For our Maine vacation we wanted to stay in a single-family residence, as opposed to a condo or motel, and we wanted to stay in Maine for at least a week. With this criteria, I researched “Cabins and Cottages” on the coast of Maine. We were particularly interested in the coastal area between Brunswick and Bar Harbor Maine. Like others who travel to Maine, we wanted to experience the natural beauty of the lush green countryside, the awesome presence of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the rocky coast, the coastal lighthouse network, the quaint lobster fishing villages, and exposure to the antique presence for which Maine is famous. And while in Maine, we did not want to miss delicious lobster meals. A great secondary benefit to such a vacation as this is the solitude and peaceful environment this area of Maine provides.
“Suite Thyme” met all of our criteria for a trip to Maine. It is a clean, extremely well maintained carriage house sixty yards from the rocky coast, with a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean, and small rocky islands. It is without question one of the most peaceful, and beautiful places my wife and I have ever stayed. Leave the windows open at night and enjoy the sounds of waves crashing onto the rocky coast. Get up in the morning and view one of the most beautiful views any vacation could ever offer. Just miles down the road, is Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, an American icon made famous in pictures and paintings. Just down the street is a lobster-fishing village, New Harbor, Maine, where you can enjoy fresh lobster at Sara’s. You can sit at the outdoor porch and watch your supper come into port on the lobster boats. This location offers not only a peaceful setting, but also is in great proximity to other Maine towns and villages. All of the attractions, which might prompt you to take a vacation to Maine, are within a short drive of Suite Thyme, and yet, you still have the serenity of this rental every night.
This rental, for us, embodies all the experiences, which we wanted during a visit to Maine. An added benefit was to meet John and Marilyn Darack, the owners of “Suite Thyme”. They are very nice people who we want to get to know better in the future. All we can say is, “What a great vacation we had at Suite Thyme!”
