Absolutely amazing stay. The place was spotless, and the secluded, peaceful property gave us the perfect escape. The lake was incredible, and the sunsets were absolutely beautiful. Communication was quick, clear, and super friendly, and the hosts were incredibly accommodating throughout our trip. Our dog settled right in, which made the stay even better. We’ll definitely be returning — highly recommend.

Lake House Cottage

Excellent stay! Quiet lakefront location. All the amenities were made available to make our stay really enjoyable. Would definitely return for another vacation!

A great stay at the Lake House!

We had a great stay at the property. It is in a great, secluded location. We hiked in the area and it was a short trip into town if we needed anything. The cottage was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. A great place for family or friends to stay. We look forward to visiting again in the summer!

Everything we imagined and more

We had an incredible stay at this property. Beautiful spot with the privacy we wanted but also close enough to town to make quick stops in. Chandra was very helpful for check in and throughout our stay. The cottage faces west, so beautiful sunsets every night and great swimming all day. We will definitely be staying again!

Great 4night stay

No complaints! Cottage clean and well stocked. Enjoyed the canoe, paddle board and fire pit. Perfect size for our family of 3 adult couples and dog. Scenery and wildlife were incredible!! We’ll be back for sure

Great Lakeview

The cottage is well kept and well equipped with all the necessary amenities. It's very private, has a great Lakeview and we would rate it as five-star accommodation. The host is friendly and replies to any questions in a timely and helpful manner.

July 2025

We had a wonderful time at this very well equipped cottage. The beds were super comfy and the AC appreciated on a few very hot nights. The upper deck facing the lake was a wonderful spot to hang out for meals and afternoon drinks. As the lake is fairly shallow is was already warm enough for swimming in early July. Anti-gravity chairs allowed for napping at the dock. Thanks - we had a great rime

Amazing

This place is so peaceful and is great to recharge at. Our family swam, used the paddle board, had great bbq meals and slept so comfortably in the air conditioned rooms. The little touches are amazing such as providing fishing rods, bug spray and games. The host is very responsive with any questions we had prior to our stay. We loved hearing the loons in the morning and the hummingbirds, we would definitely come back again next year.

5 Acre Woods stay June 2023

We had a lovely stay at this well appointed cottage at a beautiful, quiet and nature filled location. Cottage was a perfect space for my family which included 2 couples a single person and the family dog. No complaints whatsoever!! We swam, kayaked and watched the family of Loons everyday. We all had a great time. We will be returning next year for sure!!

This property was so beautiful. The privacy is unmatched. The view from the deck is stunning. The lake is small, quiet, warm and welcoming. We didn't see one boat, not even another person the entire week there! The cottage was spacious and incredibly well-stocked. The host is kind, flexibile and quick to respond. There was also a green space for the outdoor activities. The firepit by the water is a great touch. We will most definitely be back! Thank you!

Amazing cottage.

We just got back from our week at the cottage. It was perfect for our family of 5. We all needed the down time and the time together just us and this cottage provided that. The quiet and the views were spectacular. We had the whole lake to ourselves! Sunsets are breathtaking. The cottage was clean and has everything you would need and the hosts are very responsive. We always rent cottages but this is the first time I said I would want to come back to this one.

Nice and quiet property grounds

Liked: -Property grounds / nature -Quiet -Fresh outside air Main dislikes: -Cottage and cushioned furniture has strong odours -No propane BBQ for 2 days (they don't follow the practice of having a full spare tank) -Dock has hazards -Not quiet when the freight train came through before sunrise. Happened twice during our three night stay All our clothes smelled and we decided to leave after the third night. Maybe it needs a deep cleaning after their busy summer season.

With respect to the propane tank, we always have an extra tank next to the BBQ, but unfortunately the extra tank was not dropped off when the cottage was set up for your arrival as it normally is. We recognize that this mistake took away from your experience and we apologize for this. We are sorry to hear the train disrupted your stay. It’s a short train that goes into the quarry around 8:30am and come out around 10:30am twice a week. While our guests have enjoyed this in the past, especially the kids, we recognize it is not for everyone and appreciate your comments around this. Lastly, while we ensure the cottage is thoroughly cleaned between guests, we will investigate your comments about the soft surfaces and make any rectifications necessary. We value your honest feedback, and our missions is to ensure every guest has a comfortable, relaxing and positive experience when they visit our property. Private paradise on the lake

I had three main criteria when looking for a vacation rental: 1. pet friendly; 2. on a lake; and 3. private with few or no neighboring properties. This cottage provided all three. We enjoyed our time down on the dock and on the water, as well as sitting on the deck listening to the Loons and watching the beautiful sunsets. We left the cottage only a few days to make a quick trip into Havelock to pick up some items we forgot or ran out of. Every person we met in town was friendly and welcoming. I wish we had been able to extend our stay so we could explore the surrounding area we originally planned. Chandra was a pleasure to work with and was quick to respond to my questions.

