Summary:
Built circa 1926 and originally owned by the Stelzig family of the famed leather and saddlery business, this unit is on the second floor of a 4-plex set on a unique brick street in the heart of Montrose. A historical building, the Stelzig House is in walking distance to some of Houston's best restaurants, bars, and cultural attractions.

The Space:
This space includes a large living room with a queen size American Leather Comfort Sleeper sofa with a Tempur-Pedic mattress. The kitchen is stocked with kitchenware and a kitchen bar table. The bedroom has a king size bed and an adjacent sunroom with an antique desk, printer, and scanner.

Great location and wonderful hosts!

While we only in Houston for a short time, this stay gave us great access to many areas including the richness of the local scene!

Misled by VRBO Listing

I have never left a bad VRBO review and have rented many. But future renters need to be made aware of this listing. Upon entry into the building, the walls were white and very dirty/worn. There was a barking dog on the bottom floor apartment by the entry door that did not stop barking. Upon entering the actual unit, the walls only got worse, the blinds were broken with missing pieces, the furniture looked as if it was found on the side of the street, did not match the pictures, and the smell was horrible. We immediately left and had to rent a hotel as the owner was unreachable by us and VRBO even a week later. My recommendation is to not stay here as this unit has not received any attention for many many years and the owner is clearly not qualified as the "Premier Host" rating he somehow received.

So cute

The apartment is older, but it is so cute. Clean rooms, beds were comfortable, quiet neighborhood, no problem with parking, close to so much. A very pleasant stay.

Everything I Expected

I very much enjoyed my stay here. There were no surprises, and everything was just as it was presented. It is an older home in a quaint, well established neighborhood. I was concerned for parking on the original brick-paved street, but always had a spot right in front whenever I came home. The home was clean and comfortable. Some may say it needs updating, but everything worked just fine. I took advantage of the office desk and chair to catch up on some work, and the WiFi connection was excellent. The Smart TV streamed movies without a hitch. I would stay here again, and recommend it to anyone who can appreciate the nature and character of a well kept, older home. Some in my age bracket may even call it nostalgic!

Wonderful

This place is such a wonderful VRBO, its a very quiet, very adorable place, in an excellent neighborhood that's within walking distance to everything! Wonderful hosts that always were in touch if there were any problems, which we had none at all. One of my most favorite VRBO stays, very well put together check in process and apartment. Can't wait to go back.

Super clean and great location

The apartment was very clean and located in a great neighborhood. The communication and check-in instructions were excellent. The apartment has a lot of charm and character—could use a coat of paint but that is a very minor critique.

A place of Retreat

It was a nice place to retreat in order to work on assignments and relax. I was able to print out material I needed for my work, as well as sit and enjoy the tv. I appreciated the quick response when communicating with the property manager. I would definitely stay here again.

5 Star Accommodation

I had an amazing stay and will definitely visit again. Check in/out was an extremely easy process. The property was spacious and walking distance from lots of restaurants and any store you would possibly need. Communication with the property manager was extremely prompt. 5 star rating hands down!!!
