Great little place!

  • 5 of 5

A nice little home in wonderful Bruges.

The only complaint is that the stairs are too narrow (so be cautious) and the neighbor liked to play violin all the time which you could hear when indoors.

Despite that, rent a bike in town as it makes the commute to the shops and attractions much more pleasant!

Great Personality, Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

Just wanted to include a review of this great property. It's a charming little house that our family really enjoyed during our visit to Bruges. It's location is excellent - easy walking to the center of town, even with our 8 year old. Every morning, we woke up early and walked to the bakery to buy fresh bread and croissants! I'd read the other reviews and while I had some concerns about the stairs and parking, it was not an issue for us. The stairs are very step and might be a problem for younger children, but my 8 year old was fine. Also, the gentlemen who showed us the property explained exactly where to park. We were able to unload right in front of the house and then move the car to the recommended area (a few minute walk for my husband). The location was also convenient for touring the WWI sites in France and Belgium. We did manage to lock ourselves out of the house once (despite warnings), but the gentlemen who manages the property was there to help us out ten minutes later!!

Perfect for families

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this home. I understand the concern about the staircase, but we stayed here with a 2 and 4 year old without any trouble. We simply moved some chairs in front of the staircase depending on what floor we were spending time on to ensure our 2 year old didn't attempt the stairs on his own.

Great location. Short walk to all the sights, but yet quiet enough to feel relaxed. Traditional Flemish architectural details made it feel like our accommodation was part of our cultural immersion.

One thing to confirm prior to booking is the wifi. It wasn't working (nor was the television) for the duration of our stay, which made planning our outings and activities challenging. I'm guessing it was just a temporary problem, but do confirm that it is working prior to booking. The owner was kind enough to let us borrow some DVDs so we had a little bit of entertainment in the evenings while our kids were sleeping. There were some pamphlets and brochures about things to do in the area that helped us as well, since we couldn't research that stuff during our stay.

Good location, Nice owner

  • 4 of 5

The location is good and the owner is very nice. He told us that there was street parking just 4 or 5 blocks from the home. I parked my new car on the street for 5 days and it was completely OK. It's a little bit of a walk to the city center but it's a very nice walk with several restaurants and cafes along the way. The steps upstairs to the bedrooms are VERY steep so be warned. I would stay here again.

Owner's Response: The house is located in the historical center of Bruges. If one choses to define the Markt as "city center" ( there are centers of interest all over Bruges making it such a wonderful experience) , the house is at about 7 walk, but of course one may take more time and stop at one of the cozy cafés or restaurants on the way, or sit near the charming canals. The stairs are typical in Bruges and built according to the belgian building prescriptions. The stairs are turning 90° and thus less steep towsards the wall/railing and more steep towards the center.

A Gem in Brugge

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The house was close to amenities but still located on a quiet road, and had a delightful bakery down the street. They had very large rooms with spacious beds and nice decorations set up for Christmas. There is also a very pretty inner courtyard eating area which would be lovely when it's warmer.
