white, with its own seating area, opening out to the hammock section of the porch, the ocean in the background. The “Garden Room” is all in red, brown and green, the leaves of tropical trees breaking up the sunshine. Both rooms have ceiling fans and window AC units, share a bathroom.

In between the two sets of bedrooms is a really large living space that combines an open kitchen, dining and living room. Oversized fan, Samsung Home Entertainment system, dining area for eight, with a massive sectional couch right in the middle for enjoying movies or the view across the water. The sectional couch can be opened into a queen size bed.

Outside… the rinse-tank area with separate tanks for gears and cameras. On the right hand side of the house is the kayak, with paddles underneath. On the beach in front is a picnic table for dining while catching the last rays of the day. Plus a wooden bench precisely placed so as to get the maximum possible beauty from the sun setting over Little Cayman, off in the distance, the last plane of the day coming in in slow motion, silhouetted against the clouds – our favorite place to watch the sun set.

The airport is a 10-15 minute walk from the house, the super market 20 minutes. PLEASE SEE THE LAST PHOTO FOR EXACT PROPERTY LOCATION. The location that this application provides is a little off - we ARE right on the beach!

The absolute best snorkeling on the island (we've tried 'em all) is the “Fish Bowl” directly off the beach from the house – schools of chub, grunts, snappers, turtles passing through, scorpionfish, filefish, trumpetfish and just to the side is a resident school of squid (no promises!) and if you’re patient and lucky, there’s an octopus hanging out too. Strap on some gear and stroll on in.

In the “Activity Closet” are the vests for the kayak, several sets of snorkel gear, a beach volleyball plus some picnic blankets. In the kitchen pantry are the barbecue tools for the grill on the beach, plus coolers and such. The kitchen itself has a complete set of dishes, cutlery and stuff plus a new 5 burner stove, new fridge, new coffee maker. We love to cook and spend about half of the year here, so you will most likely find everything you may need to make a delicious meal or bake a cake. When things get dirty use the dishwasher or the laundry room + the clothesline on the side of the house. AC throughout.

About Natalia Stavisky

We fell in love with the Copper Turtle and the Brac the first time we visited. Kept coming back until we managed to buy the Turtle for ourselves. We love the lifestyle on the Brac, quiet, safe, relaxed, people still wave to you as you drive by, not a single stop light on the island. Liked it so much we got married here, now we're living part-time, making it available for others the rest of the time.

Natalia Stavisky purchased this house in 2016

Why Natalia Stavisky chose Cayman Brac

It is spacious and beautiful, your soul flies like a kite in the wind from the moment you step in and see the ocean view spread across the entire back wall.

What makes this house unique

The best snorkeling on the island is in front of our home, you can walk to the airport (it's halfway to the supermarket). Lots of space to relax, unwind, set up your gear. Lots of comfy furniture, sun and shade.

The Gem of Caymen Brac is the Copper Turtle

  • 5 of 5

The Copper Turtle and Cayman Brac offered us an extraordinary experience of vast ocean views, the sound of pounding surf and complete privacy. Even better, was the luxury of floating in the crystal clear waters of their new pool, while overlooking the Caribbean and stargazing at night.

The home shows pride of ownership. Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen and a huge screened in porch to view the rich colors of the sea. Copper Turtle is immaculate and well stocked with little extras that make you feel special.

Working directly the owners of Copper Turtle was delightful. They assisted us with scheduling, stocking the fridge and responded promptly to any questions we had.

We highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing views and a charming, unique and relaxing atmosphere.

Return Visit To Copper Turtle

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our visit to Copper Turtle on Cayman Brac. The best testimonial I can give a destination is that we are repeat guests. This was our second visit to Copper Turtle in a year and the house was better than ever with several improvements. As with our first visit, Ms. Sandra the house manager, had Copper Turtle spotlessly clean. Natalia and Alek added a deck to the front of Copper Turtle and a walkway from the house to the pool.

As mentioned in an earlier review, Copper Turtle and Cayman Brac is a wonderful destination for those looking for a laid back atmosphere. The island is very safe and the folks are so friendly. Everything is nearby to Copper Turtle including the airport, grocery store, and several restaurants. We rented a car from CB Rentals and the folks from the agency were waiting on us when we landed.

If you are a diver this is a perfect location. The dive operators and dive sites are minutes away. Becky and I enjoy snorkeling and the entry point for the MV Captain Keith Tibbetts is just 5 minutes away. Other entry points are scattered throughout the island. The coral on Cayman Brac is still pristine and various ocean critters are plentiful.

