Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 8

On Smoky’s Pond offers something for everyone. The 3-bedroom log cabin exudes country charm, but with WiFi, flat-panel TVs with cable, a hot tub, and all manner of appliances, it’s far from old-fashioned. Likewise, though its setting is bucolic, the house is just a 5-minute drive to the attractions and eateries of downtown Gatlinburg.

From the deck, which wraps around the front of the cabin and down one side, you can gaze out at the cascading ponds that give the home its name. Just beyond the ponds and the towering trees, you can see the Great Smoky Mountains. The deck is furnished with rocking chairs so that you can come outside to greet the sunrise and kick back at night to search for constellations in the sky. You can enjoy your meals out in the fresh air too, at the deck’s dining table. And perhaps best of all, the deck includes a hot tub. The singing of warblers and the sight of falcons soaring over the treetops make a soak even more restorative!

You can savor the view when you’re indoors as well, courtesy of the glass doors and myriad windows. The living area’s couch is perfectly positioned so that when you’re not watching a movie on the 46” HDTV you can gaze out at the woodlands. The wood-planked walls and vaulted ceiling add to the restful rustic ambiance, especially when the stone-surround gas fireplace casts a warm golden glow on the room.

You’re sure to appreciate the fully equipped kitchen, even if it’s just to brew your morning cup of coffee or to whip up a batch of milkshakes or margaritas in the blender at night. Should you decide to channel your inner chef, you’ll find all the appliances, pots, pans, accessories, and tableware you need at your disposal. There’s even a dishwasher, because who wants to scrub plates when you could be soaking in the hot tub instead? If you don’t want to enjoy your meal out on the deck, you can do so in the dining area. The table seats 6 easily—no bumping of elbows while you eat!—and after you clear the plates you can bring out the Monopoly or Scrabble board. Let your family meal segue into family game night!

One of the highlights of a vacation is being able to catch up on your sleep. The cabin’s 3 charmingly appointed bedrooms make doing so especially easy. Upstairs on the loft level is the spacious master suite. The king-size bed is so comfortable, you might fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow! If you don’t, you can relax by watching TV or a movie on DVD or getting lost in that book you never have time for at home.

The master bedroom has its own bathroom, as do the 2 bedrooms on the main floor. These bedrooms each have a queen-size bed and their own TV with DVD player—they would qualify as master bedrooms in many other homes. If you have additional guests, the living area’s sofa can convert to a bed for 2, enabling On Smoky’s Pond to sleep up to 8 people in all.

Because On Smoky’s Pond is part of the Black Bear Falls Log Home Community, you have access to the resort’s heated adult and children’s swimming pools, which are open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. After your swim lounge on a poolside chaise—don’t forget the sunscreen!

The cabin’s convenient location makes it easy to enjoy the area’s many other attractions as well. In addition to being close to downtown Gatlinburg, you’ll be only minuted by car from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski area, and the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop, an 8-mile trail of more than 100 galleries, studios, and crafts shops. And let’s not forget the golf courses, fishing, mini golf, white-water rafting… Even Dollywood is just a half-hour away.

Whatever your interests, you’ll find plenty to keep you happily occupied when you stay at On Smoky’s Pond. So go ahead, book your stay today, and start getting ready for your best vacation yet!

Everything I expected and more!

  • 4 of 5

This was a great family vacation! The cabin was one of the high spots. We all liked and enjoyed it very much! The children didn't want to leave. Overlooking the pond was a nice touch. All the amenities we needed for a week long stay. Almost immediate response for a small problem we encountered. A couple maintenance items need attention, but nothing that interfered with our vacation. I definitely recommend this Cabin and Jackson Mountain for future rentals.

The complex was fantastic with privacy, babbling creeks, and beautiful views.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed this cabin very much. Celebrated a milestone birthday with family and the grandchildren loved the creeks, ponds and ducks. The cabin was comfortable with a wonderful L-shaped porch and gorgeous Smoky Mountain views. We definitely had everything we needed. The cabin could use some updating, but that didn't bother us.

We did have to get maintenance to come because the hot tub cover was broken, but they responded promptly. Only real complaint is that the property advertised a heated pool, which is one of the reasons we picked this complex as mountain pools in the shade and in early summer can be very cold. The pool was NOT heated and was very cold. Even my "guppy" grandkids complained!

But all-in-all it was a wonderful, memorable experience and we will be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you Candy for staying with us. We are glad you had a wonderful time On Smoky's Pond. Happy milestone Birthday! We are pleased to know that our 24/7 on call service department was able to promptly attend to needs with the hot tub cover. The Black Bear Falls resort advertises their pool as heated and that is what we have advertised as well. Since your comment, we will be looking into this and will adjust our advertising accordingly. Again, thank you for staying with us. We look forward to having you stay with us again on your next trip to the Smokies.

Nice cabin with great view of ponds

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time with our son and his family. Cabin was very nice; bedrooms were good size, especially the master which was huge. Our 6 y/o grandson loved sleeping upstairs on the floor in his sleeping bag. The only downside was that the living area and kitchen were a little small, although the kitchen table is nice with seating for 6. We brought in one of the rocking chairs from the porch for extra seating in the living area. There's a nice view of 2 ponds, complete with ducks, from the cabin. Lots of things to do in the area for families with kids; also the artist's trail was great. We had some wonderful food, some great restaurants in the area. Will definitely return.

The only problem was the tv’s didn’t work but that’s ok. We loved sitting on the porch and watch the ducks.
