Old Buenos Aires Charm in Recoleta
We felt very fortunate to find not just this well-maintained, clean, bug-free and charming apartment in a grand dame of a building in Recoleta whose most important features are the incredibly responsive Matt Gomez, the owner, and Pablo, the local manager, who define excellent customer service. Our family stayed in the apartment during our 11 days in Buenos Aires in May 2019 to visit our U.S.-university student daughter who was studying in BA this spring. We appreciated how well it worked for us. There were four of us including our daughter who spent a few nights with us. We were very comfortable, thanks to the two bedrooms, each with king-size beds, and the living room couch. The apartment's well-appointed kitchen includes a washer-dryer which helped us immensely. We were so happy to have the machine, which appeared to be rather new, that we didn't even mind that it took several hours to do a load in the two-in-one device that would have taken significantly less time in our separate washer/dryer machines at home. The machine really helped us extend our wardrobe and towel supply. The bathroom has a modern shower stall with wand and was clean enough, all things considered. The apartment has very good lighting, sufficient electric outlets and came with a power strip compatible with international plugs. It had relatively-fast wifi and cable TV; all the channels are in Spanish so it's an electronic immersion program. Being in BA as the days got cooler with winter's approach, we appreciated the apartment's ac/heater unit and the two space heaters. The building has a small, cage elevator with a three-people maximum which added to the charm factor. The building is in an excellent Recoleta location, with plenty of restaurants, shopping, taxis, banks etc nearby, as well as world-famous sites like Recoleta cemetery and Teatro Colon. And if you had any questions about restaurants or practically anything else actually, Matt was constantly digitally available, always ready with recommendations. The man apparently never sleeps! Pablo who handles the check-in process was also incredibly attentive, checking in to make sure everything was going well. When the in-apartment water heater once stopped delivering hot water, he was soon there to get it going again. Before we arrived in BA, Matt promised me our family would love the city and Argentina. He was right and his pleasant apartment and devotion to his clients is a major reason why. Mucho gracias, Matt!
A Nice Location
This property is a nice location and a nice neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and coffee shops.....easy access to most main attractions. (within walking distance) For the others you can get there by taxi, at a reasonable cost. The apartment is exactly as advertised. Pablodono, Matthews assistant, was waiting for us on the day of arrival......gave us good tips and information. The only one little thing is one of the bedrooms which is closer to the entrance, faces the street. At night the street noise is louder, plus you can hear people using the lift. Once I used earplugs, all was good. I would recommend that future renters bring earplugs for whoever stays in this bedroom. We stayed for 3 nights, and Overall, a very good choice if you are visiting Buenos Aires. Thank you Matthew and Plabodono.
Very comfortable apartment in a great location
We thoroughly enjoyed a week-long stay in February. The apartment was as advertised, a very comfortable unit in a quiet yet convenient location. The hosts were very responsive and helpful and the apartment was well appointed. However the location was the real star, set on a quiet street but close to restaurants, groceries, banking, and transportation. We look forward to our next visit.
We loved our stay in this apartment! It was perfect for a girls getaway. The apartment was everything we wanted: lovely, spacious, clean, located in the perfect neighborhood/local and safe.
Matthew was such a gracious host. He checked in with us everyday, offered suggestions on restaurants that were local options vs touristy. As women traveling by ourselves, we really appreciated his pro-active communication and checking in on us each day. He also helped us arrange airport transfer to/from.
As someone who travels often for business and holiday and appreciates lovely accommodations with concierge service, staying in this property and working with Matthew was a refreshing alternative to abroad boutique hotels.
When I return to Buenos Aires we will for certain first reach out to Matthew and stay in the same property and neighborhood.
Great apartment, amazing location and fantastic owner. Highly recommend this place.
Paris in Buenos Aires
Excellent location. Amazing communication. The WiFi is super fast and you are able to stream movies/tv shows with no issue. Great restaurants and grocery store only few blocks away. Evita’s gravesite is walking distance. This is the perfect safe area to stay. We loved our trip and really enjoyed the apartment. You have to understand that in other countries apartments are not as big as in the US. Would stay here again. Wonderful place and the living room area is very large. My only suggestion would be to have more toilet paper in the bathroom when you know you are going to have guests staying for a week.
My name is Matthew and I would like to welcome you to our apartments.
First of all, let me describe the apartments. These are truly singular properties, located on a residential street, yet just one block from Avenida Pueyrredon with its shops and businesses. Just a few short blocks to the Recoleta Village or Plaza Barrientos areas with their restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and other attractions. The area is safe and has all of the modern conveniences.
Second, because I am a native of Buenos Aires ('porteno' in Argentine) I always take a personal interest in providing our guests with all of the information they need to enjoy the city to its fullest. Buenos Aires is one of the most cosmopolitian, sophisticated and fun cities in the world. It is nearly as large in terms of population as New York and has all of the amenities and excitement that one expects in a big city. Because of its European heritage Buenos Aires is often compared to Paris or Barcelona. I know that once you stay in Buenos Aires you will find it as exciting as I do. I would be delighted to provide you with additional information via phone or email noted on this webpage. So, please feel free to contact me for addtional information.