Rustic getaway

Overall, this listing was exactly what was expected. It is a more rustic cottage that has some good upgrades. It’s a work in progress but offers a comfortable space and very comfortable beds in a quiet location. The air-conditioning units were appreciated, especially during very hot weather, but we’re a little noisy. Luckily, we were able to turn them off when going to bed as there is a nice breeze at night. The deck off the main room was exceptional. It sits high off the ground and hence gets a nice breeze, and importantly, the substantial number of deer flies (to be expected) do not bother anyone. It has a beautiful view of the sunset. It is sufficiently shaded throughout the day that you can sit out there almost all day long. And the variety of birds and their songs were absolutely charming! The only negative for us was that there was a bit of a steep hill down to the beach. Well, not normally problematic, with a more elderly person in our party, as well as someone with a knee injury, it made it a bit difficult to get there. The host was very responsive to questions asked. On average, she answered our questions within a few minutes. Her responsiveness was very much appreciated

Lovely inside and out!

The 5 Acre Woods property was exactly as described and more. The property is very private due to the large lot and the many trees. Exactly what we were looking for. I loved that we could enjoy a wood fire both inside in the wood stove and outside in the fire pit. The inside has been updated and is very comfortable for a cooler rainy day if you don’t want to venture outside. But the outside is where the property really shines. Two decks and two balconies allow for everyone to get a great view of lakefront or woods. The first evening we were greeted by a flock of wild turkeys. And they visited us several times during our stay. We also saw turkey vultures and many chipmunks and squirrels. Walking through the woods was my favourite part. The terrain is so interesting. Mossy rocks and boulders and such a variety of trees and marshy areas too. And at night the lake is just gorgeous with the stars reflected in it like a mirror. Chandra was very quick to respond to any questions we had before and during our trip. And there were many thoughtful touches that made the trip enjoyable from all the small appliances available in the kitchen to the soap/shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. Games and puzzles too. Also providing info on side trips like Petroglyphs Provincial Park which we also enjoyed. We had a great time a look forward to a repeat visit in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. It was peaceful, quiet, and exactly what we were looking for. The cottage itself was beautifully maintained, exceptionally clean, and thoughtfully appointed with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.Communication with the host was excellent from start to finish. They were friendly, welcoming, and quick to respond, making the entire experience easy and stress-free.The location is fantastic, with beautiful views, spectacular sunsets, and easy access to nearby hiking trails. We especially enjoyed being so close to Petroglyphs Provincial Park, which made for a great day trip.If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature, this is an excellent choice. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it.

Everything it promises

This is a truly lovely place for anyone who appreciates quiet and nature. The lake is lovely and the little 'beach' was perfect for my 6-year-old granddaughter. The house has everything you need and is very comfortable. Strongly recommended.

A wonderful quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

My partner and I were looking for a quiet nature retreat where we could forget about city life and work, and this place fit the bill nicely. We were a bit reluctant at first due to the distance, but luckily I enjoy driving and the 7 and it’s little towns is always a pleasant route. The cottage was great. A cute mix of modern furnishings with some mid-century flair thrown in to give it that country feel. We spent a lot of time on the main deck, enjoying the views of the lake, the many loons, and the variety of birds visiting the bird feeder. We brought our kayaks and had a few paddles around the lake, which is small but very quiet. We didn’t see a soul our entire week’s stay! We were lacking nothing when it came to amenities! Modern kitchen with everything we needed, big screen TV with internet, nice big couch to chill on, even some smores and wine! The odd hiccup we had during our stay we resolved without issue, and the host was quick to respond promptly to all questions. Nature was mostly kind to us, as the forecast was originally calling for rain most of the week, but it changed and we only had rain for 1.5 days. The one downside were the bugs, but welcome to rural Canada in July. LOL. The provided A/C units in the bedrooms were a nice relief against the few nights of heat, but were mostly not needed with the plentiful windows to open for cross-breeze. With Havelock being only minutes away, it was a convenient spot to pop in for any missing items, or just to get in your Pokemon Go fix. 😉 FYI, Woody’s buger’s are amazing! And they have glutten free buns for those in need. All-in-all we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this wonderful little gem to anyone.

Great Getaway

My family thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. Close to Havelock for any forgotten items, lots of options for enjoying the quiet - multiple decks, dock, fire pit, hammock or floating on the lake. Only a few cottages so always good for a tranquil paddle. Highly recommended.