If you want a nice relaxing and quiet destination away from the crowds, Copper Turtle and Cayman Brac is definitely an option. Great sunrises and sunsets just outside your door on the beach or in the pool. Hopefully, we can make it back soon to stay at Copper Turtle.

Great pool, private setting, but house needs some TLC.

  • 4 of 5

Some things we absolutely loved, a few we didn't. To be fair, we will mention both. Windows give an amazing view. We LOVED the screened porch, especially hammock. We spent a lot of time out there. We LOVED the pool! It was our favorite thing. The steps & sitting ledge are great. It was very clean. The owners were very easy to work with. Emails were answered promptly. They provide a lot of valuable info. The property managers were courteous & helpful. We are not divers, but snorkelers. We went with the idea of easily being able to snorkel. The wind was very strong, but no one can control that. We were told it was unusually windy. There were a lot of days, it was impossible to go snorkeling due to that. Even on calmer days, we found it impossible to get in the water at our beach. The beach is all rocks, and after getting into the water, there is a lot of jagged, sharp rock, and many sea urchins. So between all that, my husband only went in twice, and the second time cut his leg. We did manage to find a few other spots that were easier for getting in/out, but overall, most of the beaches are all rocks. That being said, we should've done our homework better for a suitable location for our needs. There were a few things in the house that we didn't like. The stove & surrounding counter were not clean. Other rooms were though. Even though owners warn about ants, & we kept everything sealed & clean, we still got them in the kitchen trash bad one time, & they came here & there throughout the rest of our stay. That bothered us. We met another VRBO owner that said they had the same problem, but once they started having a service do regular spraying, it was no longer a problem, so possibly the owners could look at. The French doors adjacent to screen porch were in very bad shape. We used only one the whole time we were there, but, it made a lot of noise, and stuck every time, which made it inconvenient. A lot of the other ones we couldn't even open, including the master suite. We wanted to open them & get breezes coming through, & were not able to do that, so it was disappointing. About a week into our stay, the master bath septic backed up into the shower drain, & we were unable to use that bathroom until it got fixed. Fortunately, we were able to use the other bathroom. We were told, & understand that the septic system there is delicate, but maybe something else needs to be done to fix it better. Overall, we had a wonderfully relaxing vacation.

Wonderful place on a wonderful island!

  • 5 of 5

I honestly can’t say enough about this vacation property on the Brac. Firstly, I need to say that Natalia was so easy to deal with and helped out in every way that she could. The house is very comfortable, has everything needed for a stay in paradise and spacious. The property has quite a few trees which give much needed shade and this makes it possible to be outside at any time of the day, evening or night. Just outside the screened in porch (wonderful in itself) is the amazing addition to this property and a great place to spend lazy afternoons. We also appreciated the Dive Shed with its rinse tanks and sturdy hangers for drying gear out of direct sunlight. This property is in a wonderful location for many reasons...north side of the island which seems cooler, close to many great dive sites, snorkeling sites, markets, airport, restaurants...and yet feels very quiet and isolated. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, soap, etc. We never used the dryer as there are great drying lines on the west side of the house to hang laundry, wet towels and swim suits. Loved this! We had a wonderful stay at the Copper Turtle and would more than happily come back. Wonderful place on a wonderful island!!

Owner's Response: We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much! Yes, Brac and the North shore is a very special, rustic and welcoming place. Great for divers and just about anyone who wants to take a break from civilization. Hope to have you as our guests in the future again.

Fantastic house, great views and close to things you need.

  • 5 of 5

We had a family of 6 that stayed at this house during August and had a great time. a lot of time was spent in the pool and the screened in porch. The pool is so relaxing and we loved the fact that the deep end is 7'0" so you can completely submerge underwater. The screened in porch is huge, it is almost the full width of the house. This area of the island is one of the few areas with sand beach that you can walk on. Note that past a few feet in the water their are sharp rocks and sturdy shoes should be used when going into the water. After diving they have a nice setup of dunk tanks and hangers outside for your scuba gear. We have stayed on the south side before and preferred this location as we were closer to things and didn't have any loss of privacy. Highly Recommend and we will definitely be coming back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Copper Turtle! We especially loved the snorkeling right behind the house (wear water shoes - the urchins are everywhere and the rocks are sharp!) and laying by the pool watching the sun go down in the evenings. The kitchen was well stocked with spices/pots and pans, etc so cooking every day was quite enjoyable! We took Natalia's suggestion and booked a few dives with one of the local scuba shops and had an incredible time. We are already looking forward to planning our next trip to Cayman Brac!
